FOX(R) Misinformation

Let's offer our bleeding heartfelt thanks to Media Matters for their month by month round-up of the FOX(R)'s fairly unbalanced and ever-so-dishonest propaganda last year.

Off The Rails: The Year In Fox News Misinformation

This ya gotta see...and share.

I'm reminded of the punch line of an old joke: "You've got to marvel at the completeness of it."

Really, though, the worker bees at Fox are just doing what they were hired for and are paid to do. It might be more interesting to see a rundown of the opportunities they missed to lie, distort, smear, fearmonger and carry water for various Republican wing nuts. Who knows, that list might cost one or more of their well-paid morons their job.

SW,
Their limited imaginations can only make up so much. Repetition is the priority.

I thought you might like this article Dave.

5. All the columnists and pundits say that now he can work with John Boehner. But once you take a broader view, it is the difference in the mph of corporatism. McCain is 50 miles per hour and Obama is 40 miles per hour.

Wease,
Thanks. This article cuts to the essence.

"The left has nowhere to go," Nader said. "Obama knows it. The corporate Democrats know it. "The so-called liberal media, along with Fox, is touting the tea party and publicizing Palin," Nader said. "Three thousand people rallied to protest the invasion and massacre in Gaza two years ago," Nader said. "It was held four blocks from The Washington Post. It did not get a single paragraph. People should march over to the Post and say ‘Fuck you! What are you doing here? You cover every little blip by the right-wing and you don't cover us?'

"They are afraid of the right-wing because the right-wing bellows, and they have become right-wing," Nader said of the commercial press. "They have become fascinated by the bias of Fox. And they publicize what Fox is biased on.

"Corporate power makes demands all the time," Nader went on. "It pulls on the Democrats and the Republicans in one direction
“The number of anti-war Op-Eds in The Washington Post over nine months in 2009 was 6-to-1 pro-war.”

“But once you take a broader view, it is the difference in the mph of corporatism. McCain is 50 miles per hour and Obama is 40 miles per hour.”

This supports what we have been saying.

Because of our two corporatist parties and vast corporate media the US Government is now a right wing engine of empire and corporate profiteering.

Corporate neo-feudalism is the inevitable destination. Americans will vote for the corrupt fascists who will reduce them to serfdom under the economic royalists. It will become rule by divine right of wealth, instead of divine right of kings. Same result.

Wow. Quite the article. I would expect nothing less from such an unblemished source as Media Matters.

Never mind that nearly every bias they mention are opinions stated not by Fox journalists but rather political pundits or editorial commentators such as Hannity, Dick Morris, or Beck.

If I wished to take the time, I could easily come up with a comparable and even greater list of "transgressions" from PMS-NBC.

It is funny how the "objective" network media shows bias against conservatives and this is not only NOT noticed but is actually disputed by the left.

Why do you think FOX News came into being? I would submit to you it is because people were sick and tired of only getting slanted reporting that was portrayed as objective.

Are O'Reilly and Hannity conservative? Damn straight, but they also tell you so and don't pretend to be objective journalists.

One suspects that the left thinks Maddow and Olbmerann really are objective.

Needless to say, the article was quite amusing, sir.

TP,
Only in your imagination and in the Rightist propaganda is the corporate media as guilty of being pro-Democratic Party, let along progressive, as FOX (R) is pro-Republican. Even the term “liberal media” is a contrivance of the Right. Look at all the active Republican politicians on their payroll. No equivalence at all. The point is, people take those opinions, and outright falsehoods, as truth, “Death panels” may be opinion, but it is presented as fact and folks believe that crap.

You allege bias against conservatives, but offer no evidence. The fact is, corporate media is corporate, not liberal, and thus tend to support the corporatist status quo. FOX(R) came into being because Big Money interests wanted it so. It has nothing to do with people “sick and tired of only getting slanted reporting”. Do you really believe FOX (R) is above “slanted reporting”?

As we’ve discussed before there is also no comparison if we fact check Olbermann/Maddow, who make no pretensions of being neutral, against Limbaugh/Beck. Hannity and Beck spout their hatred with a FOX "News" logo on the screen. You don't see the word "news" on the picture with Olbermann and Maddow.

Again in our system, money is both free speech and political influence. And who has the most money? Hint: It’s not liberals or even unions.

Dave, even when we slam the Democrats and the Republicans at the same time, we're still accused of attacking the right unfairly.

At least T. Paine didn't come back and ask why we never say anything bad about Obama, in response to that article.

Sorry T. Paine, I've watched 'news' programs on Fox, the bias is obvious to people who don't worship in the Republican or Tea Party faiths. Democrats and Republicans can eat all the shit sandwiches they want while exclaiming theirs doesn't stink, so please try a bite. I don't care, I can smell them from here.

The idea that FOX News is fair and balanced is just a load of horseshit. Telling me sweet lies, won't change my opinion. I can see and hear it for myself.

Thank God for Media Matters. No wonder the Far Right hates them so much.

I had a grandfather that thought he knew everything. He read the tabloids (National Enquirer, The Insider, etc.) as though they were reporting the news. Back then, there were thinking, educated people that understood the difference between silly crap and journalism.

But somewhere along the way, USA Today and FOX took their place (first along side of, then ultimately in front of) serious journalism.

I don't find it too surprising that the same crowd that advocates teaching ancient creation myths in science text books can't see the difference between FOX and journalism. FOX appeals to the crowd that isn't looking for answers because they think they already know them. They just want confirmation of their childish world view. If you surround a kid with candy and cakes, the idea that he should consume more vegetables is a pretty hard sell.

Dave Dubya said...

Wease,
That's the difference between the Right and Left. The left is generally critical of Dems as well as Republicans. Yes they are much more "fair and balanced" than the Right.

The Right can only side with the rich and powerful and must oppose everyone else's interests. Always.

Tom,
We know at least three reasons the Right hates Media Matters, and it has nothing to do with of falsehoods. It is because they expose the dishonesty of FOX(R) and talk radio. And David Brock used to one of their propagandists when he was, as his book title says, “Blinded by the Right”. The other major trigger for their anger and hatred is, of course, the Beck-anointed Jewish grand "puppet master", and “persecutor” of Jews, George Soros. It drives them to fury that a wealthy person would contribute money to someone exposing their deceit.

Rick,
Americans are indoctrinated by all corporate media to revere wealth and the wealthy. Right Wing media is nurturing an even more cult like belief system in which the Right constantly reinforces the false beliefs necessary to win over misinformed voters.

The media is liberal. Obama hates, and is destroying, America. Government is always the problem. Business is always the solution. Tax cuts for the rich create jobs. Liberals are godless anti-American Marxists with no family values. Taxes are bad. War is good. Cheney and Bush never lied. Rush and Beck are always honest and correct. “Conservatism” is a virtue. Liberalism is evil, ad nauseam.

I discussed this at length in my three-part post on the “Cult of Conservatism”.

They have journalists???? Who knew????

Dave Dubya said...

Kulkuri,
Of course FOX(R) has Right Wing "journalists". How else would the Shirley Sherrod smear video have been posted at FOX(R)"News" online?

They don't stop! Their ignorance knows no bounds and they are on the wrong side of every issue that comes to light.

Dave Dubya said...

Truth,
They get mad as hell, but it gives them another opportunity to lie by denying it all. A win/win.

Jim,
That's right. They never stop "catapulting the propaganda". They know if you repeat a lie enough it will be accepted as truth.

OFF POST; So why are we still putting up with the 5 sobs? Special Assistant to the Attorney General Wrisley Brown wrote in the June 1913 Harvard Law Review:
"The Impeachment of the Federal Judiciary."
To determine whether or not an act or a course of conduct is sufficient in law to support an impeachment, resort must be had to the eternal principles of right, applied to public propriety and civil morality. The offense must be prejudicial to the public interest and it must flow from a willful intent, or a reckless disregard of duty. ... It may constitute an intentional violation of positive law, or it may be an official dereliction of commission or omission, a serious breach of moral obligation, or other gross impropriety of personal conduct that, in its natural consequences, tends to bring an office into contempt and disrepute.

Dave Dubya said...

Anonymous,
Why do we put up with openly biased Justices? Good question. Why do we put up with war criminals, torturers, and the rest of them? Corruption and unaccountability have been institutionalized in our corporatist government. We've been going down the slippery slope to totalitarianism. The corporate military industrial complex has become our inhuman master. We the people are becoming "we the serfs" in subordination to the economic elite and the political apparatus they have bought through court sanctioned "money is free speech" bribery. Social programs and public projects will be dismantled in the crumbling empire. The military and law enforcement will be priorities as the Bill of Rights is eviscerated.

Working class Americans are targeted for austerity while the elite continue to get the trickle up benefits of tax breaks and corporatism.

Corporate media will tell us it’s time for “shared sacrifice”. That means us, not them.

My own Pete Sessions didn't have time to get sworn in before he started voting.

He was working a fundraiser on Federal Property in violation of Federal Law.

But it's ok, when this was brought up, they said it wasn't really a fundraiser, he was just soliciting funds from donors at a party designed for that purpose.

It's Words that matter in
Washington, not Deeds.

If you call it an 'Aggressive Withdrawal' instead of 'Aggravated Bank Robbery', then robbing banks becomes legal...

Yeah they had to apologize for not being there and they had to strike their votes as they were not there to swear in. I can't stand them mealy mouthed scum.
