The Real "Empty Barrel"

So much for honor and service.

Former general John Kelly supported his Orange Authoritarian leader’s botched consolation call, and the lies about it, to a woman who lost her husband while serving in Niger. Kelly’s subsequent attack on the military widow and her friend Congresswoman Wilson was the same far Right tactic of accusation, tinged with racism, for all who dare call out their lies.

Kelly claimed Congresswoman Wilson "stood up, and in a long tradition of empty barrels making the most noise, stood up there in all of that and talked about how she was instrumental in getting the funding for that building."

This is a lie, proven by video of the event in question. Right wing assholes don’t need no facts. This has always been true. Why should they worry about facts if they get in the way of their hate, greed and agenda for power?

Kelly was so filled with hate for the uppity Black woman, he repeated,  "even for someone that is that empty a barrel, we were stunned." Aww. Poor wittow stunned asshole.

Kelly told Fox News he used the phrase to eloquently "call people liars." This is the vile projection we see all the time from the radical far Right.

Proven liar John “Empty Barrel” Kelly refuses to admit to the lie and refuses to apologize.  He is a disgrace to not only the country and Constitution, but to basic human decency. No wonder he fits in so well with the Kremlin approved Trump Cartel.

John “Empty Barrel” Kelly had more to add to his dishonorable vile character. “I would tell you that Robert E. Lee was an honorable man.”

Yes, for defending slavery and treasonously killing thousands of American soldiers. You can bet every goddamned white racist is totally on board with him.

So much for “supporting" the US military. Let’s add ‘hypocrite” to “liar” and “asshole”, to bestow upon the far Right authoritarian John “Empty Barrel” Kelly.

Empty Barrel expanded on his ignorance by saying, “He was a man that gave up his country to fight for his state, which, 150 years ago, was more important than country. It was always loyalty to state first back in those days. Now it’s different today. But the lack of an ability to compromise led to the Civil War. And men and women of good faith on both sides made their stand where their conscience had to make their stand.”

More BS. The Revolution was fought for United States independence, not for individual state sovereignty.

His, “men and women of good faith on both sides” echoes his beloved Fuhrer’s praise for white racists marching with Nazis in Charlottesville.

Empty Barrel showed more stupidity with, “...the lack of an ability to compromise led to the Civil War”.

Oh, really? This from a far Right jerk from a party that refuses to compromise? What an ignorant asshole. (Pardon me if that term becomes redundant. I’m open to any other descriptor that would be more accurate.)

The Compromise of 1850, allowed the South to implement slavery in new U.S. territories gained during the Mexican-American War.

Author Ta-Nehisi Coates  tweeted, “...it’s called The three fifths compromise for a reason”, referring to the constitutional provision that increased representation for slave states in the House of Representatives in 1787.

Coates added, “But it doesn’t stand alone,  “Missouri Compromise. Kansas-Nebraska Act.”

He later tweeted there was also the Compromise of 1877, which further disenfranchised black people once federal troops withdrew from Southern states.

Coates summed it up with, “Shocking that someone charged with defending their country, in some profound way, does not comprehend the country they claim to defend.”

I would say this now applies to the vast majority of the morally bankrupt Party Of Trump.

John “Empty Barrel” Kelly is a viper, who fits in perfectly with the snake pit that infects our White House.

Kinda like Bernie when he say everybody has to pay their fair share of taxes. Except Bernie. amirite?

Out-of-Character Stivic,

"Listen to my words, and pay no attention to my actions."

This quote was from the previous post, not this one; but thanks for your thorough attention and highly thoughtful remark.

You're not clear about what actions and what words you mean. And did Bernie really say, "everybody has to pay their fair share of taxes. Except Bernie."?

That doesn't sound at all like Bernie. He wants his bracket to pay more taxes.

Did you learn that at FOX(R)?

What else did you learn?

Dave Dubya: "Did you learn that at FOX(R)? What else did you learn?"

As we already know, there's nothing that could possibly be learned from FOX® News. Absolutely nothing. It's the designated propaganda arm of the corporate Republican Party -- no different than Pravda was used as a similar device for the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1918 to 1991.

Whether FOX® News or Pravda, all you'll get is the party-line and nothing else. Followers of either are, and were, loyalists to their party -- but traitors toward truth.

"Worse than a crime, it was a blunder" (attributed to Talleyrand). It's impossible to serve Trump without ending up covered in slime, but you'd think Kelly would at least have had the sense to check whether there existed objective documentation of the speech he was about to misquote.

Refusing to apologize when his false statements were exposed is purely despicable, though. He should have admitted he was wrong after being proven so.

It is, of course, a myth that the South fought the Civil War for states' rights. It was always primarily about defending slavery. The Southern states' own declarations of secession make that clear. As for compromise, there were multiple efforts to compromise with the slavers during the years before the war. Kelly seems surprisingly ignorant of American history.

In any case, would a successful compromise have been a good thing? Even if it allowed slavery to persist longer? At best, he wasn't thinking about what he was saying.

JG,

Did you see the account of FOX(R) coverage on the morning of the indictments? All about attacking Hillary, of course.

Here’s What ‘Fox & Friends’ Covered On Manafort Indictment Day

Infidel,

To be admitted into the White House, the following must be checked at the door:

1. Facts
2. Honesty
3. Compassion
4. Compromise
5. Basic human decency

All of these have no place in the Oval Office. Russians are always welcome.

"I told Bernie I had found Hillary’s Joint Fundraising Agreement. I explained that the cancer was that she had exerted this control of the party long before she became its nominee. Had I known this, I never would have accepted the interim chair position, but here we were with only weeks before the election.

Bernie took this stoically. He did not yell or express outrage. Instead he asked me what I thought Hillary’s chances were. The polls were unanimous in her winning but what, he wanted to know, was my own assessment?

I had to be frank with him. I did not trust the polls, I said. I told him I had visited states around the country and I found a lack of enthusiasm for her everywhere. I was concerned about the Obama coalition and about millennials."

I love it. Donna has thrown both Hillary and Obama under the bus in the article.

The DemocRats are starting to eat their own.

The Podesta group is being exposed what Rats they are and their role in lining up rich Russians with Bonnie and Clyde Clinton.

Arch,

We see you need to deflect and distract from the subject again.

But since you bring up Rats, are there any worse RATS than the ones who insult a grieving war widow and call her a liar?

I know you agree.

Dave Dubya: "But since [ArchieBunkerUSA] bring[s] up Rats, are there any worse RATS than the ones who insult a grieving war widow and call her a liar?"

I can't think of any. It's really the lowest form of humankind that would -- lower than a slithering snake, really. I'd venture a guess that Donald Trump is probably Satan, incarnate, and the wicked irony is that Chuck worships him. ;-)

"I know you agree."

Any decent and loving human being would agree, of course, but than again we're talking about Chuck Morre.

Insult a grieving widow?

lol on the buffoon with the red hat.

Maybe she should run with Hugh "Guam may tip over" Johnson for President/Vice President in 2020. That's the winning ticket. amirite?

Dave Dubya said...

JG,

And right on cue... You are right again. Any decent and loving human being would agree, of course...

Arch is knocking on the door again. He wants to distract and deflect back to Donna Brazile.

I see no point in allowing that, especially after he refused to agree that RATS insult a grieving war widow and call her a liar. Instead he insulted the Black war widow's Black friend, who spoke on her behalf.

His disrespect for the Gold Star widow is apparently based on the skin tone of the widow and her friend. Not that it matters. No grieving family member should ever be so disrespected.

Arch offers more proof of the Party Of Trump's utter lack of basic human decency. They are a cult devoted to their Leader and his sick campaign to make America hate again.

Trump can only destroy, never build. Government is not a business. The only walls we need are between business and government, and between church and state. The founders knew this as well.

Trump will be the most dishonored, and likely most despised, president in history. His cult will be known to be rife with Klansmen, Neo-Nazis, Racists, ammosexuals, militia nuts, and easily duped low-information rubes.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

Dave, your comment explains it perfectly. Trump will most definitely be the most despised and dishonored president in American history. His Republican predecessor claimed the title of "The Decider"; this man has shown that his only capability lies in being "the divider".

As for his still blind cult of followers - Chuck obviously among them - Hillary Clinton tagged them perfectly: "the deplorables". Equally accurate synonyms are the disgraceful, shameful, dishonorable, unworthy, and inexcusable. In other words they're mostly the dregs of society, who only strive to push us to the bottom with them.

Always push back.

Dave Dubya said...

JG,

Now Arch wants to project about the "Democrat Party" being "rotten to the core with corruption and lies".

Not that we need him to remind us. The problem with the Democratic Party is they are often too much like Republicans.

If he could show us a trace of human decency for the Black Gold Star widow and admit to Kelly's lies about her Black friend, I would allow him to comment. But I have to draw the line somewhere. He found it.

They are proud of being racist "deplorables". Hate is their language.

Republicans are the Party Of Trump, therefore the Party of Klansmen, Neo-Nazis, Racists, ammosexuals, militia nuts, and easily duped low-information rubes.

Their authoritarian billionaire leaders play them like hillbilly fiddles.

By comparison they make Democrats look like saints.
