When Fascism Comes To America

This Sunday, to bookend the week of midterm elections, I’d like to offer a second Sunday sermon. I want to share some considerations that expound on last Sunday’s message.

Running up to this past Tuesday’s election, the Party of Trump and FOX(R) did their best to portray Democrats and dissenting Americans as an angry mob.

It is pure projection, of course.

Nazi Tiki parades, Klansmen, and the thuggish Proud Boys show us the real angry mobs are Trumpist bigots.

White Nationalists have been even further radicalized and emboldened by the hateful rhetoric of Trump. Since 9-11, American right-wing terrorism and its body count has been keeping pace with violent Jihadists.

And it’s only getting worse. Anti-Semitic and other hate crimes are increasing in the Trump era.

Want to see another angry mob?

Trump rallies are not celebrations of tax cuts and deregulation. It's all about their resentment, anger and rage in an extended version of Orwell’s “Two minute hate”. Lately journalists and black women seem to be getting a special serving of ire.

So why are they so angry, even while holding most of the power of our government?

They are frightened. They believe in all their fear-mongering, scapegoating, conspiracies, and lies.

White Nationalism is in a frenzied panic. They still see themselves as the real oppressed “victims”, you know. They want to wield political power as a means to social and cultural dominance. As I said, it isn’t about tax cuts and deregulation. If it were, they would be happy now. No, they want to divide, conquer and rule. They will eventually fail in that goal, but their damage to truth, democracy, and decency will take decades to reverse.

And there is always the possibility that war can erupt at any time with nationalists in power, so there’s that.

The fact that corporate power is allied with, and abetted by, white nationalism will make it all the harder to uproot.

I'm not convinced the planet and civilization can emerge intact from the dire consequences of this plague of white nationalism. Global warming tells us time may not be on our side.

But I am convinced that not resisting will only allow them to double down on their destruction of our democratic republic and to get away with their rampage. So resist we must. This is our unending struggle for truth, democracy and decency.

We need to understand how creeping extremism insinuates itself into our society and subsumes large segments of our population.

The Trump Cult is loaded with fundamentalist Evangelicals, and it is proving religion is usually woven into the fabric of extremism and fascism.

These guys understood how it works:

On October 10, 1936 Heinrich Himmler created the Reich Central Office for Combating Homosexuality and Abortion, or Special Office (II S), a sub-department of Executive Department II of the Gestapo.

The inspiration?

"The National Government will regard it as its first and foremost duty to revive in the nation the spirit of unity and cooperation. It will preserve and defend those basic principles on which our nation has been built. It regards Christianity as the foundation of our national morality, and the family as the basis of national life." - Adolph Hitler "My New World Order" - Proclamation to the German Nation, Berlin, February 1, 1933

(Just to note, “Nation and National” appear FIVE times in those three sentences. “Socialism”? Zero. Socialism only appears after “National”. So yes, Nazis are nationalists after all. Remember “First they came for the socialists”?)

We recall the Wehrmacht's belt buckles were stamped with "Gott Mitt Uns".

The reactionary intolerance and bigotry of violent Jihadism and White Nationalism are cut from the same cloth. They even share targeting of Jews. And they all hate liberals, dissent, and a free press. Fusing politics and religion is always destructive to life, truth, and democracy.

Godwin's Law has been revised by Godwin himself: "First, let me get this Donald Trump issue out of the way: If you’re thoughtful about it and show some real awareness of history, go ahead and refer to Hitler or Nazis when you talk about Trump. Or any other politician."

The Trump cult is proving to be the spawn of nationalism and fundamentalism. A match made in hell, I dare say.

The very real and very deadly threat of the American Axis of Evil brings us to consider the theme often attributed to Sinclair Lewis, although no one can source the exact quote.

“When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”

Whoever first said it was paying attention to the simmering undercurrent of far Right America.

Also attributed to Sinclair Lewis, without source:

“The worst Fascists were they who disowned the word “Fascism” and preached enslavement to Capitalism under the style of Constitutional and Traditional Native American Liberty.”

Now we’re getting to the inner essence of the radical Right.

The following are more great statements on the merging of religion, corporatism, and nationalism into the roots of American neo-fascism.

“Every robber or oppressor in history has wrapped himself in a cloak of patriotism or religion, or both. I am not a patriot as defined in the lexicon of the house of Morgan. I’d not murder my fellow men of my own accord, and why should I do it at the behest of the master class?” - Eugene Debs

“No wonder Jackson said that ‘Patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels’. He had the Wall Street gentry in mind or their prototypes, at least; for in every age it has been the tyrant, who has wrapped himself in the cloak of patriotism, or religion, or both.” - Eugene Debs

“The Ku Klux Klan comes wrapped in the American flag, as it were, advocating the American principles openly, with a Bible in its hand, and the very next day they are passing their neighbors with a mask over their faces.” Lonnie Jackson, mayor of Central City, Kentucky and president of District No. 23 of the United Mine Workers of America, 1923

“When and if fascism comes to America it will not be labeled ‘made in Germany’; it will not be marked with a swastika; it will not even be called fascism; it will be called, of course, Americanism.” - Professor Halford E. Luccock of the Divinity School of Yale University, September 1938.

“The truth is that Henry Wallace and former President Roosevelt have advocated supplementing our political Bill of Rights with an economic charter of rights, so that Fascism will not slip up on us wrapped in the flag and traveling in the name of free enterprise.” - Irving Johns letter published in the “Cleveland Plain Dealer 1945

And lest we forget America’s Last Prophet:

“When fascism comes to America, it will not be in brown and black shirts. It will not be with jack-boots. It will be Nike sneakers and Smiley shirts … Germany lost the Second World War. Fascism won it. Believe me, my friend.” – George Carlin

Now the American Axis of Evil comes into clear focus. That should just about cover it, but I would add this:

When Fascism comes to America, Americans will not recognize it.
When Fascism comes to America, Americans will want to be great again.
When Fascism comes to America, Americans will welcome it.

Patriotism v Nationalism

The post election press conference went as expected. The authoritarian leader declared victory after losing the House of Representatives.

Of course the press was attacked again. There were more whining accusations about “hostile media”, “fake news” and “enemy of the people”.

And this included a personal attack on Jim Acosta. "You are a rude, terrible person. You shouldn't be working for CNN."

So much for toning down the rhetoric.

But the White Nationalist had more rage to vent.

“Such a racist question!” Trump interrupted Yamiche Alcindor, the black female correspondent for PBS. He accused her several times that the question was "racist" and "insulting". She wasn’t allowed to finish her question without being interrupted. All she wanted was clarification on what he meant by calling himself a nationalist. In framing her question, she mentioned people saw it as emboldening white nationalists.

And there it is.

No wonder he didn’t want to answer her question. No wonder he projected “racist” at a black woman. White nationalists like Trump see themselves as “nationalists”, not white nationalists. They think we can’t see the sheet if they don’t hold it up, but we remember it was his birther flag that first rallied his base.

Here’s the thing. Patriots love their country. They serve their country, the Constitution and above all the people. Most of us are patriots to one degree or another. Most of us are not nationalists.

Nationalists are different. They say the love the country, but hate half the people. They claim to want law and order, but when justice investigates their crimes, they attack justice. They hate democracy. They hate equality.

They want purity and power and superiority over not only other nations, but over domestic opposition as well. They don’t want to govern by fact, reason or compromise. They want to rule. They are very white and very conservative, and often very racist. And they are backed by the gilded elites and duped authoritarian evangelicals.

This is the Nationalist Party of Trump.

Anyone dividing the people, threatening political opponents, obstructing justice, and calling the press the enemy of the people, while bragging about being a nationalist IS evil.

He's doing what every evil tyrant in history has done.

Too many Americans have been asking for it. The sheep are drinking the koolade and following the authoritarians into the darkness of the coming abyss. And they will drag us with them, if we let them.  We American Patriots need to clearly see the threat to our country, to vote and to defend democracy and to stop the Nationalist Party of Trump.

This election showed just how weak the Patriotic resistance is. The House is all we have for constitutional checks and balances. They are up against the corrupted radical Right White House and Senate. And their efforts will be blunted by a Supreme Court now owned by the forces of the Corporate/puritanical Right.

The Constitutional crisis that has been brewing for two years is about to come to a boil. Carl Bernstein is right. The “Cold Civil War” is here.

The United States might survive. But it will not be the same. A democratic republic cannot survive unless the Party of Trump and its owners are defeated and prevented from ever gaining power again. This express train to fascism is only being slowed temporarily.

For that we can be proud and grateful. But this is no time to rest in false comfort.

Meanwhile their war on justice, equality, decency, democracy, the free press, and the truth continues.

And for that I call them evil. We Patriots must always stand against the evil of anti-democratic corporatist nationalism.

Trump And Evil

Is Trump evil?

This is a question that needs open discussion in our gravely ill democratic republic.

I dared to make this statement: Those who side with Trump are wittingly, or unwittingly, siding with evil.

A conservative friend could’t see my point, and declared, “Anyone that supports Trump is siding with evil? Yeah, that is the way to tone down the bombastic rhetoric.”

I dare call out evil when I see it. If that is bombastic, so be it. (As if Trump ISN'T the real bombastic one?)

I’ll be as bombastic as I please as long as Trump bends the knee to Putin and his lies before the world, and sides with him, over our professional law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

I’ll be as bombastic as I please as long as Trump shreds truth and decency, and aids and abets corruption in our government, and fuels widespread hate in our national discourse.

Maybe I'm not being bombastic at all. Unlike Trump, I am just being honest.

Here is an accepted definition of Evil: profoundly immoral and malevolent... harmful; injurious

Trump IS evil. By almost any definition. He admitted to sex crimes. He is greedy. He is dishonest. He is narcissistic. He is a racist and rose to power on racist birtherism. He lies, he cheats, he hates, he instills and aggravates fear, anger, and resentments. And he employs all of that in service to his self-aggrandizement and power.

Isn't that evil enough?

There's more. Much more.

One would think his deliberate and cruel policy of child abuse and trauma for people seeking asylum would make that clear. One would think his tax cuts for the rich and gutting health care and aid to the poor would make that clear. But no. All of a sudden the debt isn't a worry, until they want to cut out more public safety nets. Hypocrisy is evil too. It reeks of lies.

Trump is evil. If one supports him, one supports evil. Deal with it, deny it, deflect from it all day. But evil is evil, no matter what excuses his Party, white nationalists, or the rest of his cult want to make.

And there is this: “It is outrageous what the Democrats are doing to our Country. Vote Republican now!”  Trump tweeted along with the vile ad blaming Democrats for a cop killer, that is so racist networks are refusing to air it.

Message received:

“Go Trump Go! Your Midterm Ad is a masterpiece personifying the insanity of our immigration Policy. Bravo Trump!” - David Duke

Evil supporting evil. White Nationalism on display for all to see.

Voter suppression, gerrymandering, a far Right propaganda network, corrupt billionaires, and lies from the Party of Trump work ceaselessly to assure that pendulum never swings back to the center, let alone to the left.

They will succeed as long as ignorant, clueless, fearful, angry Americans see no evil in Trump and his Party, as they coddle the rich and screw the poor, as they pollute our air and water, and dismantle democracy and destroy the truth.

Many reformed Republicans and decent conservatives agree with me.

The bottom line today is this: A vote against the Party of Trump is a vote against evil.

Sunday Sermon

While few may be disappointed, there will be no preaching from "Rev. Dave" today.

Instead I present a final Sunday sermon, before the voters of the United States decide between truth and lies, between decency and hate, and between democracy and white nationalism.

Today two special guest pastors shall have the pulpit.

~~~~~~
Christianity and Totalitarianism
From the chapter entitled "Christianity and Totalitarianism" from Disputed Questions (1960) by Thomas Merton
A mass movement readily exploits the discontent and frustration of large segments of the population which for some reason or other cannot face the responsibility of being persons and standing on their own feet. But give these persons a movement to join, a cause to defend, and they will go to any extreme, stop at no crime, intoxicated as they are by the slogans that give them a pseudo-religious sense of transcending their own limitations. The member of a mass movement, afraid of his own isolation, and his own weakness as an individual, cannot face the task of discovering within himself the spiritual power and integrity which can be called forth only by love. Instead of this, he seeks a movement that will protect his weakness with a wall of anonymity and justify his acts by the sanction of collective glory and power. All the better if this is done out of hatred, for hatred is always easier and less subtle than love. It does not have to respect reality as love does. It does not have to take account of individual cases. Its solutions are simple and easy. It makes its decisions by a simple glance at a face, a colored skin, a uniform. It identifies an enemy by an accent, an unfamiliar turn of speech, an appeal to concepts that are difficult to understand. He is something unfamiliar. This is not "ours." This must be brought into line - or destroyed.
Here is the great temptation of the modern age, this universal infection of fanaticism, this plague of intolerance, prejudice and hate which flows from the crippled nature of man who is afraid of love and does not dare to be a person. It is against this temptation most of all that the Christian must labor with inexhaustible patience and love, in silence, perhaps in repeated failure, seeking tirelessly to restore, wherever he can, and first of all in himself, the capacity of love and which makes man the living image of God.
Thomas Merton (1915-1968) was an American Trappist monk, writer, theologian, mystic, poet, social activist, and scholar of comparative religion. On May 26, 1949, he was ordained to the priesthood and given the name Father Louis.
~~~~~~

And we close with the famous poem about Nazis by German Pastor Martin Niemoeller:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

- Amen.

Go in peace. Go and vote.

American Axis Of Evil

Just this past week in Trump America we’ve had three white nationalist MAGA nut terrorist attacks in our country. Is it just a coincidence the president has just recently proclaimed himself a "nationalist"?

A racist in Kentucky shot down and murdered innocent Black Americans. A MAGA hat wearing Trump fanatic sent bombs to the people and press his leader named as enemies.

Trump, FOX(R) and Limbaugh are deflecting blame to the targets, and therefore abetting the terrorist.

Today a white nationalist terrorist gunned down his victims in a synagogue.

All in just one week in America. This should shake us to a certain realization.

Make no mistake. This trend of domestic terrorism is the fetid fruit of Trump’s white nationalism, unleashed upon what is fast becoming a terminally diseased democratic republic.

Trump didn’t commit these crimes, but there is no doubt he inspired them. And he had help.

The Party of Trump continues in its failure to denounce the hate from their leader. They are culpable.

FOX(R) and Limbaugh did their best to shield the MAGA bomber’s intent and blame it on Democrats, or the hated “Left”. They are also culpable.

This is the true face of the new American white nationalist con-servatism. And make no mistake, this far Right brand of conservatism was built by the Republican Party and their propaganda network.

Now Trump, the Party of Trump, and their voices of hate at FOX and talk radio are inspiring and abetting a wave of far Right terrorism.

The MAGA MOB is the real enemy of the people.

They are the American Axis of Evil

This is what defenders of justice, human decency, and reason are up against. It is imperative that good Americans of conscience understand the struggle for freedom, equality and democracy will never end.

This coming election is when Americans accept or reject white nationalism. We’ll find out if they finally see the dark cloud of evil that has shrouded the land. Will we the people understand this MOB of white nationalist domestic terrorists, criminals, and traitors are the most dangerous threat against our democracy?

Look at the Republicans' gerrymandering and extensive campaign of minority voter suppression. Look at what they are doing to voters and voting machines in Georgia. This is their agenda for the nation. Speak out. Call out, and condemn, the hate.

And vote.

Here is the sad truth. If Democrats take the House, the MAGAt MOB will step up their aggression and violence in their war on equality and democracy.

Count on it.

Even if we lose, our conscience is clear, and guides us in the certainty that our cause is just.

Stay strong. Get active. Call out the white nationalist American Axis of Evil for what it is.

Some Simple Reason

There's some simple reason why every rube, dupe, racist, white nationalist, Klansman, neo-Nazi, white supremacist  and Pizzagate/Alex Jones paranoid conspiracy nut supports and defends Trump.

There's got to be some simple reason why those people resent, fear and hate liberals, minorities, teachers, journalists, and climate scientists. There must be a simple reason why they oppose minority voting rights, women’s rights, labor rights, unions, democracy, public healthcare, public safety nets, higher education, and public education so intensely.

Is there some simple reason why these frightened and ill-informed Americans want to eliminate Constitutional regulation of commerce, and Constitutional taxes on powerful corporate and economic elites? Can there be a simple reason why they oppose our Constitutional general welfare by regulations on polluters and bankers?

Is there a simple reason why all of this resentment, anger, and hate primarily serve the interests of the Republicans, the Right, the rich, and the Party of Trump?

There must be some simple reason why resentful and angry authoritarian personalities love, support, and defend Trump so fanatically they have abandoned basic human decency.

After only my first sip of coffee, I can think of one particular simple reason.

The simple reason is Trump hates the same people they hate.

It is that simple. THEY are that simple.

It’s the hate, stupid.

Their hate is learned. It is indoctrinated. It is fed, and force fed relentlessly. It is the conformity of the Cult of Right-wing Authoritarian Personalities. It is manifested as the true Trump Derangement Syndrome, infecting an authoritarian cult of fear, resentment, anger, and hate.

All of this resentment, fear, and hate is engendered to manipulate and motivate enough voters to fuel the political agenda of corporate interests, and to maximize profit and power for the ruling economic elites.

It seems indeed, to this simple mind, a fairly simple explanation for all this.

The question is, why can’t other simple people get it? When will enough figure out conservatives tend to be authoritarians.

“I don’t know why they don’t take care of a situation like that. I think it’s embarrassing for the country to allow protesters.”
—President Donald J. Trump, Sept. 4, 2018

“If conservatives realize they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism, they will abandon democracy.” – David Frum

“Today’s Democrat Party is held hostage by left-wing haters, angry mobs, deep-state radicals, establishment cronies and their fake-news allies,” Trump railed. “Our biggest obstacle and their greatest ally actually is the media.”

So who are Trump’s allies?

Putin’s puppet loves him some dictators. “Kim Jong Un of North Korea proclaims “unwavering faith in President Trump.” Thank you to Chairman Kim. We will get it done together!”

Trump has more allies in low places, as well.

Robert D. Chain, who was arrested for allegedly threatening to murder journalists at the Boston Globe while mimicking Trump’s language, also connected Mueller’s investigation to the media. “You’re the enemy of the people, and we’re going to kill every f–––ing one of you,” Chain snarled into one employee’s voicemail, according to FBI documents. “Why don’t you call Mueller, maybe he can help you out.”

In the same week New York Times reporter Ken Vogel received this threatening voicemail.

“You are the enemy of the people. And although the pen might be mightier than the sword, the pen is not mightier than the AK-47.”

And in Florida:

"Well, hello there,” the call begins as the sounds of drums and monkeys can be heard in the background, “I is Andrew Gillum...We Negroes . . . done made mud huts while white folk waste a bunch of time making their home out of wood an' stone."

The speaker goes on to say he'll pass a law letting African Americans evade arrest “if the Negro know fo' sho' he didn't do nothin'."

No wonder Trump and his white nationalist and fascist allies have to project their “angry mob” accusations against pro-democracy dissenters.

It is all part of their hate for Americans, and scorn for American values of equality and consent of the governed.

This election is when Americans will choose white nationalist fascism over democracy. Even if MORE Americans vote for Democratic Senators and Representatives, the Right can hold dominance in our failed state. This is no longer a democratic republic when democracy is defeated.

Democracy: Use it or lose it.

Are We Bored Yet?

Let’s have a “Retro Party” with our favorite conservative, and former blogger, T. Paine.

Since the last post’s theme is based on a dialogue answering a Trump supporter’s question, I’ll take the liberty of showing this ongoing dialogue with our old friend Mr. Paine at Tom Degan’s blog. Tom’s been taking his time in moderating the comments so I thought I’d give an express version here.

We have the familiar accusations, commie cards, victim cards, unilateral definitions, and whataboutisms, of course.

=========

TP:

This is not about a fair hearing for a supreme court nominee. This is about brazen leftist partisanship stoked by hate and fear in an attempt to derail a highly qualified jurist from being seated on the SCOTUS bench. Nothing more. The presumption of innocence is dead on the left. For that matter, a return to communist tactics of the mere suggestion of impropriety without substantiation is acceptable in order to achieve the desired end results. We have gone far beyond Alinsky tactics and reverted to Stalinist tactics now. You all should be very proud of your part to dismantle our republic. If the Left were to gain unfettered power, it would be less than a decade before the United States more closely resembled Venezuela.

==
DD:

“Communist tactics!” “Stalinist!” “Venezuela!”, shrieks the knee-jerk conservative hysteria response, as the LIE DETECTOR graph jumps at the bullshit filled hate.

If Ford's allegations had 1/10th as much evidence in support of them as Kavanaugh does for a leftist cabal against him, then I dare say even Republican senators would be removing there support for him.

Right, she passed a lie detector. We can just trust the Republican operative.

How about a lie detector for Mr. Sniffles and his drinking buddy? Not fair! amirite?

And how about that “fair” FBI investigation that was supposed to go for a pitiful week, yet the LIARS cut it down to three days? A so-called “investigation” that refused to question the people present and witnesses of Sniffles Kavanaugh’s blind drunk behavior?

I would imagine Mr. Paine’s daughter would get more sympathy if she was assaulted, and trembled in fear of death threats, to tell her story. Mr Paine will believe any slimy Republican over any woman, even though she passed a lie detector! It is con-servatism. He’s not enraged about the death threats, though, because only liberals are evil.

No... I don't see any reason why Judge Kavanaugh wouldn't think that there was a grand leftist "resist" conspiracy against him.

“Not fair!” whines the outraged snowflake con-servative, while Merrick Garland was treated so respectfully by the “constitutional” Republicans, amirite? The evil drips from their hateful hypocrisy.

The "Renate Alumnius" treats all women "with respect". Another LIE.

"But I did not drink beer to the point of blacking out… Passed out would be—no, but I've gone to sleep, but—but I've never blacked out." Self-righteous Mr. Sniffles whines.

The "blatant lying" and "lying under oath" inspired two of his Yale classmates to dispute his account in separate CNN interviews. Brookes described him as "stumbling drunk" and said, "I can almost guarantee that he doesn't remember that night." Swisher countered that "there's no problem with drinking beer in college; the problem is lying about it," and that "I don't think many of his answers were credible."

The FBI “investigation” didn’t want to hear from them. I wonder why? And why can’t we see the directive? Not our business, I suppose. Only evil liberals want transparency.

Mr. Paine even repeated a LIE Angry Mr. Sniffles Kavanaugh uttered while under oath, declaring everyone at the party "refuted" Dr. Ford's allegation. HE LIED UNDER OATH!!! Where is that "constitutional"? The only ones refuting the claim were Kavanaugh and his toady lush drinking buddy.

THEY are who we should trust, NOT the woman who was threatened and passed a lie detector test. Why? IOKIYAR. They are all sickening amoral authoritarian hypocrites and liars.

==
TP:

“Right, she passed a lie detector. We can just trust the Republican operative.” ~ Dubya

Yep, that is what she claimed. I even believed that she was likely assaulted at one time and may even sincerely believe that Kavanaugh was guilty of that crime; however, in her quest to bring forth the truth to the senate judiciary committee during the Kavanaugh hearings, she didn’t want to release the actual lie detector test or her therapist notes to the senators. That is when my benefit of the doubt regarding her story began to get stretched. And yes, her story was not corroborated and was also REFUTED by even her one friend whom she claimed was with her at the party. She said she was NEVER at any such party and did not even know Kavanaugh. I know that words mean different things to some leftists though. What does “refute” mean to you, Mr. Dubya?

Oh, and by the way, there were death threats made to Ford AND Kavanaugh, so you also can put away your newly found sense of morality, sir. Did you and J.G. get a buy-one-get-one free sense of morality? Like I said, I am glad that you all are on the right track. The fact that this is new to you gives you a little leeway in my book. You first need to have actual evidence before making such an allegation if you wish to hold on to your new-found morality though.

“Mr. Paine is outraged liberals spent money to keep angry Mr. Sniffles, the man of even temperament, off the Supreme Court.” ~ Dubya

Yep. The right wouldn’t have needed to spend millions in response if the left would simply have let the hearings proceed. Instead, Feinstein-supported harpies invaded and disrupted the proceedings with press passes that she and her “Democrat” allies signed for them. It is interesting that the Democrats time and again have to rely on paid protesters to do their dirty work. Cowards.

Next, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you forgot my stance on Judge Garland. I did not care for him, but I thought that McConnell was dead wrong in not allowing a hearing and vote to proceed on his nomination. Although he didn’t always follow the Constitution, Obama was well within his rights on this one and the Republicans were wrong in not following their constitutional duties.

Then, of course, Mr. Dubya follows the leftist playbook precisely after that. The Democrats couldn’t make an unsubstantiated allegation of sexual assault stick to Kavanaugh, so then they changed the tune to his temperament and his drinking. Good lord. Throw it all up against the wall and see if anything sticks in your desperation. As I said, I cared enough about your opinion way back to get pissed just with your allegations of racism towards me; I can definitely understand Kavanaugh’s temperament towards the game-playing Democrats of smearing him with such thin accusations of sexual assault. I think he showed remarkable restraint towards Feinstein, Durbin, and the rest of the romper room crowd there accordingly.

==

DD:
Mr. Paine now spews the hypocritical party line: “I even believed that she was likely assaulted at one time and may even sincerely believe that Kavanaugh was guilty”

In other words, she is either a liar or a victim of false memory of assault. “100% certain” is how she put it. But conservatives are 200% certain only THEY know she’s wrong.

Like a typical authoritarian Trump supporter, he trusts Trump and doesn’t believe a woman who passed a lie detector. The woman lied, but NOT TRUMP and Mr. Sniffles. Nosiree. But “Character matters”. Right. Like “Law and order” matters more than justice.

Mr. Paine hides behind ignorance, or an arrogantly assumed authority, to define words again.

Refute: prove (a statement or theory) to be wrong or false; disprove.
"these claims have not been convincingly refuted"

synonyms: disprove, prove wrong, prove false, debunk, discredit, invalidate;

More

prove that (someone) is wrong. deny or contradict (a statement or accusation).

Mr. Paine, Mr. Sniffles, Trump, and their cult are the ones who refute Dr. Ford, as in “deny or contradict”.

The woman said she BELIEVED Dr. Ford. Not remembering the specific gathering, uneventful from her experience, is NOT refuting. Only in the twisted cult mentality of the radical Right can that be called “refute”.

In fact they are LIARS!

This is a LIE from a sex offender Mr. Paine regurgitates. I don’t see any liberals, let alone an entire party, out there repeating Clinton’s lies. IOKIYAR.

The difference being, she gets death threats after she PASSED a lie detector! Mr. Paine and his fellow authoritarians will dismiss, discredit, demean, and deny it. Ideology over truth. Power over justice. This is con-servatism. It is putrid.

As I noted all this far Right hate has been ramped up for decades by FOX(R) and Limbaugh. They embrace that hate so deeply they accuse liberals of being evil commies and call the press the enemy of the people.

Damn that blind hate and closed minded cult. Loyalty to a cult is not a virtue. They are captives of evil and don’t know it. They act as if they believe a conservative ideology is virtue itself.

They are enemies of truth and democracy, and consent of the governed, because those are liberal values.

“the Democrats time and again have to rely on paid protesters to do their dirty work. Cowards.”  MORE Trumpism. Pure ignorance and hate.

What a hypocrite. As if FOX(R) didn’t openly financially support the damn racist Tea Party protests against the Black President, AND shill for the racist Trump.

Mr. Paine admits the Republicans were wrong about Garland. No outrage, mind you. Instead Trump mocked Dr. Ford’s painful testimony and Mr. Paine still takes Trump’s side. Dr. Ford is the “liar” who passed the lie detector, and the Democrats are the real enemy.

I think he showed remarkable restraint towards Feinstein, Durbin, and the rest of the romper room crowd there accordingly.

Of course he’d think so. He gets to redefine words. Can he show us a Democratic appointee who behaved that way? No. Angry Mr. Sniffles is a privileged, elite, white brat, among an entire party of them.

This is why reasonable discussion and debate is impossible with this arrogant evil cult of self righteous greed, division, and hate.

And they insist they alone have “values”. Yeah, we know what those value$ are. We know just how Christian and honest they are. They think they can fool everybody.

Then they get mad when their hate and lies are called out.

This is con-servatism.

Mr. Dubya, I do not know with 100% certainty that Kavanaugh is not lying any more than you know with 100% certainty that Ford is not lying. That said, "old fashioned Americans" like yourself should understand the concept of "presumption of innocence" until proven guilty. This USED to be the cornerstone of our justice system before the left's turn to automatic convictions of anyone ever accused of any infraction if they are right of center politically. (Anyone associated with Trump should be given life sentences or worse, I suppose, right? After all, we are all lumped in that same basket of deplorables in Idiot Nation.)

This presumption of innocence SHOULD hold true especially when there is no supporting evidence of the allegations. This includes Ford's inadmissible lie detector test you keep mentioning. There is a reason these tests are not admissible in court. They can be beaten and are not definitive proof of honesty. I dare say that someone trained in psychiatry might even know the mechanisms with which to defeat such tests.

Of course we won't likely ever know this because Dr. Ford has refused to provide the actual transcript and results of those tests, along with her therapist notes to the senate in her quest to bring the "truth to light". THAT was my point that you obviously or perhaps intentionally missed. If she is only wanting to tell the truth, why does she refuse to share the results and transcripts of her lie detector test? Is she hiding something? THAT is when I started questioning the entire veracity of her story.

Like the Antifa fascist you have evidently become, you lump this all in with Trump. Anyone that disagrees with Dave Dubya is an authoritarian, right? You are as bad as these paid hipster protesters. In fact you are worse. They are often times ignorant of history, facts, and truth and don't know any better. You should know better and yet want to attach yourself to their "enlightened" form of hate in the snowflake brigades.

Refute Synonyms: disprove, prove wrong, prove false, debunk, discredit, invalidate; More
prove that (someone) is wrong. deny or contradict (a statement or accusation).

Ford's friend, Ms. Keyser said through her attorney, "Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford."

That seems to contradict, deny, and even discredit Ford's allegation, wouldn't you say? Go ahead and re-define the word again, sir. One would think that Keyser might remember a distraught Ford that was supposedly almost raped running out of the house in fear. It would seem reasonable that a friend would ask what had caused such a reaction in Ford. Instead Ford claims she never told anybody about the event until years later about this party where all named witnesses say that they have no memory of the party or events.

Ford cannot say where, when, or whose house it even was. She doesn't know how she got there or how she got home. But she is "100% certain" that it was Kavanaugh that assaulted her and she has the lie detector test she refuses to share that "proves" this.

The bottom line is that Kavanaugh was successfully seated on the SCOTUS bench and this is what truly outrages Mr. Dubya and his ilk. They are mad because they think this further empowers Trump as he and the senate carried out their constitutional duties in seating Kavanaugh. What it is truly about is that they are mad that the constitution was followed and once again limited their hatred fascist power as they attempt to dismantle America and remake it in some leftist totalitarian utopia where they can properly "re-educate" or "take care" of us "hateful" right wingers that failed to drink the Marxist Kool aid.

You are great at calling others hateful and liars and you do so with such vehemence, Mr. Dubya. Perhaps it is seeing these traits within yourself and loathing them so much that cause so much heat in your "debate" on these topics. I feel sorry for you, sir.

DD:

And here we go:

What it is truly about is that they are mad that the constitution was followed and once again limited their hatred fascist power as they attempt to dismantle America and remake it in some leftist totalitarian utopia where they can properly "re-educate" or "take care" of us "hateful" right wingers that failed to drink the Marxist Kool aid.

Mr. Paine loves not only to spew his white conservative Victim Card and his all-occasion hateful Commie Card, but like a true far Right authoritarian, he needed to play his hypocritical  “Mr. Constitution Card”. Why wasn’t he so annoyed when the Republicans denied the Black President his Constitutional duty? (Hint: Nothing partisan or racial to see here.) Why isn’t our own Mr. Constitution concerned with Trump’s violations of the Emoluments Clause? (Hint: Nothing partisan here.)

Turns out “IOKIYAR” is in his personal constitution.

The bottom line is that Kavanaugh was successfully seated on the SCOTUS bench and this is what truly outrages Mr. Dubya and his ilk. They are mad because they think this further empowers Trump as he and the senate carried out their constitutional duties in seating Kavanaugh.

Mr. Constitution is very annoyed with liberals opposing a long time Republican OPERATIVE to the Supreme Court. The same man who has openly suggested the president is immune to the law. Then he decides the woman who passed a lie detector is the real liar, and the beer soaked privileged partisan white guy is telling the truth.

Figures. Does Mr. Constitution really believe that courtroom standards for criminal conviction are identical to a Senate confirmation process?

What is really revealing is the slime he wants to spread on Dr. Ford for not wanting her patient/ therapist  confidentiality violated. Issues and information that have nothing to do with the case at hand should not be forced from her. The same is true for the lie detector test. Mr. Constitution may be equally ignorant of that process as well. To establish a pattern, the person has to honestly answer many questions of a personal nature, that also having NOTHING to do with the case at hand.

But slime, he must. What else can we expect from the shrill paranoid lunacy of “Communist tactics!” “Stalinist!” “Venezuela!”?

Mr. Constitution seems very happy with the three day FBI “investigation” under Trump’s direction. “What investigation?”, we still ask. Say wasn’t it suppose to be a week?

Apparently ignoring all the witnesses to Mr. Sniffles’ drunken black outs is the path to the truth. Trump’s “truth”. Mr. Constitution’s “truth”.

That seems to contradict, deny, and even discredit Ford's allegation, wouldn't you say? (Dr. Ford's friend saying she believes her but cannot remember the party)

No. I wouldn't say so, because it does not, by definition, REFUTE Dr. Ford, which was my point.

And back we go to Mr. Paine's superpower of the far Right to unilaterally define terms.

That seems to contradict, deny, and even discredit Ford's allegation, wouldn't you say? "The woman said she BELIEVED Dr. Ford. Not remembering the specific gathering, uneventful from her experience, is NOT refuting."  Go ahead and re-define the word again, sir.

I know he misinterprets a lot when he’s angry, but the FACT is I presented definitions, NOT a re-definition. This is an ongoing theme of our discussions, along with the false accusations needed to play the “white victim card”, "commie card", etc.

And how’s THIS for re-defining?

Like the Antifa fascist you have evidently become

Another one, folks! "Antifa fascist". What’s next, I’m part of a “MOB?” I have a feeling Mr. Constitution is more sympathetic with Trump's “very fine people” than with me. After all, he seems to feel included with the deplorables.

Yes, Poor Mr. Paine still has no idea who the term was applied to. So he claims it. LOL!

Mr. Constitution is mystified why democrats are upset at having no power when 3 million more votes were for their candidate. Or when the House or Senate are held by a party that fewer American voters supported. He arrogantly accused them of “failure” at the ballot box.

Imagine his never-ending bile and anger if his party got more votes, as the other one takes power. We can imagine, for he cannot. Their empathy is up there with their wisdom, grasp of facts, and compassion.

All of this proves the Right is opposed to the Constitution when the Black Guy is in office, opposed to democracy, and opposed to the consent of the governed. THE “old fashioned American value”.

All they want is to maintain their conservative white privilege, and for the rich to have more wealth, along with dominant political power. They want the poor to have reduced public safety nets, less healthcare, and inadequate education. They might not admit it outright, but they enthusiastically support polices and politicians that accomplish just that.

And most of all the want others to LOSE, especially those they fear and loathe. Somebody other than the rich have got to pay. Let’s raise the debt, and gut Medicaid and food stamps, so the Kochs and Trump get a tax cut.

Con-servative “value$”.

A Good Question

I have to thank a far Right Trump supporter for asking a simple question that needs to be answered, for the good of our country. The more Americans who ask this question, the sooner America can go back to making itself a greater democratic republic.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Q: What law has President Trump broken while in office? Waiting.

A: Yes, we are waiting for justice to take its course. In addition to violations of the Constitution's Emoluments Clause, multiple counts of obstruction of justice are the most obvious.

From Brookings:

Presidential obstruction of justice: The case of Donald J. Trump

...We concluded that there was substantial evidence that the president may have obstructed justice. Evidence supporting the elements of that offense—an obstructive act undertaken with corrupt intent and having the requisite connection to a grand jury or congressional proceeding—was available in public reports and testimony. In our view, the president’s then-known conduct, including his demand of loyalty from then-FBI Director Comey, his request that Comey “see [his] way clear” to letting National Security Advisor Michael Flynn go, his termination of Comey, and his other statements was similar to conduct that has previously supported federal obstruction charges and convictions.

Ten months later, as we release the updated second edition of the report, it has become apparent that the president’s pattern of potentially obstructive conduct is much more extensive than we knew. To take only a few examples, it has since been reported that President Trump: attempted to block Attorney General Sessions’ recusing himself from the Russia investigation despite the AG’s clear legal duty to do so; asked Sessions to reverse his recusal decision; demanded and obtained the resignation of Sessions for his failure to contain the Russia investigation (before ultimately rejecting it); twice ordered the firing of Special Counsel Robert Mueller; dictated a false account for a key witness, his son Donald Trump Jr., of the June 9, 2016 Trump Tower meeting between campaign and Russian representatives; publicly attacked Special Counsel Mueller and key witnesses to the obstruction case; and has repeatedly disputed the underlying Russian attack and Vladimir Putin’s role in it despite possessing evidence to the contrary.

But why ask about only the crimes committed while in office?

He is already a named co-conspirator in breaking a campaign finance law.

Other past crimes may yet be uncovered, especially after tax and financial records are examined.

In addition to breaking these laws, he has broken all norms of decency, honesty, and honor.

He is breaking our independent judiciary and breaking the checks and balances of our republic. He has broken our founding ideal of consent of the governed.

He is breaking our Constitutional free press, and undermining journalism of its vital role in oversight and investigation. He is breaking democracy itself.

By praising autocrats and dictators, he is breaking our nation’s reputation, moral character, and standards in the world. He is breaking our standing in international cooperation, NATO, and agreements on climate change and the Iran deal.

And he has broken immigrant families apart.

None of this corruption and malevolence was wanted by a majority of American voters.
