My Confession

"Last night at the Convention - A packed house! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

I have a confession.

I voted for a Republican once.

It was for Gerald Ford.

I thought he was a decent guy and unlike Nixon, relatively honest. I had misgivings about Carter because a Southern Baptist in the White House didn't appeal to me. I suspected he would inject evangelicalism into our government.

Of course, he proved to be one of the most honest and decent presidents we ever had. He didn't impose his religion on us, but acted in accordance to his faith. We don't see that in today's Christian Nationalist MAGA crowd.

After Ford pardoned Nixon, that was the end of my voting for Republicans.

I didn't trust Ronnie "Aw Shucks" Reagan at all, and I was validated by his October Surprise deal with Iran for holding the hostages until after the election.

Iran/Contra told me they would stoop to any lie and betrayal of our country for power.

Since then, I have vehemently opposed the Republican Party. Union busting and tax cuts for the rich told me exactly where they wanted to take our country.

The "Reagan Revolution" resulted in the rebirth of the Confederacy and imposition of corporatocracy in disguise. The age of the Economic Royalists had returned.

I have no resentment for those who voted for Republicans in the last century, but I was disappointed and a bit perplexed when they voted to re-elect Bush after he lied us into war. I will blame FOX News more than them.

I even tolerated friends and family after they voted for Trump in 2016. Barely.

But after 2020 and 2024, they only drew my disrespect and revulsion for their obvious lack of critical thinking, vacuous values, indifference to truth, and tolerance of indecency, blatant lies, and criminal conduct.

I still welcome any remorse they show for supporting Trump and will forgive them if they finally wake up. Otherwise, I cannot forgive the racists, greedheads, dupes, and willfully ignorant true believers who support the most vile, corrupt, and criminal occupant to ever sit in the Oval Office. I cannot abide any ideology that so gleefully inflicts pain and suffering upon non-violent people they happen to hate.

As far as I'm concerned if anyone supports Trump's Big Lie, criminal election interference, and his pardons and rewards for his J6 thugs, they are the worst of us who deserve only scorn and contempt. These MAGA loyalists are the racist and bigoted authoritarian ilk that would have been loyal Nazis in 1930s Germany.

It's time for Americans to wake up and smell the fascism. I can only hope it's not already too late.

So this is your admission that you're NOT a critical thinker... because you discount and immediately reject all error feedback

I accept your admission

Stanislas Dehaene's four pillars of learning are attention, active engagement, error feedback, and consolidation, which together form the brain's core mechanism for acquiring and retaining new knowledge.

The Four Pillars Explained

Attention: Acts as the neural gatekeeper that focuses processing power on specific information while filtering out distractions. Error Feedback: Relies on prediction errors—discrepancies between what the brain expects and what actually happens—to rapidly correct and refine internal mental models.

Consolidation: Transfers information from temporary working memory into stable, long-term storage through repetition and sleep.

To apply this framework effectively in education or training, you must combine all four elements rather than relying on any single strategy. Build distraction-free environments for focus, replace passive reading with self-testing, welcome mistakes with immediate corrections, and use spaced repetition alongside good sleep hygiene to lock in memories

Hey Dave... I posted this on your other post, then this morning was thinking about it.

"I voted for GW Bush twice, Obama twice, did not vote in 2016 because both candidates sucked, Biden in 2020 and Harris in 2024."

I know this'll sound political, but...

I actually voted for Nader at least on the second go round because I believed then that we needed a third party and wanted him to get to that threshold. Probably the 2004 election. Seems to make sense to me. Kerry had no chance, especially after that wind surfing debacle in Oregon and Bush was still riding relatively high.

So Nader it was.

I was a Ford fan too, but just a bit too young to vote in 1976.

I did vote for GW Bush though in 1988. Most experienced president we've ever had. He was normie.

While my trajectory in arriving at essentially the same conclusions took longer (2006), I eventually arrived. I have vowed to NEVER again vote republican. Even if the individual is seen as a qualified candidate. I simply will NEVER trust the republican party ever again. IMV it's agenda and the NRC are evil.

Gee, thanks, -FJ.

It's to be expected, I suppose, that you would fail to present any information, refutation, or analysis of my piece. That would require critical thinking on your part.

Therefore I reject your unfounded assertion.

But I did vote for a Republican once, so it's true that I fell short on critical thinking. As I noted, everyone says or does something stupid at one time or another. Even you. Surprised?

So, what's YOUR excuse for supporting a pathological liar, admitted sex offender, and terminally corrupt serial criminal?

Hoping for Trump's illegal $5,000 bribe?

Dave Dubya said...

Yeah,
Kerry had the charisma and warmth of a wet blanket. It was still only a 1.4 percentage point margin for Junior. Also, Americans are quite adept at forgetting wars based on lies, war crimes, and criminal insurrectionists.

This is why we're where we are.

You mistake the autists consistency for truth. That's not a marker for thinking critically, once again.

I voted for Nader in 2000, Ford in 1976, and GHWB in 88. The only one I regret was GHWB.

I hated JF'nK. He was a JFK wannabe.

LOL! "There you go again".

Unfounded assertions and accusations are a MAGA/authoritarian personality specialty.

How about this for something to help your authoritarian mind form a rational case?

“Dave, I have to say you are less than rational, or stating falsehoods, by claiming (_____) and (_______). These verifiable facts and evidence (_____) and (____), along with my following rational application of such information,_______ suggest you are erroneous in reasoning or mistaken in your information.”

You're welcome.

BTW, you still haven't told us whether or not they stopped eating the dogs in Springfield or who really won the "rigged" 2020 election.

Is your error feedback loop dysfunctional?

ps - You have evidence that pets are no longer being eaten in Springfield? What's your evidence that Biden won in 2020? Pelosi's parliamentary coup?

Dave Dubya said...

By all known evidence and official statements NOBODY was "eating the dog in Springfield". Only serial LIARS made such a RACIST claim.

By all available evidence, Trump lost, lied, and criminally tried to steal the 2020 election.

By ALL counts, recounts, certifications, Trump’s DOJ, Trump’s Homeland Security, multiple audits and 61 courts:
Biden 51.3%
81,283,501 Popular votes
306 Electoral Votes
Trump 46.8%
74,223,975 Popular votes
232 Electoral Votes

No wonder -FJ is TERRIFIED to admit the truth. (He's too busy "thinking critically" to be bothered by facts and evidence.) ;-)

Deflection is his default, as it it is with every MAGA authoritarian personality.

"Look! Hunter Biden!!"
"And what about HILLARY??"

-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said...

You've heard news reports? THAT is all your evidence? You didn't witness ANYTHING yourself?

Dave Dubya said...

I heard the mayor of Springfield denying the racist lies from Trump and Vance.
Were THEY there to witness it?
No. There were no credible witnesses.
But your heroes spewed the racist lies anyway, didn't they?
No wonder you voted for them. They're your kind of guys.

“By all available evidence, Trump lost, lied, and criminally tried to steal the 2020 election.”

THATS TOTALLY BULLSHIT IT WAS STOLEN YRS, BUT BY BIDEN NOT TRUMP.

Dave Dubya said...

Anonymous,
If you want to tell us "Obama ruined this country", you damn well better show us FACTS that support your claim.

Your racist hate won't cut it.

Dave Dubya said...

Yes, Anonymous. We KNOW you HATE facts.

Why can't you explain how "Senile Joe" masterminded the theft? The best you can do is regurgitate your cult leader. "WAAAH! RIGGED! NOT FAIR!"

By all available evidence, Trump lost, lied, and criminally tried to steal the 2020 election.

By ALL counts, recounts, certifications, Trump’s DOJ, Trump’s Homeland Security, multiple audits and 61 courts:

Show us the evidence Trump got more votes, Anonymous. Otherwise, I refuse to post your cult lies.

Want to know what EVERY Trumpist dreads?

I WELCOME any information that would indicate I am mistaken, misinformed or flawed in my reasoning. Please set me straight. Here is a handy and simple format to make it easier for Trump’s true believers and supporters:

“Dave, I have to say you are less than rational, or stating falsehoods, by claiming (_____) and (_______). These verifiable facts and evidence (_____) and (____), along with my following rational application of such information,_______ suggest you are erroneous in reasoning or mistaken in your information.”

The a*s kissing reichwing MAGAts seem to be getting very nervous. They must sense America is fed up with the war mongering and lying malignant narcissist and his pet sycophants in congress.

Dave Dubya said...

Yeah, Les.
Like their Third Reich counterparts the most fanatic and extreme of them will hold out to the end. Bunker or otherwise.

That would be the new bunker under the Trump Ballroom?
