Katy Tur Speaks To Evil

Trump made his intentions, and his authoritarian tactics, clear: "I do it to discredit and demean you all, (News media) so when you write negative stories about me no one will believe you."

Journalists who report his lies and the truth he denies, are accused of being the "enemy of the people". This is the lowest depth any president has ever sunk to in the history of the nation. It is down at the very bottom, along with supporting Putin's disinformation campaign by siding with him against two bi-partisan Senate committees, the Director of National Intelligence, the FBI and the CIA.

“What you’re seeing and what you’re reading is not what’s happening.”

This Orwellian "Ministry of Truth" tactic is at the heart of his war on facts, the press, and dissent.

Now Trump's fascistic attacks on the press and First Amendment are agitating his thug followers into a growing menace.

Angry mobs shout their anger, hatred and insults at newsmen covering his rallies, as he raves from the podium that they are "horrible, horrendous people."

There is only one fitting word for all this hate, blame and false accusation from a would-be tyrant. That word is evil.

Spreading hate is evil. He is an evil man. End of discussion.

MSNBC anchor Katy Tur recently spoke out for journalism and human decency.

Yeah, we get it, you don’t like us. Fine. But do you have to put our lives in danger?

The president continues to call the press the enemy of the people, even after four journalists and one sales assistant were shot dead in a Maryland newsroom by a man who was angry with what they factually reported about him.

Even after the publisher of The New York Times stressed to him in a private conversation that his words were putting journalists in mortal danger. Even after CNN white house reporter Jim Acosta was shouted down and taunted in a rally the other night in Florida.

Sadly, the harassment and threats are not stopping, What you do not see are the nasty letters or packages or emails, the threats of physical violence. ‘I hope you get raped and killed,’ one person wrote to me just this week.

“Raped and killed". Not just me, but a couple of my female colleagues, as well.

In case you want to argue this has nothing to do with the president, the most recent note I got ended with MAGA.

It is both surreal and ominous that this even needs to be said in this country.

Our free press is not the enemy of the people.

Trump and the Party of Trump are the enemy of the people, the enemy of democracy, and the enemy of truth.

God bless Katy. And God damn Trump, for his vile evil against her, and against her peers, and against human decency, against the truth, and against our country.

Donald Trump is pure evil. Those who support him are followers of evil; they're the purveyors of his evil and untruths. Evil sickness like this only begets more evil sickness -- the sickness that's borne of ignorance, of stupidity, of lies and alternative realities.

Yes, our Civil War -- 2.0 -- sits on the horizon, complements of Donald Trump.

The opposite of Abraham Lincoln's sworn duty to bring unification to a split nation in tumoil, Donald Trump divides and separates.

Abraham Lincoln sought what's best for a ravaged union. Donald Trump seeks what's best for oligarchs and himself. He divides.

Donald Trump is "the Divider".

I could post historical facts about leftist threats and attacks towards Fox news and their reporters. I could post examples of other President's attacks on the media. I could bring up the left wing Bernie Sanders follower attempting to murder Republican members of the House. I could bring up the physical assaults on GOP Senators by liberal Democrats. I could ask if George Soros is an oligarch. But I won't.

Because JG will demand sources and then when provided, will ignore them, and DD will claim the facts are Trump lies, or a conservative racist plot. So why bother posting the truth here. There is little room for it on this blog.

Majormajor,

Every decent liberal will condemn the violence and threats you wish to invoke.

You could post all the false equivalence, deflection, distraction, and whataboutism you have. None of it excuses Trump's unprecedented hate, lies, and evil.

You COULD say any damn thing you want, or more accurately any damn thing the Party of Trump would say. You're able to regurgitate any lie and propaganda point from the far Right. You are able to distort, demean, distract and deflect endlessly. It is all you are able to say.

What you are UNABLE to say is most telling.

You are unable to admit Trump is a hateful liar. You are unable to admit Trump is wrong. You are unable to admit Trump's war on the press and the truth is evil and un-American. You are unable to admit Trump's evil and cowardly siding against two bi-partisan Senate committees, the Director of National Intelligence, the FBI and the CIA was a gift to Putin.

Why?

Because none are more loyal to that hate, to that dishonesty, to that treachery, and to that evil than you are.

You own that evil. It is as part of you, as you are part of it.

This isn't about whether there have been instances of leftist threats, or displeasure of the media voiced by past presidents, or if there have even been instances of physical acts against Republicans. It's about the level of it, and the intensity. To equate what is going on today to what the left has done...the AMOUNT of lies, violence, deceit, and fraud, and even play the victim card, is downright irresponsible, and fraudulent. Dave is right, almost all liberals do condemn these acts. The right does just the opposite as a whole.

What is happening now is what the core of the Republican party has been about forever. These tactics are the only way they can keep power. With Fox and and Limbaugh as their mouthpieces, they convince enough average Joe's to support their CRAP, and get them angry at the wrong people...aka liberals, minorities, poor people, the government, etc.

I'm embarrassed to say I remember a time in 2000, when I was one of the angry ones, yelling over people because I was convinced by our local right wing talk show clown that the left was trying to steal the presidential election from Bush...wow. Oh well, that was then.

Majormajor said...

"Every decent liberal will condemn the violence and threats" I guess you not a decent liberal since you have not condemned any specific violence committed by the left.

Your answer does not surprise me as it is your typical deflection. You DD, are a willing useful fool of the left by omission if not commission. Show me your post condemning any violence committed by the left. Show me were you have condemned the left attacking the press..crickets.

Your claim of "whataboutism" is your way to avoid dealing with the violence and treason of today's left. Either you know better or you are dumb as a rock and aren't aware of the true story. You pick which one.

I'm going to use your "approved" answers in the future, "I'm opposed to all violence, I'm opposed to all racism, I'm opposed to all lying, I'm opposed to all foreign interference in any political party or any election, including those local elections which allow non citizens to vote."

JG,
The civil war is over. They won. Democracy is defeated. Consent of the governed is finished. Sure, it's possible a miraculous voter turnout for the next six elections or so can reverse that victory, but it would be just that; a miracle. Bill Clinton, our best Republican president, sealed the deal with his blatant corporatism, neoliberalism, and pandering to wealth. He made the Democrats a Republican Lite Party to the detriment of our democracy. Obama shares the same guilt, but to a lesser degree. He was a charismatic candidate but a poor leader, unable to grasp the hate and venom against him and duped into believing they would compromise. His capitulation on the Supreme Court was his last worst failure.

Ex Con,
You experienced the diseased ideology of the CRAP from the inside, and later from our perspective from the outside. Majormajor will NEVER begin to understand you now, but you totally understand him.

New Russian (drink) campaign to trick Democrats in 2018 elections

There is evidence that the Russians (drink) are already trying to interfere with the 2018 elections. The National Intelligence Agency has found evidence that the Russians (drink) have begun a massive campaign of subversive billboard advertising to undermine the Democratic Party in the 2018 elections.

Billboards across the country funded by covert untraceable contributors are advertising that the GOP (Republican Party) is the political party of communism.

"This is very confusing to our voters, many of whom will now vote for the GOP rather than for us," said one concerned Democratic Party officer. "We are certain that as a consequence of this Russian (drink) influence operation, our base will switch parties and vote Republican in the mistaken belief that the GOP supports Soviet-style totalitarian socialism."

"As a result of this election fraud, many of our supporters who usually vote for the destruction of America, will instead be tricked into voting for a strong America. We cannot allow this to happen," a Democratic intelligence source told CNN.

The Democratic Party has called for a formal investigation into these new dirty tricks aimed to undermine our democracy."

Chuck, you're barkin' up the wrong tree. Why do you think I'd believe or trust any so-called Christian pastors -- black, white or otherwise?

It's been my experience that evangelical Christians, especially "men of the cloth", will say or do anything to obtain funding to line their pockets. I'm sure Trump made sure it was worth their time and trouble.

As you might guess, I think most are fake Christians -- not unlike you.

Chuck, and I'll use a phrase you used, where does it say I'm obligated to believe a con-job just because I tell you something you claim is unbelievable and I ask you to cite your sources?

Requesting source citation doesn't equate to, "Yes, I'll believe you, or what happened, if you reference where you found the information."

Whatever gave you the impression that it did?

It merely means the person, me in this case, found your claim unbelievable (which I told you I did, and I still do) and wanted you to substantiate your remarks.

You did, and I thank you for it, but it doesn't provide the reliance of proof that what those pastors said was what they felt in their hearts. To me, it was just another campaign stop for Trump where the actors were paid to play the parts.

Jonathan Chait noted about just yesterday:

The entire Trump era has been a festering pit of barely disguised ongoing corruption. But the whole sordid era has not had a 24-hour period quite like the orgy of criminality which we have just experienced. The events of the last day alone include:

1) The trial of Paul Manafort, which has featured the accusation that President Trump’s campaign manager had embezzled funds, failed to report income, and falsified documents. His partner and fellow Trump campaign aide, Rick Gates, confessed to participating in all these crimes, as well as to stealing from Manafort.

(2) Yesterday, Forbes reported that Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross may have stolen $120 million from his partners and customers. Meanwhile Ross has maintained foreign holdings in his investment portfolio that present a major conflict of interest with his public office. (The “Don’t worry, Wilbur Ross would never do anything unethical just to pad his bottom line” defense is likely to be, uh, unconvincing to the many people filing suit against Ross for allegedly doing exactly that.)

(3) Also yesterday, ProPublica reported that the Department of Veterans Affairs is being effectively run by three Trump cronies, none of whom have any official government title or public accountability. The three, reports the story, have “used their influence in ways that could benefit their private interests.”

(4) And then, this morning, Representative Chris Collins was arrested for insider trading. Collins had been known to openly boast about making millions of dollars for his colleagues with his insider knowledge. He is charged with learning of an adverse FDA trial, and immediately calling his son — from the White House! — urging him to sell his holdings.

So much for being a Puppet of Putin.

"All that “collusion” really hasn’t paid off for Russia, which has once again been slapped with more sanctions by the Trump administration, this time for trying to poison a former spy and his daughter. If Russia doesn’t satisfy certain demands over the next few months, even more crippling sanctions will go into effect.

The Trump administration has imposed the sanctions in response to the March 2018 poisoning of a former Russian spy and his daughter in the U.K. that the administration blames on the Russian government. On Wednesday, the State Department told Congress that an initial tranche of sanctions will be imposed under a 1991 chemical and biological weapons act.

"Following the use of a 'Novichok' nerve agent in an attempt to assassinate UK citizen Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia Skripal, the United States, on August 6, 2018, determined under the Chemical and Biological Weapons Control and Warfare Elimination Act of 1991 (CBW Act) that the Government of the Russian Federation has used chemical or biological weapons in violation of international law or has used lethal chemical or biological weapons against its own nationals," a State Department spokesperson said in a statement Wednesday. "Following a 15-day Congressional notification period, these sanctions will take effect upon publication of a notice in the Federal Register, expected on or around August 22, 2018."

A second, even more financially damaging round of sanctions will be imposed in 90 days if Russia fails to take certain steps. CNN reports (formatting adjusted):

The first set of sanctions targets certain items the US exports to Russia that could have military uses -- so-called dual use technologies. These are sensitive goods that normally would go through a case-by-case review before they are exported. With these sanctions, the exports will be presumptively denied. A senior State Department official said there would be carve-outs however.

The US would then require Russia to assure over the next 90 days that it is no longer using chemical or biological weapons and will not do so in the future. Additionally, the criteria in the law call for Russia to allow on-site inspectors to ensure compliance. The official said that if Russia did not meet the demands, the US "will have to consider whether to impose a second tranche of sanctions as specified by the statute."

The left will demand source or claim fake news.

Is CNN good enough for you lefties?

TB3, Chuck's an afraid American, like all alt-right Trumpists. They're afraid of immigrants, afraid of diversity, afraid of people of color, and afraid of, really, their shadows.

Demogagues like Hitler and Trump were very perceptive and aware of these fears. They played them to their advantage. The gathered and garnered power through this fear. They knew whuch buttons to push, and they pushed them to benefit their own selfish greedy egos.

The imbecilic nature of the low-information and uneducated voter, makes them perfect fodder for classic totalitarian despots. They're the enemy of, and ultimately the reason for the destruction of democracy.

I believe Chuck would rather live under a totalitarian regime, like Russia, than be called a free and democracy-loving Democrat in the United States of America. That's very obvious.

Because in the naturalization process there are exceptions to the requirement to read, write, and speak English.

Trump will continue to subvert the FBI at every opportunity. His loyalty is toward those he's intimately connected to, certainly not the Constitution of the United States.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

Trump's had several underworld figures including those of the Russian Mafiya (spelled correctly, by the way) launder money by way of purchases at his Trump Towers, and through his former and bankrupt Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City.

Fully one-third of Trump Tower purchases were held in the names of foreign corporations, many of them in tax havens. It's said Trump rolled out the welcome mat for such buyers. Several buyers were notorious criminals involved in embezzling and money laundering -- one being David Bogatin. He, alone, bought five properties.

The list goes on. Study and learn. Your president has Mafia and Mafiya connections that run deep.

My theory is that Robert Mueller was selected to head this current probe for two reasons: (1) His experience, when FBI director, in investigating and pursuing Russian Mob activity (especially the godfather of godfathers, Semion Mogilevich); and (2) laser-pointing the investigation so as not to compromise current investigations of high-ranking Mafiya figures and/or expose those cooperating with law enforcement.

Trump's intimately involved with, and used to financing through, laundered Mafiya millions. The Mafiya is taken with Trump, also. His properties have lent legitimacy to their criminal and tax-free gains.

It's a symbiotic relationship. Now, as president, Trump offers even more to his friends.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

The Making of a Mafia State, from Russia to America

Felix Sater of Bayrock had a childhood friend, Michael Cohen, who later became Trump’s personal attorney. In 2015, the release of leaked emails revealed conversations between Sater and Cohen that hinted at a political agenda. Sater wrote in an email to Cohen, “I will get all of [Vladimir] Putin’s [sic] team to buy in on this, I will manage this process … I will get Putin on this program and we will get Donald elected.” Perhaps Sater and Cohen saw something beyond financial schemes in their relationships with Trump—they were entering what looked more like the oligarchical territory of Russia. These statements were made by Sater to Cohen in 2015, at a time when election-talk and campaign planning was in full swing. Whether their statements turned out to be true or not, the fact that they were discussed in a circle so close to Trump is disconcerting.
~~ Harvard Political Review, A Tale of Two Russias, December 23, 2017

The Trump organization's connections with Russian organized crime is indisputable. Just how much, and to what degree of criminality, remains to be seen.

MM's upset that CNN didn't get confirmation of the terrorist incident in London before officials in London confirmed it.

What they really reported: In addition to declaring the incident a "terrorist attack" before officials in London, Trump said the perpetrators are "animals."

Speaking of Don and Con and fellow gangsters:

David Von Drehle reported in The Washington Post:
===

Trump’s trail was blazed through one business after another notorious for corruption by organized crime.

New York construction, for starters. In 1988, Vincent “the Fish” Cafaro of the Genovese crime family testified before a U.S. Senate committee concerning the Mafia’s control of building projects in New York. Construction unions and concrete contractors were deeply dirty, Cafaro confirmed, and four of the city’s five crime families worked cooperatively to keep it that way.

This would not have been news to Trump, whose early political mentor and personal lawyer was Roy Cohn, consigliere to such dons as Fat Tony Salerno and Carmine Galante. After Cohn guided the brash young developer through the gutters of city politics to win permits for Trump Plaza and Trump Tower, it happened that Trump elected to build primarily with concrete rather than steel. He bought the mud at inflated prices from S&A Concrete, co-owned by Cohn’s client Salerno and Paul Castellano, boss of the Gambino family.

Coincidence? Fuhgeddaboudit.

Trump moved next into the New Jersey casino business, which was every bit as clean as it sounds. State officials merely shrugged when Trump bought a piece of land from associates of Philadelphia mob boss “Little Nicky” Scarfo for roughly $500,000 more than it was worth. However, this and other ties persuaded police in Australia to block Trump’s bid to build a casino in Sydney in 1987, citing Trump’s “Mafia connections.”

His gambling interests led him into the world of boxing promotion, where Trump became chums with fight impresario Don King, a former Cleveland numbers runner. (Trump once told me that he owes his remarkable coiffure to King, who advised the future president, from personal experience, that outlandish hair is great PR.) King hasn’t been convicted since the 1960s, when he did time for stomping a man to death. But investigators at the FBI and U.S. Senate concluded that his Mafia ties ran from Cleveland to New York, Las Vegas to Atlantic City. Mobsters “were looking to launder illicit cash,” wrote one sleuth. “Boxing, of all the sports, was perhaps the most accommodating laundromat, what with its international subculture of unsavory characters who play by their own rules.”

But an even more accommodating laundromat came along: luxury real estate — yet another mob-adjacent field in which the Trump name has loomed large. Because buyers of high-end properties often hide their identities, it’s impossible to say how many Russian Mafia oligarchs own Trump-branded condos. Donald Trump Jr. gave a hint in 2008: “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets.”

For instance: In 2013, federal prosecutors indicted Russian mob boss Alimzhan Tokhtakhounov and 33 others on charges related to a gambling ring operating from two Trump Tower condos that allegedly laundered more than $100 million. A few months later, the same Mr. Tokhtakhounov, a fugitive from U.S. justice, was seen on the red carpet at Trump’s Miss Universe pageant in Moscow.

Obviously, not everyone in these industries is corrupt, and if Donald Trump spent four decades rubbing elbows with wiseguys and never got dirty, he has nothing to worry about from special counsel Robert S. Mueller III.

The very concept of objective truth is fading out of the world. Lies will pass into history.

In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

This is the world MM is helping to bring down upon us in his Party's war on democracy and truth.

Of course.

Also, "funny" as in you're on to me and I can't defend the indefensible.

Dave Dubya said...

Know what else is funny? The national debt jumped by a Half TRILLION dollars in the last 6 months.

Not a peep of protest from the Tea Party Republicans and Trump cult.

If Hillary was president, imagine their outrage. They'd be calling for "Second Amendment remedies" again.

More proof EVERYTHING is OK if you are Republican.

They never fail to show they are are hateful hypocrites.

Everything's "funny" when the Government Of Putin is in charge. Everything's fine. Deficits, debt...not to worry.

The tax cuts to the uber-rich will bring us all prosperity and real wealth. LOLOL

The imbeciles, though, spit blood when the dems are running the show and running up the tab. Yeah, Dave, they're all hypocrites.

"Funny", huh? ;-)

The mobster-in-chief says Bruce Ohr "is a disgrace" and is going to revoke his security clearance because of his wife's connections. [head shaking]

A "disgrace"?

Donald Trump should watch video of his Hitler-like rants from his campaign stops lately. He's as disgusting and disgraceful as it's humanly possibly to be.

What an embarrassment to our country. I hope the world doesn't think all Americans are like him, his deplorable base...or Chuck.

The joys of Bernie Sanders approved socialism continues to unfold.

Fleeing Venezuelans face suspicion and hostility as migration crisis worsens.

Ecuadorian border town struggling to cope with exodus driven by economic collapse and political turmoil in Venezuela.

When will the leftist and liberals who post here disavow this failed economic system.
When will the supporters of Bernie Sanders start a "go fund me "account for Venezuela, with their own money instead of someone else's money?

Oh, I forgot, it's Russia, Russia, Russia. Funny people these leftist, they blame capitalism for not having enough money to run their socialist programs.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

Excuse me, sir, but this is the line for revealing and bashing Donald Trump's evilness and pure stupidity.

The line for criticizing Venezuela's hyperinflation, and President Maduro's economic policies, forms at another blog.

Thank you for not cutting in line. Your cooperation is certainly appreciated.

(Bloomberg) -- Argentina plans to ask the International Criminal Court to investigate Venezuela’s government for crimes against humanity.

Socialism, so rotten you can take it to court.

Oh I forgot the authoritarians don't allow freedom of speech here.

Truly, an anti-democratic party and one that rejects the truth.

Even Rudy Giuliani admitted this.

Do you know what else he admitted? He finally revealed that Donald Trump knew about, and authorized and approved, the hush-money payment to Stephanie Clifford (aka, "Stormy Daniels") to keep her quiet about Trump's affair with her.

Trump knew about and approved it!

I wonder what else Trump has been lying to us about? LOLOL

Do you see this, evil President Trump dispatches a U.S. Navy hospital ship to the Colombian coast to help treat Venezuelan refugees that have overwhelmed the Colombian medical system — the first U.S. military foray into the Venezuela crisis.

Why don't socialist countries send aid to their brother in socialism? They don't have the money needed that capitalism creates.

Why don't socialist countries send aid to their brother in socialism?

Yeah, why can't they be like Trump capitalists in American Puerto Rico and toss them some paper towels?

Jefferson's Guardian said...

Please, sir, if you persist in line-cutting with stories of Venezuela and Columbia, I'm afraid you'll leave me no choice but to call Security and have you escorted to another blog.

Do you not have any sense of proper decorum and civility?

"...and toss them some paper towels?" ~~ Dave Dubya

So metaphorically true! Racist Trump literally ignored the plight of the Puerto Rican people.

So evil, and so typical.
