"Make Russia Great Again"

There is no shame, no honesty and no decency left in the Republican Party. Failure to understand this fact is, and has been, America’s fatal flaw.

Here’s the latest Republican hypocrisy reported by NBC News:

Mike Pence chastised President Obama on Friday for indirectly referring to Donald Trump as a demagogue, saying — perhaps ironically — that "name calling" has no "place in public life.

…Pence's remarks backed up against his own running mate's use of derogative nicknames over the last year on the campaign, including: "Little Michael Bloomberg", "Crooked Hillary" [Clinton], "Corrupt [Tim] Kaine", "Liddle Marco [Rubio]", "Lyin' Ted" [Cruz], "Crazy Bernie" [Sanders], "Goofy" [Elizabeth Warren] and "Low Energy Jeb" [Bush].

Well whadayaknow? As proven again and again, name calling, IOKIYAR.

That was great hypocrisy, but con-servative theocrat Pence still takes a back seat to what Dear Leader Trump said.  (Trump is North Korea’s favorite after all. And according to Trump, Putin’s pick.)

To help him take power, Trump openly hoped Russia would hack into our country and his political opponent. Sounds like treason, or at least inciting espionage and criminal conduct.

LOCK HIM UP!! LOCK HIM UP!!

Donald puts himself above the law and our country. He has the bigoted, arrogant and dishonest characteristics of an authoritarian dictator.

Benedict Donald actually said:

“Russia, if you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,000 e-mails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

How's THAT for "presidential"? But wait, there's more.

"I've always felt fine about Putin. He's a strong leader. He's a powerful leader." High praise for a thuggish strongman from another. He also respected Saddam for the same reasons.

In the November 10 GOP debate, Trump said: “I got to know him very well because we were both on ‘60 Minutes,’ we were stablemates, and we did very well that night.”

And now:

“I never met Putin. I don’t know who Putin is,” Trump said at a Florida news conference.
Really?

Look no further for a perfect example of Orwellian "double-think", holding two contradictory statements as truth. "Ignorance is strength", comrades.

The  horror is so many low-information, ignorant, stupid, and pathetic American racists and rubes believe that man, no matter what he says.

Fellow billionaire Mike Bloomberg accurately noted, "I know a con when I see one".

Even the Koch brothers refuse to back this reckless ignoramus and sociopath.

We know Paul Manafort, NATO-defying Donald Trump’s top adviser, has close ties to pro-Russian politicians in Ukraine.

"It was a weird thing for the people in Ukraine, because they could not imagine how an American strategist agreed to cooperate with Putin’s friend. It was confusing. But Manafort played a decisive role in the victory of Yanukovych," said Ukrainian political expert Oleg Kravchenko.

The Guardian reports:

Discussing a possible Moscow hotel project with real estate website therealdeal.com in 2013, Trump boasted: “The Russian market is attracted to me. I have a great relationship with many Russians, and almost all of the oligarchs were in the room”.

On another occasion he declared: “Moscow right now in the world is a very, very important place. We wanted Moscow all the way.”

In 2008, Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr, told a New York Russian real estate investors conference that a “lot of money [is] pouring in from Russia”. “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets,” he added.

There you go folks. The choice is clear. Vote Republican.

Comrade Benedict Donald will “Make Russia Great Again”.

Dave, in actuality there's no shame, no honesty, and no decency left in either major party. I know you agree, they're both deceitful and corrupt to the core.

As you could probably tell from my running "feud" with Tom Degan (his latest post), I'm voting for the Greens this year (which, in reality, I've done for several past elections).

Good post!

JG,
Thanks, and I do agree with you.

At least some of the con-servative Republican's more blatant racist voter suppression laws are getting reversed. However low the Democrats sink, Republicans always go lower.

How's that for comfort? ;-)

While it's been sickening to see how low the Republican party stoops to agitate their base into supporting their elite masters, the feeling is worse watching the Not-So-Democratic Party abandon unions, the poor, and the middle class in order to suckle on the same neo-liberal teat as the Republicans.

The Not-So-Democratic Party has moved far to the right of Eisenhower, who at least understood the need for the safety nets that corp-dems like Obama have offered in a not-so "grand bargain" sacrifice to the GOP.

Corpo-dems have gone the extra mile to help shred our constitutional general welfare in return for their neo-liberal masters' "free speech" cash.

Then there's that limitless servitude to neo-con militarism and endless war...

Yeah, we may as well sit back and enjoy watching the unprecedented bi-partisan engineered train wreck of a former democratic republic.

THAT is the only "change" our political and economic rulers will bring for Americans.

But in the process, the wealthy will continue to suck up as much profit as possible. And that is all that matters to the elites; their real "American Values" are plain to see.

Our operating national motto has been "In Greed we trust" since Reagan.

I'm wondering if you're right -- all there is to do, now, is sit back and watch the show. Reality TV has blossomed beyond its producers' wildest imaginations. If it weren't so comical, I'd be crying.

I'm also wondering whether it's the biggest masquerade, not to mention con-job, in the history of civilization. Trump really can't be as insanely stupid as he's been acting -- especially in the last few days. Can he? The whole thing seemed improbable and unlikely from the start, even given the horrid conditions in the country, but now the "acting" has taken an even stranger twist. Have we been had? Is this whole election nothing but a charade of the highest magnitude?...akin to a bet placed as in Trading Places?

Either way, the joke's on us.

The greatest con jobs continue despite the swirling dishonesty, vanity and futility of American elections.

It appears quite often as if Trump is part of an incredible conspiracy to get Hillary elected. The only thing crazier than that is reality. I don’t think this is unfolding according to anyone’s plan, not even Trump’s. He knows he’s over his head, and he’s looking more like he’s throwing the election every day. Again, the only thing crazier than that is reality. Trump’s ego is as boundless as his insight is vacant.

When even the Kochs refuse to support him, we can be sure the elites are worried about Trump. As we all should be.

The elites and their two parties are not blameless though. They built this. They are the ones responsible for the buying and selling out of our government, and the destruction of democracy. They have long poisoned the political process with their toxic mix of free speech money, corruption, corporate/banking unaccountability, propaganda, and corporate media complacency and subservience.

It really has come down to bread and circuses. And climate change might just transform the bread and circuses into unprecedented instability, and war for water and food, sooner than imagined.

So we watch the worst of humankind leave our species a legacy of greed, cruelty, waste, destruction, war and endless other greater and lesser acts of indifferent brutality to life on earth.

As all these petty self-important hominids scurry about blissfully oblivious to their insignificance within a vast cosmos, we shall watch Nature reassert her rule over all of them with a vengeance.

Not much comfort there, but still a sense of justice, I suppose.

Is it just me, or do you feel a major "unraveling" coming about before election day?...something on par with, or probably more devastating than, September 2008?

September seems to be the target-month for disastrous deeds and malice during this country's millennium. You know, the kids are back in school and the lazy days of summer are but a memory -- a great time for raising Cain and mayhem by our overlords.

JG,

It's been happening.

I think the "Great Unraveling" started with the political/military debacle caused by Bush invading Afghanistan and Iraq. The 2008 financial collapse and Great Bush Recession started the economic unraveling. Then Egypt, Syria, Libya, Turkey, Yemen, etc. became the next dominoes in the chain of political unraveling.

Brexit and European unraveling is the next phase.

Once China and Russia join the "party", the world will be on its way to a New World Disorder. I think they anticipate it, so they could be the ones left to wield power within the new chaos. American desire for dominance will be contested, and will be limited to the areas of the Western Hemisphere.

Hail, "Oceania"! East Asia and Eurasia may be the other Orwellian predictions to come true.

Add the destabilizing effects of climate change and we have drought, famine, and multiple wars for water and land. This too is already happening.

The military, political, economic and climate conditions are converging before our eyes.

Nothing would unleash the final global unraveling faster than a Trump presidency. Hillary might slow it somewhat, depending on the extent of her neo-con impulses, of course.

But, hey, I'm old, and will probably miss the worst of it, so I can be optimistic. ;-)

At least I can say I had a good life. Sorry kids.

Humanity's self destruction is programmed into the quarter of the population that are authoritarian personalities. As they seize the levers of military, corporate and economic power, I can't see our species reaching the next vital step of evolution necessary for civilized survival.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

Dave, please don't misunderstand what I asked. Certainly the ongoing unraveling**, as you've very poignantly outlined, has been ongoing and without end. I was thinking more in terms of a very "dramatic event", real or otherwise, that is designed to send a shock through the totality of the American psyche.

**Not to be confused with the term used to describe the nature and characteristics of a "third turning", as used in Strauss & Howe's provocative work, The Fourth Turning: An American Prophecy - What the Cycles of History Tell Us About America's Next Rendezvous with Destiny.

I rambled on with the big picture and forgot to note the looming events that could be on the horizon. Not only do we have the "September Factor" but also the "October Surprise" element around the corner.

Any flare up anywhere in the world has the potential for escalation. Another 9-11 type event could put Trump in office. Ripple effects of Brexit could easily rock the leaking boat to disaster.

It's hard to not be a tad uneasy in these insane times.

At any rate, I think it still goes back to our inability to evolve past the authoritarian nature of a quarter of our species.

It's not the so much sci-fi's "Monster from the Id", but the primitive center of fear, hate and aggression from the amygdala.

This is what we allow to perpetuate our endless cycle of war, inequality and environmental destruction.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

Ah, yes, the "September Factor" along with the "October Surprise" -- a dynamic duo if ever there was one. A true partnership made in hell.

I've been thinking all along it would be Clinton in a landslide. To offset her rigging and fixing, I'd say it's going to take both months.

Let's wait and see.
