(In his lawsuit against his niece Mary L Trump and the NY Times, he used the term "burner phone" at least 3 times.)

The dark, fetid and dirty pool of Trump’s Sedition Cartel is overflowing, spilling into the light of day the obvious facts of his January 6 coup. I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes. 

Bob Woodward and Robert Costa report:

“The lack of an official White House notation of any calls placed to or by Trump for 457 minutes on Jan. 6, 2021 — from 11:17 a.m. to 6:54 p.m. — means the [Jan. 6] committee has no record of his phone conversations as his supporters descended on the Capitol, battled overwhelmed police and forcibly entered the building, prompting lawmakers and Vice President Mike Pence to flee for safety.”

“The House panel is now investigating whether Trump communicated that day through backchannels, phones of aides or personal disposable phones, known as ‘burner phones,’ according to two people with knowledge of the probe.” (Trump said in a statement that he doesn't know what a burner phone is.)

U.S. District Court Judge David Carter made this determination in a ruling that orders 101 emails from Trump ally and consigliere John Eastman be turned over to the House’s Jan. 6 select committee.

 “Dr. Eastman and President Trump launched a campaign to overturn a democratic election, an action unprecedented in American history. Their campaign was not confined to the ivory tower — it was a coup in search of a legal theory. The plan spurred violent attacks on the seat of our nation’s government, led to the deaths of several law enforcement officers, and deepened public distrust in our political process.... If Dr. Eastman and President Trump’s plan had worked, it would have permanently ended the peaceful transition of power, undermining American democracy and the Constitution. If the country does not commit to investigating and pursuing accountability for those responsible, the Court fears January 6 will repeat itself.”

 "The illegality of the plan was obvious. Our nation was founded on the peaceful transition of power, epitomized by George Washington laying down his sword to make way for democratic elections. Ignoring this history, President Trump vigorously campaigned for the vice president to single-handedly determine the results of the 2020 election...Based on the evidence, the Court finds it more likely than not that President Trump corruptly attempted to obstruct the Joint Session of Congress on January 6, 2021."

How obvious can it be?

The secret calls and missing phone records, by being deliberately withheld, can only suggest criminal obstruction and criminal intent.

 "Stop the steal" can have only one meaning. Overturn the election.

 "It will be wild" can only suggest what he was instigating would NOT be civil, peaceful, or legal.

 The marching orders were clear.

 "...they need to take back our country...so let’s walk down Pennsylvania Ave.”

 Refusing to order his mob to stop can only indicate he desired it to happen and hoped his coup would succeed.

"You're special, we love you" can only mean he approved of them and their actions.

The obvious conclusion?

Guilty, guilty, guilty.

Orders From His Master

 

The Party of Putin is finally scrambling to whitewash their fealty to Putin and their dependence on Russian/NRA money. The only way for any semblance of American democracy to survive will be for Republicans to repudiate both Putin and Trump.

We won’t be holding our breath for the latter, but finally Trump’s idol has revealed his true darkness and evil.

There shouldn’t be any more lies about Trump not having ties to Russian banks and other business deals in the works. Clearly the Russian mob and their dirty money were welcomed in Trump Tower.

When Trump’s sycophantic Lindsay Graham calls for the “Caesar Solution” for Putin, we know Republicans’ love for Putin has taken a turn.

And I don't think there will be sales bump of those "I'd rather be Russian than a Democrat" t-shirts.

Ukraine is paying a terrible cost for standing against Putin. His nuclear weapons are his leverage for his bloody war to make Russia great again.

The US will also be suffering the consequences of Putin’s “war by other means” against us for years to come.

Putin won his war by other means against Britain when he helped push them into Brexit.

If you want to call this “genius”, then be sure to add “diabolical” to the word.

Lately I'm thinking Putin gave Trump his marching orders in Helsinki. The world saw the Big MAGAt standing with bowed head, and siding with Putin against our intelligence agencies.

It's not a stretch to assume more instructions were given in their secret meetings. He would know what would work best to divide and disempower the United States.

I’m convinced Putin likely told Trump to do him the following “favors”:

Let him have Ukraine.

Extort Ukraine to support his reelection.

Blame Ukraine instead of Russia for interfering in the 2016 election.

Call Democrats communists.

And to NEVER admit to losing the 2020 election.

This has to be Putin's favorite tool to destabilize and cripple American democracy.

Whether by specific instructions or just suggestions, Putin got his way with Trump.

Praise for Putin

 

Putin has invaded Ukraine. 

Watch how he and many Republicans will blame Biden. No matter. This blood is on Putin’s hands alone.

Putin's authoritarian cronies are threatening anyone who dares to show dissent.

Moscow’s Mayakovsky Theater has forbidden its actors from making “ANY comments AT ALL” about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The city’s Culture Dept. reportedly says any negative comments will be considered “treason.”

Russian TV is showing Trump's praise for Putin to justify his invasion.

Putin said his country strives to achieve the "demilitarization and de-nazification" of Ukraine. (President Zelensky is Jewish.)

Lucky for us Putin won't try this for the US because all of our neo-Nazis are Trump supporters.

President Biden has been correctly warning us that this was about to happen. He was mocked by the Right, of course.

The American radical Right simultaneously denounces President Biden for doing both “too much” and “too little” during this crisis.

 Of course they do.

Trump was “tough” for praising Putin, while Biden is “weak” for denouncing him.

What else can we expect from the party that sent members of the Senate and House to Russia for the Fourth of July in 2018?

For the record, the Red Square Republicans or “Moscow Mules” are:

Sens. Richard C. Shelby (Ala.), Steve Daines (Mont.), John Hoeven (N.D.), John Neely Kennedy (La.), Jerry Moran (Kan.), John Thune (S.D.) and Johnson, plus Rep. Kay Granger (Tex.).

It shouldn’t be a surprise to see how many Republicans praise Putin. After all, Trump was Putin’s favorite US president.

Let’s have a look at how many on the American radical Right revere their fellow authoritarian Putin.

Trump recently praised Putin's aggressive moves against Ukraine in a podcast interview with conservative podcaster Buck Sexton. 

"I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, 'This is genius.' Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine — Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful! 'How smart is that?' And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s strongest peace force... We could use that on our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna keep peace all right. "Here’s a guy who’s very savvy... I know him very well. Very, very well."

"You gotta say that’s pretty savvy. And you know what the response was from Biden? There was no response. They didn’t have one for that. No, it’s very sad. Very sad. I knew Putin very well. I got along with him great. He liked me. I liked him. I mean, you know, he’s a tough cookie, got a lot of the great charm and a lot of pride.”

We've heard the latest evil lie from Mordor-A-Lago:

And it’s not just Trump.

Mike Pence: “A stronger leader”

Rudy Giuliani: “Makes a decision & executes it. That’s what you call a leader”

Tucker Carlson: “Why is it disloyal to side with Russia...”

A Fox News Chyron under Tucker Carlson from Dec. 7, 2021: “Putin Just Wants to Keep His Western Border Secure”

Paul Gosar tweeted: “Putin puts Russia first as he should. Biden should put America first but instead he will let in terrorists and welfare seekers.”

Candace Owens tweeted this week: “I suggest every American who wants to know what’s *actually* going on in Russia and Ukraine, read this transcript of Putin’s address. As I’ve said for month — NATO (under direction from the United States) is violating previous agreements and expanding eastward. WE are at fault.”

Steve Bannon and Erik Prince are supporting Russia because Putin is anti-woke and has no tolerance for LGBTQ.

Trumpists have not been shy about it. We've see the t-shirts at Trump rallies proclaiming, "I'd rather be Russian than a Democrat". And so they would.

This should suffice as sufficient evidence of pervasive Republican loyalty to Putin. 

Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, and Adam Kinzinger are some Republicans who are not among this pro-Putin faction. Obviously they are the ones who understand the threat Trump presents to our democracy.

On the other hand, there are brave and thoughtful Russians who refuse to support their version of Donald Trump: 

Thousands of Russian anti-war protesters are taking to the streets. 

Over 170 Russian journalists, including from Kremlin-run RT and TASS, have signed an open letter calling for an end to war with Ukraine.

Meanwhile, back in the US, we are facing our domestic Putinists.

Once again the US is about to see Putin’s Party on the ballot in our next election.

A Tale of Two Critics

 If you would forgive my little narrative of a petty blog drama, I'd like to share some words from two of my harshest critics.

These two particular bloggers recently joined forces to attack me. Due to being banned at both of their blogs, I had no ability to respond, So I'll just submit my defense here.

What terms describe people who would dishonestly attack a person, while denying him the opportunity to defend himself?

If that dishonesty conveys an outright falsehood, then “liar” might seem quite appropriate.

Perhaps “coward” would also apply in that situation?

From Dictionary.com: “a person who lacks courage in facing danger, difficulty, opposition, pain, etc.; a timid or easily intimidated person.”

Last month one my “fans” named Jerry dedicated a post to demean me as a “wacko” for noting the similarities in the rise of German Nazis to the rise of radical Right Trumpism in the US. Readers may remember his profound annoyance with me in previous comment threads at: "Dare I Compare" and "Racist Projection".

Holocaust survivors agree with my comparison, and I posted a list of them saying so. Will Jerry call them the “wacko left”?

He simply refused to acknowledge them and fled from the discussion.

What is he afraid of?

Definitions of words might be high on the list.

I tried to explain to him:

“Nobody is EQUATING Trump to Hitler, or the Republican Party to Hitler's Nazi Party.

Compare: to estimate, measure, or note the similarity or dissimilarity between.

Equate: consider (one thing) to be the same as or equivalent to another.

Words have meanings.”

Jerry refused to acknowledge these distinctions and definitions.

This all goes back to when I requested facts to support his claim that I was wrong about Hitler's Brownshirts.

Jerry claimed: “Hitler and his brown shirts beat, imprisoned, and murdered top government officials and elected German representatives before and after he was given the leadership off Germany.”

Multiple times I asked him for evidence of his claim. “Recheck your history” was his response. He refused to cite evidence and doubled down, saying I was wrong and motivated by “hate”.

Of course he failed to name ONE of those “imprisoned, and murdered top government official”.

He had nothing. He became angry, and accused me of “many falsehoods”. So how many facts did he share to support his accusation? Zero.

Well, ol’ Jer still can’t get me out of his head.

"HitlerComparisons"

 The wacko left loves to compare Trump to Hitler. So, I asked them where are the Trump concentration camps? Did Trump murder millions of Muslims? Did Trump bomb, or invade other countries and murder their citizens? Did Trump kill people in the millions? Did Trump murder his political opponents? Did he murder teachers, homosexuals, artists, news people, or others he felt were his enemies. The answer is obviously NO. But by my saying they were falsely accusing Trump of being a Hitler I was branded a pedophile and told by a supposed Buddhist I was full of shit. 

Well watch the news Hitler lovers. If you want to compare anyone to Hitler it is Putin. He is about to invade another country with real bullets and real innocent people are going to die. What will he do to those he considers enemies of his government? We know what he has done to Russia. We know he has killed reporters. We know he already has concentration camps. 

So save your Hitler comparisons for those who are real evil, or prove to me Trump did any of the evils I listed in my first paragraph.

Wait a minute. If I’m a “Hitler lover”, wouldn’t that make me a Trump lover as well? Only Jerry knows for sure.

Our old buddy Darrell joined in, as they commiserated in their shared victimhood.

As for people such as our old friend that we both have "sanctioned" he continues to compare Trump to Hitler. The irony that his beloved leftists are the ones that are coercing behaviors, censoring unapproved speech, and seeking ways to disenfranchise those with whom they disagree is evidently lost on his Kool-aide addled mind.

Jerry:
By the way, it was our long-winded friend who called me a pedophile for denouncing his Trump is Hitler comparisons.

It appears Trump isn’t the only victim of my vicious libel. ( I never said, "Trump is Hitler".) Jerry’s delicate sensibilities somehow perceived I branded him a “pedophile”, in addition to “falsely accusing Trump of being a Hitler”.

As any decent person would do, you’re  probably wondering why I would brand poor Jerry a pedophile.

I didn’t.

I used that as a hypothetical example of accusations without evidence.

I told him by his standards of leveling accusations without evidence, I could say he is a pedophile and not show any facts to support the claim. He took it personally.

I tried to explain:

“I'll have to trust you are not a pedophile, because I have seen no evidence or indication of your pedophilia. Is this reasonable?”

Apparently it was not reasonable to him. He’s like a delicate snowflake that way.

Jerry demanded: "...now show me where the Republican party, or Trump emulated that behavior."

So I did:

“I already showed you, Jerry. Demonizing the opposition as communists, fueling bigotry and racism, embracing white nationalism, scapegoating minorities, the Big Lie, staging a Putsch, etc.

I suppose that’s just what a Hitler lover would say, amirite?

Now let’s review the wild accusations from Jerry’s partner Darrell.

He had these words to say about me:

 The left simply is about emphasizing hate, division, and destruction. They seemingly want nothing more than to destroy what they see as a racist, homophobic, sexist, xenophobic, and greedy nation.... The Left claims that they love America and are sometimes even comprised of “old fashioned Americans” and yet they find fatal flaws in our nation, its founding, and its governance.  America is a racist, homophobic, sexist, xenophobic nation since its inception according to the left, and yet they still love it supposedly. ...Our resident leftist who is no longer welcome at this site, jubilantly suggested that I "was caught in a lie" regarding the Churchill meme.  The hate-America Leftists these days evidently live constantly with their own lies all the time so that they assume everyone else does too. 

Dare I mention these are the same kind of demonizing attacks Nazis would use against Jews, socialists, educators and journalists? 

Maybe you've noted neither of these fellows would quote any of my words to justify their accusations. This turns out to be a feature, not a bug.

To Darrell’s credit, he did remove the quote he erroneously attributed to Churchill. Instead of thanking me for pointing out his mistake, he decided to smear me.

Goes to show how difficult life can be when you’re a “Hitler-loving, America-hating leftist who wants to destroy our nation”.

A discerning reader may wonder what rationale these fellows have for their fierce hatred for me.

Best I can tell is they deeply resent my requests for information that supports their accusations. 

Poor Darrell was shocked into silence when I asked for evidence that Trump beat Biden. And his circuits were fried when I questioned his support for a man who praised his seditionist thugs by saying, “You’re special. We love you.”

Yup. If that doesn’t tell you I hate America, what will?

They used to comment here, and both are still welcome to do so. Neither are particularly informed or brave enough to step up and face me on equal terms in evidence-based discussion.

My clear-eyed critics are still going on about me at Darrell's recent post. Typically, none  of them quoted any “lie” from me. Name calling seems to be an entirely acceptable privilege, but only if you are sufficiently radical Right. And Jerry is still playing his imaginary victim card.

Nuremburg In Texas

Trump was in full victim/liar/projection mode at a fairground in Conroe, Texas last Saturday.

He attacked our justice system for prosecuting his terrorist thugs and openly called for more mob violence if he is found guilty of his crimes.

"If these radical, vicious, racist prosecutors do anything wrong or illegal, I hope we are going to have in this country the biggest protest we have ever had in Washington DC, in New York, in Atlanta and elsewhere because our country and our elections are corrupt."

We all know what happened the last time he incited a mob to “protest”. He just added more evidence of sedition to the case against him.

Like all fascist leaders he incited anger, rage and hatred for anyone against him. 

He invoked a false sense of victimization in his cult by including them in his persecution delusion.

"In reality, they're not after me, they're after you, and I just happen to be the person in the way." 

"They're after you." 

Instilling fear and paranoia is vital to the fascist agenda.

He continued to defend his criminal mob, after he made it clear on January 6, 2021 when he said, “We love you. You’re very special.”

“If I run and I win, we will treat those people from Jan. 6 fairly. And if it requires pardons, we will give them pardons, because they are being treated so unfairly.”

He’s still trying to legitimize his putsch.

Since so many fascist Republican cowards have shown they will appease his sedition, incitement for insurrection, violence and destruction, they will not denounce his latest outright stochastic terrorism: “To incite random actors to carry out violent or terrorist acts that are statistically predictable but individually unpredictable.”

To be clear, Trump is a stochastic terrorist. 

Trump follows Hitler's example of branding those in opposition as "communists".

Hitler: “The Universities are filled with students rebelling and rioting. Communists are seeking to destroy our country.”

Trump: “Like it or not, we are becoming a communist country. That’s what’s happening...The radical left democrat communist party... "All the Democrats want to do is put people in jail. They are vicious, violent, and Radical Left thugs. They are destroying people’s lives... This is what happens in communist countries and dictatorships...”

See the difference in their rhetoric? I can’t.

It is imperative for fascists and tyrants to destroy journalism in order to implant their hateful propaganda into their followers.

The Orange Fuhrer relentlessly attacked our free press as “fake news”, echoing the original Nazis' demonizing term “Lügenpresse”, or lying press.

So Trump paints anybody who does not praise him as the enemy.

“The press is the enemy of the people. The corrupt media will destroy our country.”

More demonization. More fear. More hate. It is a war on truth.

This is how the dream of democracy dies and a republic is crushed.

Anyone who can’t see the similarities in Trump and Trumpism to the rise of Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini is either a radical Right authoritarian, duped by delusions and lies, incurious, semi-literate, woefully uninformed, willfully ignorant, or simply uneducated in history.

It is the Great American Tragedy that far too many millions of our citizens are among those benighted souls.

Myth Busting

 First, let’s identify two American myths.

1. “America is a democracy.”

 2. “No, America is a republic.”

Sorry folks. It is neither. And that means it is NOT a democratic republic. Fair political representation for the voters is what defines a democratic republic.

Here’s the primary problem that is eroding the integrity and rotting the soul of the United States of America.

Our elections are rigged. And NOT in favor of Democrats.

Along with the fiction of “corporate personhood” and the secret dirty money in election campaigns, there are three institutional poison pills that are suffocating democratic representation in America.

It’s not just the anti-democratic and unrepresentative Electoral College. The Constitution has other fatal flaws undermining fair representation in the Senate and House.

State control of federal elections means gerrymandering, and partisan control of elections, vote counting, and the results. Republicans can control the House with fewer votes than Democrats.

The Senate is the least representative body in any democratic republic in history. Republicans can control the Senate with fewer votes than Democrats.

Some numbers for your consideration:

Washington DC has an estimated population of 650,050 with zero representation in the Senate.

That is more than Vermont’s 643,077 and Wyoming’s 576,851, but they each have two senators.

California has 39,938,223 with the same Senate representation.

There’s no way the founders could have foreseen this gross imbalance of legislative power. This is clearly not what they meant by “consent of the governed”.

Democrats don't currently have the votes to grant statehood to Puerto Rico, Washington, D.C., or the U.S. Virgin Islands, so they are excluded from our political process.

There is no consent of the governed allowed at all for those American citizens.

In 2012 Democratic House candidates drew nearly 1.4 million more votes than Republican candidates. Through partisan redistricting, Republicans landed a 33-seat House majority.  

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis once said states are “laboratories of democracy”.

In a pig’s eye. They are really laboratories of one-party rule.

In 2018, Democrats in Wisconsin won every statewide office and a majority of the statewide vote, but thanks to gerrymandering, won only 36 of the 99 seats in the state assembly.

Republicans Win Fewer Votes, but More Seats than Democrats

Republicans controlled the post–2010 redistricting process in the four states, and drew new lines that helped the GOP win the bulk of the House delegation in each. Republicans captured 13 of 18 seats in Pennsylvania, 12 of 16 in Ohio, nine of 14 in Michigan, and five of eight in Wisconsin. Added together, that was 39 seats for the Republicans and 17 seats for the Democrats in the four pro–Obama states. In 2018, Republicans got 45 percent of the popular vote in Wisconsin - which translated to 63 out of 99 state assembly seats. Democrats got the majority of the popular vote - and only 36 out of 99 seats.

The key to GOP congressional success was to cluster the Democratic vote into a handful of districts, while spreading out the Republican vote elsewhere. In Pennsylvania, for example, Republicans won nine of their 13 House seats with less than 60% of the vote, while Democrats carried three of their five with more than 75%.

In 1970- S: 64-12, H: 237-132

In 1975- S: 77-12, H: 341-70

In 2006- S: UNANIMOUS H: 390-33

The interesting part?

Every reauthorization has been signed into law by a Republican President. 1965 was of course LBJ (Dem), but…can we imagine what might have changed since 2006?

Barack Hussein Obama became President in 2008.

Voter ID and voter suppression bills began getting introduced in droves (thanks to the help of ALEC) in 2010. Tea Party also started that year, but I digress

Then in 2013, the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act. Since then, the hyper-partisan Congress has not been able to pass this traditionally very BIPARTISAN bill.

But Republicans insist they “don’t see color”. I’m sure it was just a coincidence that Obama was president when they saw a problem with voter rights.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD)tweeted: “Consent of the governed is the organizing principle of our democracy, and majority rule is our operating system. If we can’t restore majority rule to the Senate, we can’t protect majority rule in the states.”

There’s only one remedy for this. And it is as elusive as the combined cure for cancer and stupidity.

We need a new Constitution, or some serious amending to the one we have, to establish a true democratic republic...If that is even desired by the distracted and deceived American people. 

50 Democratic senators represent 41,549,908 more Americans than 50 Republican senators.

A 41,549,908 imbalance of representation is NOT democratic and NOT a republic, “a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives”.

By 2040, it is estimated 30% of the population will control 68% of the Senate. Eight states will contain half the population. The Senate imbalance of representation gives advantages overwhelmingly to white, non– college educated voters. In the near future, a Democratic candidate could win the popular vote by many millions of votes and still lose.

Our federal system does NOT represent the will of the American people. "Consent of the governed" has been betrayed and crushed.

But the worst is yet to come. Corpo-Dems Manchin and Sinema will abet the radical Right’s suppression of voter rights legislation.

Permanent minority rule will be the standard in America’s future from now on.

Barring a miracle of Democrats holding the House and gaining in the Senate, we can forget about any pretensions of a democratic republic. The keys to one-party fascism have been forged.
