Along with the Criminal President’s Big Lie that the 2020 election was “stolen” from him is another popular Big Lie held as gospel in the radical right MAGA fringe cult: “America was founded as a Christian nation”.
Well, THAT would surely delight the Founders, wouldn’t it?
Or not.
“The civil government functions with complete success by the total separation of the Church from the State.” ~James Madison, 181
Article 11 of the 1796 Treaty of Tripoli, negotiated by President Washington, signed by President Adams, ratified by the US Senate, expressly refutes that the US is a Christian nation "The Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion"
But it’s not theocracy when we do it, right?
Right. And of course it’s not criminal, unjust, or cruel when the Criminal President Trump and Republicans do it, as well.
The DHS post was timed with last Sunday’s "Rededicate 250" rally billed as a “rededication of our country as One Nation under God.”
Director of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin is the perfect replacement for the evil Kristi Noem . Mullin’s Christian nationalist cred is substantial.
Turning his back on his Savior’s message of compassion for the sick, he demanded that the Affordable Care Act be delayed or defunded.
After the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal agents in Minneapolis, Mullin displayed his unchristian lack of compassion when he called murder victim Pretti a "deranged individual" in a Fox News interview.
He’s now in charge of the army of ICE thugs and the private concentration camps where cruelties against thousands of non-violent immigrants are hidden from the public. Turning his back on his Savior’s message of welcoming immigrants he’s the embodiment of the exact opposite of, “The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born”.
And speaking of racist white Christian nationalists, one of them was asked at last Sunday's Trump's "Rededicate 250" Christian nationalist rally to comment on this on FOX (R):
Christian Nationalist and supporter of the Criminal Pedophile Protecting President Mike Johnson responded: "They want to erase the history of America and pretend as if we’re not a nation that was dedicated originally to God… The people who are the naysayers and who have created this new term of 'Christian nationalism' as a pejorative, a derogatory term, are trying to silence the influence and the voices of Christians, and I think that's wildly inappropriate."
More radical Right lies and projection.
Mike Johnson has partners in the extremist antidemocratic New Apostolic Reformation that promotes their Seven Mountain Mandate, or Seven Mountains Dominionism. It holds that there are seven aspects of society that believers seek to dominate: family, religion, education, media, arts and entertainment, business, and government.
Their Dominionism advocates silencing the majority of Americans by Christian dominance over the United States.
Just what the Constitution and Bible tells them to do, amirite?
We get it. White Christian nationalists and evangelicals represent Trump’s deluded base of ignorant and/or racist sheep.
They don’t care if their vile Criminal President Trump is above the law and his Administration and cronies are unbound by our Constitution. They seek to enforce their criminal, corrupt, racist, and antidemocratic POWER over the rest of us.
Johnson defended his fellow bigot Phil Robertson the duck hunter after he told GQ that homosexuality was "just not logical" and a sin, saying Robertson was being "punished" for expressing his opinion.
Yes, another “persecuted” white Christian bigot. When will enough be enough?
In a 2003 article, Johnson warned: "Homosexuals do not meet the criteria for a suspect class under the equal protection clause because they are neither disadvantaged nor identified on the basis of immutable characteristics, as all are capable of changing their abnormal lifestyles." He wrote that legalizing same-sex marriage could put the country's "entire democratic system in jeopardy". In another article, he wrote, "experts project that homosexual marriage is the dark harbinger of chaos and sexual anarchy that could doom even the strongest republic.”
He is also morally outraged at transgender students using the wrong bathrooms because Jesus preached against it when he condemned homosexuality. Just kidding. That never happened. Gays and transgender Americans just make him feel icky.
In other words, a MAGA loyalist, hypocrite, and unrepented bigot.
Sunday he and his ilk decided to celebrate America as a “Christian nation”, the hallmark and calling card of Christian nationalists.
The same white Christian nationalist responded to another question at Sunday’s Trump/Christian Nationalist rally.
Shannon Bream FOX®: What is your message to Black voters about redistricting?
Mike Johnson: This brings back fairness and certainty to the system.
Nothing
dishonest or racist about that, I’m sure.
During Trump's "Rededicate 250" prayer event at the National Mall, the Rev. Franklin Graham, the son of the late preacher Billy Graham, spoke via a pre-recorded video at the prayer event, describing America as a country that has become "morally rotten" and "completely sick with sin." He mentioned issues like "transgenderism" and "opening women's locker rooms to men" as a couple of examples.
Or as in the fear-mongering bigotry of their Most Unchristian and morally rotten Leader, “Transgender for everyone”. Oh, dear! This sounds like a threat! Does that mean they're out to force us all to swap genders?
Graham said. "Why do we need to rededicate ourselves? When God sent the flood and destroyed the earth, it was because man's heart had become so evil and violent. In the news, we see unimaginable violence: rapes, murders, [and] unimaginable violence. Video games are full of violence. We have an insatiable appetite for violence."
Gee, that sounds a lot like the ICE thugs sent out by a guy who wants to pay his pardoned loyal thugs for beating cops bloody trying to overturn an election he clearly lost.
Graham
once suggested opposition to Trump was the work of a "demonic power”.
Last week during a radio interview with Eric Metaxas, evangelist Franklin Graham was about to say that he thought it was "almost a demonic power that is trying" to oppose President Trump, according to the Washington Examiner.
At that point, radio host Eric Metaxas interrupted, saying "I would disagree. It's not almost demonic. You know and I know, at the heart, it's a spiritual battle."
Graham agreed, and then, essentially, went on to say how unusual it is to see such opposition to a president with a record-breaking economy.
Anyway, you get the point. Christian nationalists are ignorant and or racist white conservatives who think America was founded as a “Christian nation” and are terrified of being “replaced” by atheists and people of color or other faiths.
Lest anyone be duped otherwise, there is no room for Christ in Christian nationalism.
My dialogue with one of their radio propagandists essentially confirms this.
Anyway you look at it, the most racist and bigoted, and least Christian Americans among us want to dominate our lives, government, and country.
And that means voter disenfranchisement, cruelty, and punishment for both the majority and the least of us.

In god We Trust was added to coins in 1864. It was not until 1957 that the "Christian" Nationalists were able to get it on the paper currency. That alone should tell folks something. Specifically that America was absolutely NOT founded as a Christian Nation.
Christianity is being used to create division among us by the Extremist Christian Nationalists in our now declining society. It is but a tool too other and attempt to shame everyone who does not believe as they do.
And now? They have full control of the rightwing fascist government under trump. Fascist governments across the western world have always supported "Christian" Nationalism and the evils it advocates.
Jesus, we're he here today, would be preaching against almost everything the rightwing Evangelical "Christin" Nationalists stand for.
Dave... the relevant texts here are the following...
In I Peter 2, we read that we are "aliens, pilgrims and sojourners in the land". Not rooted, but in a sense, nomads in this life, inhabiting a space, living as God's examples of sacrificial love for all people, among the people "who are disobedient". Living among people who do not demonstrate the sacrificial love of Jesus in their daily lives.
The in Philippians, we read following up on this, that our "citizenship" is in heaven, effectively, not tied to any country, people, place or faith apart from Jesus.
No serious Christian will deny these teachings. Sure, the nationalist will, but they've shown themselves to be more aligned with the people in Jesus' day who wanted a triumphal return of the Lord, so he'd kick butt against the Roman government and the Pharisees.
I can't see how anyone can translate a love of Jesus and his denial of earthly pleasures and happiness, his call to sacrifice, pray for and even love our enemies, into support for the nationalism.
Especially a nationalism that supports people who lie, encourage violence, refuse to repent, pledge to do better and encourages hate to people who are different.
Perhaps "Christian" Nationalists should consider this.
Their hypocrisy, and ignorance, ois beyond the pale.
Dave,
It's all the result of the blonde blue--eyed Jesus they have in their heads. No wonder they think he sent us Trump.
"Consider?" they'd ask in wonder. "What's that, some kind of CRT or DEI crap?"
DAVE YOU ARE A FILTHY DISGUSTING PIG FOR SAY WHAT YOU DID ABOVE.
And you can GO TO HELL Before I copy here again
Anonymous,
Yes. Thank you for showing us your blonde blue-eyed Jesus version of White Christian nationalism.
Have a blessed day.
Hahaha... Dave, I'm ROTFLMAO. Maybe the comment from anon, a troll to be sure, was meant for me. Maybe not... but it's pure comedy gold...
"And you can GO TO HELL Before I copy here again"
What does that even mean? Did he come here and copy something? Was he just confused and meant to say "pasted"? As in he goes to multiple blogs all day long and pastes the same cyber hieroglyphics everywhere?
When conservatives talk of limiting the vote, I'm thinking folks like this particular hombre... a guy who can't even write a cogent sentence, is the type of person they normally want to bar from voting.
For lack of a proper education.
Can any of you define what makes a Christian?
Is your hero Graham Platner?
Yes, a real Christian makes a sincere effort to follow Christ's example and to obey his commandment to love others. He would commit to feeding the poor, treating the sick, and welcoming the stranger. He doesn't want to ignore the fact Jesus commands us to pay our taxes. A real Christian refuses to take any of Trump's words as gospel.
A real Christian wouldn't pay lip service in declaring his faith, while hating others. scapegoating minorities, and supporting a Criminal President who smears the Pope, lies, steals, and gloats about his cruelty, wars, and punishment for anyone who criticizes him.
A real Christian would never pretend Jesus condemned pre-marital sex, abortion, birth control, homosexuality, drag queens, and immigrants seeking asylum.
Fake Christians act as if just saying, "I believe and accept Jesus" will be their license to sin and hate as much as they want, and will serve as their "Get out of Hell Free" card no matter how much they serve and reward Trump's lies and hate over Jesus.
Does this describe YOU, Anonymous? It would most certainly seem so.
WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, THAT WE SHOULD BE ANSWERING TO YOU?
Yes, sir! Only YOU can ask questions, amirite?
That's the problem with us uppity libs. We think we should be held to the same standards. You Trump suckers are far more special than the rest of us.
Thank you for putting me in my place, SIR! ;-)
Maybe meant for me?
Likely for anyone who doesn't share their Christian Nationalist cultish views.
This is so easy, it should not even be called piling on.
Check this out Dave. It's an article on the profanity of the Trump Admin, complete with some great graphics.
We should understand "profanity" as cussing, swear words, etc.
It seems the data shows an increasing amount of this in Trump's speeches. Or should I say to make it clear, what Trump himself is saying.
Why is this important and part of post's theme? Because of a simple admonition against this very type of language in the Book of James. Here's what it says in Chapter 3...
With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.
If the nationalist were truly Christian, they would be uncomfortable at and speak against the very type of language we're increasingly seeing from Trump himself. A man many celebrate as God's messenger, a Christ follower and more.
If his followers were truly Christ followers, they'd disassociate from Trump as they would for any other unrepentant sinner they encounter. Or at the very least, call out where that sinner falls short.
But many have done neither.
Based on the evidence, we can't say there is no such thing as a Christian Nationalist. But what we can say is that anyone supporting Trump and not publicly or outwardly calling him to do better or repent, should simply be called a Nationalist. Because they've chosen to not actually live life as a Christ follower.
That the Problem with YOU. KAMALA FUCKERS! I NEVER ASKED YOU A THONG , AND I NEVER WILL , BECAUSE I DON’T AND WONT TRUST YOUR LYING ANSWERS
Dave,
Trump can dispense with all decency in his second term, so he does.
Actually unchristian nationalists are white nationalists at heart. But since they embrace theocracy, it's understandable why "Christian nationalism" applies.
LOL!!!
Classic MAGA derangement, hate, and stupidity.
Dave, Dave, Les.. I'll try again, define what a Christian is?
A thong? Anon probably won't ask for one because he's probably got enough already. And he missed the point, right? We don't want him to ask questions, we want him to, you know, actually think and answer a few questions.
But for the comprehension challenged folk among us, that's apparently too scary, difficult or hard to do.
Obama needs to go retire like he was supposed to. He can’t stand it. He ran the country when Biden was president. Biden was the front man. Obama was running this country and he destroyed it another four years we had 12 years of Obama destroying this country he should be in jail is what he should be for treason. Go away Obama you’re not the president no more go screw your wife oh that’s right she’s a man guess she ain’t getting any there either anymore.
"Classic MAGA derangement, hate, and stupidity."
Maybe, but True.
Humm, I''m Not blonde, and I'm Not blue-eyed, and I''m certainly not a Jesus version of White Christian nationalism.. But I am an American and I do love my country, and I can't stand People like you who try to Destroy this Country. And I will FIGHT LIKE HELL to see that you and others like you NEVER succeed
Why, the OPPOSITE of Trump and MAGA, of course.
(I answered above, but someone's being deliberately rude.)
I'll try again, why can't YOU answer any questions?
What makes you think YOU are Christian in any way?
MAGA,
You're the one who supports a liar, criminal, rapist, and pedophile protector who acts like a dictator.
But, please do explain how I am destroying the country. Can you do it without appearing to be a paranoid schizophrenic or cultist?
Jason,
So, you're thanking Obama for a rising employment rate and lowering inflation to leave for Trump to screw up?
Thanks for showing us what a willfully ignorant white supremacist thinks.
Can you show us on the doll where Obama hurt you?
A Classic MAGA is actually projecting his and MAGA's very own actions. Perfectly.
What, or perhaps better put, who is a Christian?
Here's a short hand definition... Someone who believes in his or her heart that Jesus is Lord, confesses it from their lips and lives a life that testifies to the reality of the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross and his resurrection.
The Bebbington Quadrilateral has defined it as such since 1989...
-Biblicism: A particular regard for the Bible as the ultimate, supreme authority for all matters of faith, conduct, and spiritual truth.
-Crucicentrism: A central focus on Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross as the vital, essential means of humanity's redemption and salvation.
-Conversionism: The firm conviction that human lives need to be fundamentally changed through a personal "born-again" experience of turning away from sin and embracing the gospel.
-Activism: The active expression of the gospel through persistent effort, including evangelism, missionary work, social reform, and charitable deeds.
Jason, you think Obama should "retire"? Is that what presidents should do after their terms? Just walk away and be quiet?
Obama never lost a presidential election, winning both times by large margins. A majority of Americans still want to see him and Michelle advocating for them. You may not like it, but all of this is factual.
Now, if you believe a past president should just walk away, I can respect that. But you do not believe that at all. Because you do not believe Trump should have just retired after he was defeated in the 2020 election.
So your view holds no point because it is just situational. You hold it for Obama, but not all past presidents.
Beyond that, anyone who thinks Michelle is a man is a child who is not to be taken seriously, and is hurting the GOP, America and even MAGA. Misogyny, bigotry and racism, long part of American history and our original sins as a country, should be confined to the margins of society. Because those views do not express the American view of forming a "more perfect union". We fought a war, killing hundreds of Americans to say what you've expressed is literally, not American.
And yet, as you've proven, we still have a long way to go.
Classic MAGA. How about this... Do you believe all Americans have a duty to respect, follow and work for the success of President Trump? I believe you do. But let us know.
Because if you do, I'd ask this... is that a uniform view, or as I asked someone else, just a situational view?
Or to put it another way... do MAGA people, I presume, like you, who believe that, also believe when another president is elected, you should also respect, follow and work for the success of them?
Did you feel this way for Obama and Biden, or only Trump?
We'll await your answers, or your insults if you are too afraid or unable to answer.
"Franklin Graham, the son of the late preacher Billy Graham, spoke via a pre-recorded video at the prayer event, describing America as a country that has become "morally rotten" and "completely sick with sin."
Sounds like a perfect description of what America has become under the leadership of Trump, a convicted felon, adjudicated sexual assaulter/rapist, liar, cheat, and fraudster.
It is up to people who cherish what the Constitution has set out which allows freedom for people to practice their religion or no religion without interference of the government. And that means without the government favoring one religion over the other. The present corrupt Trump administration is busily destroying that foundation on which our laws are based.
As a nontheist (someone who has no belief in gods) I am disgusted with the administration's promotion of this militant Christian nationalism. And so are the many theists in my family and many other religious people who are my friends.
IMO, one cannot call oneself an American and tolerate what Trump and his administration is doing in promoting one religion over all others -- it is NOT the government's duty to do that.
“As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion..."
[Adams submitted and signed the Treaty of Tripoli, 1797]”
We are NOT a Christian nation, even though the majority of Americans practice Christianity. For now, a majority of Americans are white Americans, but we do not identify America as a "white nation."
Shaw,
I'm afraid most Christian Nationalists are indeed white and want white nation.
Racism is rampant among those people. They delight in the Republicans gerrymandering Blacks out of representation.
Dave,
How British of Bebbington to leave out the basic commandments and essence of Christianity. Brits have tended to shy away from the word "love" for some reason. No wonder most of the emphasis is on beliefs instead of love.
But at least he includes Old Testament values such as slavery and stoning adulteresses and anyone gathering wood on the Sabbath.
The OT is like the Bible's version of our antiquated Constitutional provisions for slavery, the Senate and Electoral College.
Men wrote both the Bible and Constitution. Contradictions and flaws happen in every work of man. Jesus was like an amendment to the Bible, and we need more amendments to the Constitution as well.
This stagnation of religious codes and government legalities stifle human social progress.
A glaring example is the fervor in Christian nationalists' crusade against abortion, gun control, and gay marriage. These have nothing to do with the message of Jesus. He never even mentioned them.
If Christianity isn't defined and framed as love and compassion, then it fails.
Or so preaches "Rev. Dave". ;-)
"Christian" Nationalists are not, and never have been, followers of the teachings of the prophet Jesus.
Today they have gained the political power through the criminal trump, "Moses" Johnson, and the pathetic corrupt republican party to enact their long sought after "Christian" Theocracy. A system that would be as brutally anti liberty and pro authoritarian as any Middle Eastern nation ruled by Sharia law.
Les,
" Republicans gerrymandering Blacks out of representation."
Examples please.
Do you believe in setting election districts based on race?
Bob,
Since that was my statement, I'd like to refuse to answer your inane question.
But I will.
Gerrymandering Blacks out of representation is exactly what Trump and his white nationalist party wants to do. It's still a Southern tradition, I may add.
Blacks vote for Democrats, so racist Republicans overturned the Voting Rights Act that compensated for their disenfranchisement and denial of fair representation.
Of course they call it "political" instead of racial gerrymandering. Both are repulsive and destructive to democratic representation.
Democrats have long voted for eliminating ALL partisan gerrymandering, but Republicans always wanted it to rig elections to win.
Now answer my question, please. Why do YOU want to deny Black Americans a voice in our elections?
By not answering you'll only be showing us YOUR racism.
Bob obviously supports a return to Jim Crow era. trump and the "Christian" white Nationalists dream.
In the FIRST PLACE. if I or anyone else wants to BE A RACIST IT MY OR ANYONE ELSE’S BUSINESS. And nobody else’s Business.
Bob... In Tennessee, black people are heavily concentrated in Memphis. As such, they dominated one and only one district. The one where they lived. For some reason, the local GOP thought that one district was one too many for black people. So they carved it up and moved 25% of the black people in that Memphis district into four other mostly totally white districts, completely diluting their voting power.
Now you tell me... why would they do that? To make the districts better represent the residents of the area? They already had that. So I'll wait to hear the reasons you'll never provide.
In Florida and South Carolina, state legislators redrew lines recently that even their state Supreme Courts, dominated by GOP appointees, found were race based. You tell me, why did that happen? An unintentional error? I'll wait for this answer too, another we will never see.
The fact is the VRA existed to ensure proper representation because southern and racist conservatives [then Dems, but now GOP folks] fought against black people being able to vote and being able to cast a vote that matters.
Now that conservatives have eviscerated it, we're seeing why. To limit the voice of black voters. Pure and Simple.
Now, I'd love an intelligent discussion on this, but it depends on your ability to return here and engage thoughtfully.
Can you do it? I don't know, but I'm always hopeful.
And there's our answer.
Racists are PROUD of their racism. And that's why Trump is in power and our democracy is dying.
That is correct anon, or Bob, or Jason. And that's the beauty of America. You can be a racist if you choose. You can be an idiot if you choose also. Or you can be someone that cares about your fellow man, which is what we would expect from anyone with Christian in their Nationalist moniker.
And frankly, I prefer the known racists, because that way we know we all stand.
It's like the slave owners of yore... they were racist, horrible people. But we knew where they stood. I appreciate that. At least the stabbing from those folks is in the gut, looking you in the eye, as opposed to in the back, chickens**t style from the closet racists.
Anon, like most in the highly individualized I, me, and mine American Christian Nationalist culture thinks the only thing that matters is how he personally feels about everything and can act accordingly. Without regard to how his actions affect others.
It might not be anybody else's business, but anon will, in future lives, be negafively affect by the karma he creates in this life.
