Praise for Putin

Putin has invaded Ukraine.

Watch how he and many Republicans will blame Biden. No matter. This blood is on Putin’s hands alone.

Putin's authoritarian cronies are threatening anyone who dares to show dissent.

Moscow’s Mayakovsky Theater has forbidden its actors from making “ANY comments AT ALL” about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The city’s Culture Dept. reportedly says any negative comments will be considered “treason.”

Russian TV is showing Trump's praise for Putin to justify his invasion.

Putin said his country strives to achieve the "demilitarization and de-nazification" of Ukraine. (President Zelensky is Jewish.)

Lucky for us Putin won't try this for the US because all of our neo-Nazis are Trump supporters.

President Biden has been correctly warning us that this was about to happen. He was mocked by the Right, of course.

The American radical Right simultaneously denounces President Biden for doing both “too much” and “too little” during this crisis.

 Of course they do.

Trump was “tough” for praising Putin, while Biden is “weak” for denouncing him.

What else can we expect from the party that sent members of the Senate and House to Russia for the Fourth of July in 2018?

For the record, the Red Square Republicans or “Moscow Mules” are:

Sens. Richard C. Shelby (Ala.), Steve Daines (Mont.), John Hoeven (N.D.), John Neely Kennedy (La.), Jerry Moran (Kan.), John Thune (S.D.) and Johnson, plus Rep. Kay Granger (Tex.).

It shouldn’t be a surprise to see how many Republicans praise Putin. After all, Trump was Putin’s favorite US president.

Let’s have a look at how many on the American radical Right revere their fellow authoritarian Putin.

Trump recently praised Putin's aggressive moves against Ukraine in a podcast interview with conservative podcaster Buck Sexton.

"I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, 'This is genius.' Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine — Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful! 'How smart is that?' And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s strongest peace force... We could use that on our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna keep peace all right. "Here’s a guy who’s very savvy... I know him very well. Very, very well."

"You gotta say that’s pretty savvy. And you know what the response was from Biden? There was no response. They didn’t have one for that. No, it’s very sad. Very sad. I knew Putin very well. I got along with him great. He liked me. I liked him. I mean, you know, he’s a tough cookie, got a lot of the great charm and a lot of pride.”

We've heard the latest evil lie from Mordor-A-Lago:

"It all happened because of a rigged election.”

And it’s not just Trump.

Here’s just a small sample of what the Putin fans in the Republican Party are saying:

Mike Pompeo: “Very shrewd & capable. Very talented statesman. Knows how to use power. Enormous respect for him" “He is a very talented statesman. He has lots of gifts. He was a KGB agent, for goodness sakes. He knows how to use power. We should respect that."

Mike Pence: “A stronger leader”

Rudy Giuliani: “Makes a decision & executes it. That’s what you call a leader”

Tucker Carlson: “Why is it disloyal to side with Russia...”

A Fox News Chyron under Tucker Carlson from Dec. 7, 2021: “Putin Just Wants to Keep His Western Border Secure”

Paul Gosar tweeted: “Putin puts Russia first as he should. Biden should put America first but instead he will let in terrorists and welfare seekers.”

Candace Owens tweeted this week: “I suggest every American who wants to know what’s *actually* going on in Russia and Ukraine, read this transcript of Putin’s address. As I’ve said for month — NATO (under direction from the United States) is violating previous agreements and expanding eastward. WE are at fault.”

Steve Bannon and Erik Prince are supporting Russia because Putin is anti-woke and has no tolerance for LGBTQ.

Trumpists have not been shy about it. We've see the t-shirts at Trump rallies proclaiming, "I'd rather be Russian than a Democrat". And so they would.

This should suffice as sufficient evidence of pervasive Republican loyalty to Putin.

Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, and Adam Kinzinger are some Republicans who are not among this pro-Putin faction. Obviously they are the ones who understand the threat Trump presents to our democracy.

~~~
On the other hand, there are brave and thoughtful Russians who refuse to support their version of Donald Trump:
Thousands of Russian anti-war protesters are taking to the streets.
Over 170 Russian journalists, including from Kremlin-run RT and TASS, have signed an open letter calling for an end to war with Ukraine.
Meanwhile, back in the US, we are facing our domestic Putinists.
Once again the US is about to see Putin’s Party on the ballot in our next election.
Woody,
I thought your comment from the previous thread would fit better here:
I follow Russian politics closely but I was surprised by the war on Ukraine, I thought Putin would stop at supporting the two breakaway provinces. It seems Putin wants to turn the clock back to when NATO had very little influence over Russia. I view this entire episode as another regime change failure of the U.S. If Obama left Ukraine alone this would not be happening and the full ramifications is still unknown. Since Russia is so important to Europe with gas and oil exports all the sanctions will create immense problems for the European economy. This is a major geopolitical shift and I think Russia will come out on top.
Woody blames everything on America. America is the oppressor. America is the aggressor. Not surprised your best buddy is a communist. You have the same traits.
Dave Dubya said...
Anonymous,
"Traits". Like what? Like someone showing loyalty to a liar who praises Putin?
It is very fascist of you to accuse someone of being a communist when you have no idea what communism is. Only your hateful ignorance is displayed when you provide no evidence that shows where the accused has advocated a revolution to establish government ownership of all agriculture, industry, production and distribution, as well as a dictatorship of the proletariat.
Supporting democracy and advocating voter rights, fair elections and representation, Constitutional taxes and regulation of commerce, public health care, and public education is NOT communism. This is why you call me a commie. It is your radical Right indoctrination.
Democrats are capitalists and progressives are not communists, no matter how many times you and Trump regurgitate that malicious lie. It is the historical standard behavior of fascists and Nazis to label their opponents as communists.
What you indicate by your false accusations are your own ignorance and indoctrinated hate for people and ideas you do not understand, and don't even want to understand.
That would be great IF you did that, but you are just a hate filled ass hole who has been banned from multiple blogs now left with only Woody who will talk to you
Dave Dubya said...
Are you afraid to identify yourself, Jerry/Vern?
And why are you frightened of addressing my topics of discussion?
I don't blame you. You seem so angry, and unable to articulate anything thoughtful or relevant.
I expect that lame cowardice from Anonymous Vern. Jerry seems to be following his example.
High standards of integrity ya got there, kids.
Why don't you go back and hide in Darrell's "safe space", where nobody will ask you questions you can't answer?
They love having you in their cute little "Bitch about Dave" playpen of toddler level emotions, paranoia, anger, delusions, and easily offended weakness of intellect.
All three of them.
Such delicate and fragile egos need to stick together, where nobody needs facts and evidence to accuse a person of being a "hate filled ass hole", "racist commie" and "America-hating leftist".
Your kind of place, I'm sure.
So keep throwing your turds over the fence like 13 year-old chicken-shit punks. It seems to be the level of discourse most suited for you.
I think you're jealous that Woody and I can disagree with mature civility. I'm honored to be such a formidable adversary that you can't face man-to-man.
Maybe you can find an adult to help you next time?
Dave will not publish this because it is racist or something.
Remember When Biden Promised to 'Restore the World Order'?
When Joe Biden was running for president, he promised to “fix” everything that Donald Trump had broken. All of the damage Trump had done to America’s alliances, all the feelings Trump had hurt with his mean tweets about world leaders, all the harm he had done to our friends, and all the help he had given our enemies — all of these wrongs would be righted if voters would only elect Joe Biden.
Voters elected Joe Biden, and instead of restoration, America finds itself on the precipice of disaster with nothing less than the post-World War II international order at risk of being completely upended by a Cossack thug in Vladimir Putin.
"From day one of a Biden administration, other countries will once again have reason to trust and respect the word of an American president.
Vladimir Putin doesn’t want me to be President. He doesn’t want me to be our nominee. If you’re wondering why — it’s because I’m the only person in this field who’s ever gone toe-to-toe with him.
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) February 21, 2020
How’s that workin’ out for ya, Joey?
Way to go Brandon.
Anon, you are so poorly informed politically that you cannot even make incorrect statements! You are so unsure of yourself that you are afraid to express your opinions because you do not want to look foolish.
You are afraid to post with a name because you do not want to take reasonability for your comments, in other words you are a total coward.
Better you than me.
Dave Dubya said...
Way to go, Darrell, or is it Rex?
Still afraid to stake your name to your words?
Your first sentence is wrong, isn't it?
Why didn't you show me where Biden claimed he would "Restore the World Order"?
Sounds like you're just regurgitating FOX(R).
Biden was correct. Why did Putin want Trump elected again?
Putin wanted his boot-licking, fawning, toady Trump to win. Ever wonder why Trump is afraid of the secret transcripts of him and Putin? I bet not. In Helsinki Putin had Trump like a dog on a leash.
Look at the example set by the US. Bush and Cheney lied us into war in Iraq and got re-elected. Obama attacked Libya. Open season on "regime change". The message was clear. Wars of aggression have become legitimatized.
Trump praises Putin and showed him rules don't apply to authoritarian bullies, from his blackmailing Ukraine to his coup in the US.
All of this horrible behavior gave Putin his green light to military aggression and war crimes.
What will you say if this war brings Putin down?
Reply with a name, or don't bother.
Ukraine reminds us of how a country that loves democracy and stands by its values and principles behaves. Many in the US (Trump, FAUX NOOZ, GQP) could learn from their commitment to freedom.
Instead they were at CPAC praising Putin. Trump's shooting his mouth off and praising Putin before the invasion began put Trumpistas in a bind. They mimicked Trump and called Putin a savvy genius being unfairly provoked by US and Ukraine. they're now in the decidedly minority position and look like the coddlers of a vicious tyrant. Trump and they will deserve every true American's undying contempt for their treachery.
The events of today were planned for decades, a dozen of the former Soviet states were drawn into NATO facilitated by the U.S. In 2008 the U.S. declared Ukraine and Georgia would be eligible to join NATO in the future, something Russia would never let happen.
Before 2014 there was no possibility of Ukraine joining as they had very good relations with Russia, to change that a regime change was done by the U.S. That created huge problems as the eastern part of the country wanted no part in being a vassal of the U.S.
A low level civil war broke for the next 8 years and the U.S. shipped 4 Billion dollars in weapons in Ukraine supporting the pro west side of Ukraine. Russia finally had enough, the last straw was the leader of Ukraine asking the U.S. to be a nuclear power again.
Russia has finally fallen into the trap set by the U.S. Ukraine was a disposable proxy to give Russia its Vietnam and cause it to weaken itself while getting the condemnation of the world.
Another plus was NS2 will never deliver gas to Europe and Germany and the U.S. can continue to sell its LNG at high prices costing Russia Billions a year in gas sales.
Shaw,
Like a cult, Trump's followers will praise Putin because Trump does. They can't help showing their authoritarian personalities.
As I said, they will blame Biden and democrats for what Putin is doing. They are convinced Putin wouldn't invade Ukraine if Trump won in 2020.
Why the hell wouldn't he? Putin is doing it now for the added bonus of bringing instability to the West and to stir more chaos and division in America. Putin knows this will benefit his loyal Republican followers, who will blame democrats instead of him.
CPAC is radicalized conservatism, nothing more. And it gets worse.
Then there’s this gathering of American fascists:
The America First Political Action Conference is an annual political conference that has been widely described as white nationalist and far-right. Many attendees are members of the "America First" movement and supporters of Nick Fuentes, also known as Groypers.
Ben Lorber reports:
The third AFPAC was held on February 25, 2022, in Orlando, Florida. Three current GOP elected officials-- Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar in Congress, and AZ State Senator Wendy Rogers-- have now embraced the leader of the contemporary white nationalist movement in the U.S.
Woody,
I don't think Putin's war has overriding support from the Russian people. They aren't afraid of Ukraine, nor should they be.
Putin thinks he has the right to control neighboring counties like the good old days of the Soviet bloc. If anything, Putin has justified NATO's purpose to thwart Soviet/Russian aggression.
Why shouldn't ANY country have the right to determine their own government and foreign policies?
I know how guilty the US is of this regime change madness. It still doesn't justify Putin's invasion.
Even given the US support in overthrowing the pro-Russian president, it is obvious Ukraine does NOT want to be under Putin's control. If they did, they would be welcoming his invasion.
We are not seeing that. What we might see is Putin demanding to annex the Donbas for withdrawing his invasion forces.
And let's not forget where this crisis really began. It wasn't caused by Biden or Obama, or even Trump. It was the first Bush Administration that made the unwise promise to restrict NATO expansion. That was the blunder that fixed the fuse to the bomb.
Note to the multiple Anonymous commenters.
Stop muddying the discussion. Put a name to your words. I'm not going to respond to, or publish, any more Anonymous comments
I repeat, reply with a name, or don't bother.
If you can't show this modicum of decency and respect for good faith discussion, we don't need your participation.
Nobody is banned here, but I have the right to accept or reject deflections, BS accusations, and name calling.
If you think I'm a liar or asshole, fair enough. Man up and SHOW your evidence.
I think Putin made a huge tactical error invading Ukraine, there is a lot of back slapping going on in the MIC right now. When Putin demanded more national security for Russia the U.S. and NATO laughed in his face and treated him like the head of a third would country.
The head of NATO said" Russia wants less NATO but they are getting more NATO" easy to say when he knows only Russian and Ukrainians will be dying.
He should have cut the gas to Europe and the oil to the U.S to get more leverage, we are still buying 10% of our oil needs from Russia!
I disagree with the expansion of NATO, Russia has proved itself to be nonaggressive since 91 and the three times it used its military it was in response to the U.S warmongering in Georgia, Crimea and Syria.
Somebody called me Anti- American but I am amazed at how the U.S. creates problems all over the world for no reason. Was it a national security issue that we had to get involved with Ukraine?
We are doing the same thing right now in Taiwan, advisers, weaponry sales and political interference.
How about Syria, is keeping their oil for ourselves the just and proper thing to do?
What about crushing the economies of Iran and Venezuela with sanctions, anybody want to defend that?
Anon people do not have the knowledge or courage to debate me on anything.
Woody,
We know why the US wants a friendly Ukraine. Corporate $$$
But they would prefer that to being Putin's subjects. No wonder the MAGAts have no sympathy for Ukrainians. They refused to help Trump beat Biden, so they can burn, as far as MAGAts care.
All Anon is doing is blaming Biden for Putin's actions, calling us commies, and whining about identifying himself.
As I said, like punks throwing turds over a fence.
They're not here to discuss anything. They just want to vent their same old resentments, anger, ignorance and hate.
Their cult demands that they hate and blame Biden and but not Trump's idol Putin.
Dave, I do not want to get into a vaccine debate but this article about vaccine passports is pretty scary.
https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2022/02/27/nick-corbishley-vaccine-passport.aspx?ui=3bb64f0b99eeb3c8bef290402359d1b29ff808dd3148f5b6fc10ba7a92d8f2af&sd=20110604&cid_source=dnl&cid_medium=email&cid_content=art1HL&cid=20220227&mid=DM1123407&rid=1419534848
Let me know if you feel this is a real concern or just conspiracy stuff.
Dave Dubya said...
Woody,
Although I wouldn't impose them, it seems only anti-vaxxers and Republicans are against vaccine passports.
If the vaccine prevented both infection and spread, I'd be 100% for it.
They'd have a case if they support "negative test" passports though.
BTW, our old pal Vern aka Just the Facts and Anonymous is the person who's been calling us commies.
He's in a snit because I've asked for ID. He's a coward, bigot and Trumpist authoritarian all the way. In other words, a "good Republican".
My next post will be about people like him, MTG, Gosar etc.
Dave Dubya said...
“The passports essentially function as a gateway to allow government to herd us into a totally new reality where our actions, our movements, our thoughts, our behavior are tracked and surveilled,” Corbishley says.
OK. But regular passports, ID for flights, credit card info, smart phones, etc. already do the same thing.
Bush's ramped up surveillance after 9-11 kicked all of this up by several degrees.
Big Brother has been here for a while now.
