Christmas 2025

This “anti-fascist” lie has become the organizing rallying cry used by domestic terrorists to wage a violent assault against democratic institutions, constitutional rights, and fundamental American liberties.  Common threads animating this violent conduct include anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, and anti-Christianity; support for the overthrow of the United States Government; extremism on migration, race, and gender; and hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality.

- Donald Trump- Countering Domestic Terrorism and Organized Political Violence September 25, 2025

HUMBUG!

Beware of politicians invoking Christianity. Beware of clergy supporting those politicians.

They're not there to spread peace and love.

"Wherefore by their fruits we shall know them."

Merry Christmas to all Americans who are not neo-Nazis or MAGA Christian nationalists.

Christianity, the version created by Emporer Constantine and the RCC was, and continues to be, nothing but authoritarian control. The state uses it to unite power and control through allignment with Christianity while the Christian church blesses the inhumanity created by the state because the state Shepard them to Christianity. A scam since 325 CE.

Les,

If religion makes someone a better person, then fine. Good for them.

It's hard to dispute the argument that religion is largely about authoritarian control, power, wealth, and oppression. It has been used as a tool for colonization, and kept serfs and slaves in line, waiting for their reward in death. Pretty grim history.

The phrase "When the missionaries came to Africa, they had the Bible and we had the land. They said, 'Let us pray,' We closed our eyes. When we opened them, we had the Bible and they had the land" is attributed to the first President of Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta, and widely popularized by South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Native Americans understand as well.

No wonder authoritarian white people hate unfiltered history, critical thinking and critical race theory.

Dave, before we get too far away, your Hitler quote is from a speech Hitler delivered in Berlin on March 23, 1933.

But I need help. Perhaps our more conservative MAGA people can tell who they think of when they read that particular quote. I mean, if they can think of anyone...

And then, provide examples.

Dave Dubya said...

Dave,
I found a couple sources that date that quote from 1928, but it was a regular theme of his to convince Germans that he supported Christianity. He also attacked it as something the Jews fabricated. Trump and Nazis both like to have everything both ways.

Living a completly Dualistic Existence as Trump/MAGA are and the Nazis did lies at the very heart of the human condion of suffering and misery.

Dave Miller said...

Dave, here's more about the good "Christian" Nazis...

There is overwhelming historical evidence—meeting minutes, legal writings, immigration policy analysis, and scholarly research—that Nazi lawyers closely studied American race law and selectively drew on it when designing the legal framework of the Nuremberg Laws, viewing the United States as the world’s leading example of racialized law in a modern state.

This has always led me to wonder why Trump and many in the current MAGA GOP cannot, or will not denounce the current iteration of Nazis, sometimes known as "Neo Nazis" in their midsts.

Surprisingly, one person, Ben Shapiro, did begin the process to denounce folks like Nick Fuentes, an admitted Nazi apologist and his chief enabler and Tucker Carlson who has hosted him on his show without any condemnation of his views.

Here's how Shapiro described those two at the recent Charlie Kirk inspired Turning Point USA event in Arizona...

"As Hitler apologist[s], Nazi-loving, anti-American piece[s] of refuse... if you [Carlson] have that person [Fuentes] on your show and you proceed to glaze [publicize] him, you ought to own it.”

His statement was mostly met by boos from the crowd. Then in subsequent speeches, the Racist Anti-Semite Empire struck back...

From Carlson... “To hear calls for deplatforming and denouncing people [Nazis] at a Charlie Kirk event, I’m like, what? That’s hilarious...”

Apparently we should not denounce Anti-Semites, or Nazis...

Steve Bannon further mocked Rob Reiner and called Shapiro a cancer for his views that Nazi views are wrong.

Candace Owen, another lovely MAGA leader said F you to Shapiro when commenting on his calls to denounce Nazis.

Even VP Vance when he spoke put together a view eyeing the coming elections and discouraged the idea that conservatives should be excommunicating anyone based on their views.

Because they'll need the racist, Anti-Semite, Nazi votes to win the mid terms? Why not denounce them? Why not say those views are not welcome in the GOP? Why not?

Maybe the answer is because those racist, Anti-Semite, Nazi loving views are welcome in the GOP.

What other interpretation can there be?

What has happened to the GOP? We've been watching a death spiral since Charlottesville early in Trump 1.0. Sure, we have free speech, but it makes one wonder, are there any views that a person could hold where the GOP would say "Enough", racist, Anti-Semite, Nazi loving people are not welcome in their party?

It does not look like it.

Dave Dubya said...

Dave,
Americans don't want to learn how much Hitler admired racist capitalists like Henry Ford. Americans don't want to learn the fact Hitler's role model for codifying racism into law was the US and it's treatment of Blacks and Native Americans.

Yes, American Nazis have always been Republicans. They hated FDR, whom they loved to call a communist and socialist, as much as they loved Hitler, but when their Fuhrer declared war on the US after Pearl Harbor, they slithered back under their rocks.

Magically, Hitler was transformed into a "socialist" in today's Republicanazi era.

Study the outcome of the Council of Niacea 325 CE. As that unholy union of state authority and church echoes down the ages until the present time. At the root of state/religious authoritarianism is found in that history.

Dave, because labels change, I prefer conservative/progressive or conservative/liberal as opposed to GOP/Democratic.

In Lincoln's day, the GOP was the progressive party and the Dems the party of the conservative slave holders. That all started to change in the Civil Rights era as those former conservative southern Dems migrated to the GOP while the socially liberal GOP members left for the Dem party.

It just is a cleaner, IMHO, way to deal with the reality of the change in political thought and deal with the inevitable MAGA lover who will spew about uninformed thought about the Dems always being racist and Klan members.

Yes they were, but no longer. Now the Nazi, Klan, Jew hating cohort is reliably conservative. Or as some would say, Republican.

Dave Dubya said...

Dave,
Yes, Democrats were the conservative antebellum party.

Today the authoritarian personalities are all Republicans.

By the '30s Northern Dems became progressive while Republicans were conservative, isolationist, and a home for pro-Hitler Americans. While there were a couple Democrats charmed by Hitler, Republicans Earnest Lundeen, Jacob Thorkelson, and Hamilton Fish inserted German propaganda into the Congressional Record.

Before his suicide, Hermann Goring told anti-Nazi activist O. John Rogge he would have gladly spent $150 million to defeat FDR.

Elon Musk would have been inspired, and was as anti-democratic as Goring.

"It's hard to dispute the argument that religion is largely about authoritarian control, power, wealth, and oppression."
Our current political system is based off of that notion. The repubs make outlandish statements that they are for the average American when they don't know what that is. The dems rely on jefferies to tell the lie that it is the repubs who are ending obamacare when if people looked it is only the joe biden enhanced giveaway that is going away.
How can you believe any politician when the vast majority just line their pockets at your expense.

Dave Dubya said...

Hi, Skud,
Both politics and religion are open to abuse by authoritarians and greedheads who want wealth and power.

Politicians are humans and all humans lie. Some lies are much worse and more consequential than others. The lies used to take us to war in Vietnam and Iraq are among the very worst. The consequences of Trump's Big Lie were felt on J6, are being felt today, and will only increase.

271,000 Americans lost their jobs because of Trump and Musk's reckless firing of people, often backed by MORE lies about poor job performance. Many needed to be rehired. There was no serious examination of who and why they should be fired. It was impulsive and capricious, NOT sound governing. It was just cruelty based on bullshit.

It's not a lie telling Americans that Republicans want to end Obamacare. It is fact. They tried to repeal it numerous times. Of course, all they have to replace it with is, "You're on your own". Nice guys. Good "Christians", every one.

The "enhanced giveaway", aka subsidies, which btw corporations suck up the lion's share, meant many people could afford health insurance.

In 2026, unless Congress extends them, the enhanced ACA premium subsidies from the American Rescue Plan will expire, causing significant premium increases and restoring the "subsidy cliff," where people earning over 400% of the Federal Poverty Level lose eligibility, leading to much higher costs for many middle-income enrollees, especially self-employed individuals and early retirees.

The subsidies were also increased for people at lower incomes. They will lose their best chance for healthcare.

This is real, and Republicans don't give a damn about any of those Americans who are truly in need. Like Trump, they simply hate Obama and want to destroy everything he's accomplished. The same is true for Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. ALL are being stripped to give more tax cuts to Trump's billionaire donors.

Average Americans are the losers.

So who are the ones benefitting the most? The filthy rich who need it least.

Trump and his family are sucking up $billions abusing his presidential powers thanks to his corrupt pals on the Supreme Court delaying justice and giving him immunity. We know they are for sale, just like presidential pardons.

One party IS more corrupt and criminal, and tells more, and worse, lies as they and their donors are lining their pockets far more than the other party.

Learn the difference.

Les Carpenter said...

Yup, one party is MORE corrupt and beholden to corporations and the very wealthy. That being Republicans and many conservatives. They are not always one in the same. Democrats also bear some responsibility as they too played to the wealthy and powerful. And yes, it was to accrue the perks of office. Sometimes at the expense of the common working man and woman.

Politicians today see politics and governing as a game to be either won or lost and their party identity is attached to the win or lose contest. While the people they are supposed to represent and support become the casualties of their ideological warfare.

I get how you feel skud, the pain of division and ignorance affects all of us grappling to earn and maintain a comfortable existence. But at least one should put aside reified and cherished beliefs and analyze situations with an open and hopefully unbiased mind.

Letting go of old beliefs and desires is really the only path to unity and achieving the best possible outcome for ALL. It is not easy, but it is certainly worth the effort. At least in my opinion.

Both Republicans and democrats should be turning their fingers and begin pointing at themselves. And in the process do some deep reflection. Because it is true that BOTH democrats and republicans share in the mess they built together over the last 250 years.

The republicans are the authoritarians and the democrats are the more socialistic minded yet continue playing the greedy capitalist game that in truth lies at the very foundation of our income inequality and wealth co concentration in thr top 2 percent of the nation.

We desperately need a balanced non-partisan Supreme Court that will ban gerrymandering that deprives minorities their right to representation.

We desperately need a balanced non-partisan Supreme Court to overturn Citizens United with its fabricated and unconstitutional myths of corporate personhood, and their political donations as "free speech".

And just as important, we need a fair Supreme Court to overturn the fabricated, corrupt, and unconstitutional myth of "presidential immunity".

This is how the "MAGA 6" destroyed our representative democracy. They betrayed our Constitution and American values and need to be impeaches.

Les Carpenter said...

For certain. But Trup is where he is partially because the democractic party power structure forgot their roots and failed to produce, really produce for the American people. Providing the opportunity for the authoritarian cons that they have been waiting for for decades.

Once Trump is gone, and if the dems are back in the majority with the presidency, we'll see if they really mean what they say.

Not going to hold my breath. But if they have the opportunity Democratic Socialism is the path they should take, IMO. Which has evolved over the last 21 years.

skudrunner said...

It is the truth that tump shoots from the hip on almost everything he does. Firing all the government workers was a scatter gun approach when it should have been focused effort. Eliminating the DoE makes sense because they accomplished nothing and their whole function was to give money to reward poor performance.
No one is trying to get rid of obamacare currently, they are trying to get rid of the temporary increased payments that go directly to the insurance companies because biden felt sorry for them. If they felt this was necessary, like DACA, why not make them permanent.
Our healhcare system, like our public schools are broken and the only way to fix them is to make people responsible for their actions. Provide them vouchers to purchase health insurance and make all insurance companies compete in every state. Make providers publish their fees. Why does a facility bill $35000 for a knee and collect $13,000 but if you self pay you would pay $35000. Education needs to have reasonable collective bargaining not protect the bad system.
Never part of the special class obama governed for which was the very wealthy and the poor so he was not my favorite. Not a biden fan because he was incompetent and not a trump fan because he is off the rails and does some things well but totally messes up other things, like blowing up boats and attacking a foreign country.
Maybe we should strive to have neither party be corrupt instead of accepting one is less corrupt than the other.

Dave Dubya said...

Skud,
Just as you didn't understand how Americans will lose their health care, you summarily dismissed the Education Department as "they accomplished nothing and their whole function was to give money to reward poor performance".

Is there a reason you cannot cite specific evidence to support your broad, generalized, and dishonest Republican talking points?

So you'd prefer they send our tax dollars to private schools and eliminate oversight of them?

You want to eliminate "grant funding programs the[sic] fulfill the Department's mission to promote student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness, to foster educational excellence, and to ensure equal access."

Those MAGA goons don't even proof read what they write!!

You'd prefer they ignore the Constitution and inject religion into public education?

Let me get this straight. You are for "trying to get rid of the temporary increased payments that go directly to the insurance companies because biden felt sorry for them". Instead you prefer, "Provide them vouchers to purchase health insurance". I'd LOVE it if you could explain the difference, but I know you can't.

So, where would that voucher money go, again? "Biden felt sorry for insurance companies" is pure bullshit. Republicans are the reason Obamacare wouldn't have a public option in the first place.

The best healthcare systems provide universal public single payer coverage with lower costs and better outcomes. The US is seeing rising infant mortality rates and lower life expectancy.

And you think vouchers to insurance companies will work out better? Please.

The bottom line is you prefer the more corrupt and inefficient party that cuts medical and cancer research and deprives Americans of health insurance.

How many American deaths will it take for you to see this?

Dave Miller said...

Sure, let's talk about health care, since Skud and our conservative trolls are pretty quiet on the GOP acceptance of racist Nazis in their midsts. But first, a question...

Why do racists and admitted Nazi lovers like Nick Fuentes feel comfortable with the GOP and people like Skud, -FJ and Joe C? Is it because they hate his ideas, or because he believes he has found common cause with and support from them?

Now, onto health care.

The ACA/Obamacare is dead. Period. With the mandate gone, insurance at any level, cannot work. The entire premise sat on a truth actuaries understand. High risk at the high end is balanced by little or no risk the low end. In practice, that means younger, healthier people pay for us older, less healthy people, keeping the system afloat.

But with the mandate for everyone to get coverage gone, the situation became untenable. Young, healthy people stopped getting insurance in droves and the cost of insurance for the older, unhealthy people, sky rocketed.

These are just facts.

In response and in the middle of a pandemic that killed over 1 million Americans, the Biden admin and Congress passed a series of subsidy enhancements and opened eligibility laws. While increasing coverage for millions of Americans, those laws clawed back some of the lower prices overall that were lost when the mandates insurance companies said were needed to keep costs in line went away.

Again, facts.

So what do we do? Let companies compete across state lines? Who regulates it? The GOP will never accept federal regulation and insurance companies are never going to roll out 50 different policies for each state. Offer straight vouchers, a GOP solution for everything?

How do we decide who gets what? If the government decides to give Joe Smith a $500 a month voucher that he can only use on health care, how is that any different from the government just sending the $$$ directly to the insurance company to pay for Joe Smith?

It's a distinction without a difference.

I agree, we need changes. But smart changes that take into account reality and are well thought out so as to be effective.

Dave Dubya said...

Skud,
"Our healthcare system, like our public schools are broken and the only way to fix them is to make people responsible for their actions."

Can you elaborate? It sounds like you're blaming people for getting sick, poor students in underfunded schools, and underpaid teachers. Everyone BUT Republicans.

skudrunner said...

Rev and Dube, As you stated biden passed a series of temporary enhancements in payments and eligibility laws that were set to expire at the end of 2025. I realize once the government gives something away it is tough to stop the giving and that is a partial reason we are in the financial mess we are in. People are not going to lose obamacare, the insurance companies are just going to lose some profit, remember the only thing going away is the enhanced covid payments.

Now Rev, your example of just giving it to the insurance company shows no personal responsibility. When you go to buy a shirt do you know how much it costs, you probably do. When you go to have a finger sewed up do you know how much it costs, probably not. When someone gets obamacare do they shop for the best plan, why should they. ACA or obamacare was a program designed by politicians to serve their needs not the patients. To vote for something before you are allowed to see it is stupid yet that's what happened. It just shows how power hungry some are.

Obamacare should be replaced with a better plan but the elected elite won't do anything because then they can't blame the other side.

This is why the Trump Cult believes Biden stole the 2020 election, evidence be damned.
This is EXACTLY why our country is failing and Trump is in power. Do you believe Trump's Big Lie, too?

Dave Miller said...

Well Skud... that's what a voucher is... we just give it, as Trump said, and the person can spend it how they decide. I on the other hand, would make it conditional. The person HAS to buy an insurance policy. But again, unless everyone is in the pool, the prices will not come down.

I don't disagree we need a better plan. I know you've seen my posts to that effect for years, regardless of your inability to acknowledge that. But here's the reality, the GOP does not want a plan that involves the Feds.

Obamacare was the best us libs could get out of your party. The GOP purposely worked to make the ACA worse so it would fail, thus proving their "point" that government is useless.

BTW... I'm still waiting for the GOP plan we were promised in 2017 by Trump. And earlier this year by Speaker Johnson.

i know it's hard, because like Speaker Johnson and Trump have finally acknowledged, "Who knew health care was so complicated?"

The Dems knew. Us libs knew.

You guys... not so much.

Dave Miller said...

Dave... here's an early New Years Gift for Skud... from Jonathan Cohn at the Bulwark. He reports, after an interview about health care with Mark Cuban...

"For the last fifteen years, party leaders have been understandably preoccupied with defending the Affordable Care Act. And they can’t stop now, given that Donald Trump and the Republicans are still trying to roll back the law.

But “Obamacare” was never meant to be an end point. It was supposed to be a stepping stone on the road to a system that made health care accessible to all, while getting costs under control. Sometime soon, Democrats will have to talk more concretely about what comes next, whether it’s continuing to build on or around current arrangements, or trying something more sweeping."

Obamacare as stepping stone. It was envisioned as a first step. Which of course the GOP has worked to derail at every step.

Here's the link. It shows how Cuban has actually brought pharmacy costs down for American consumers.

It's a great read, though I suspect many will comment on it with out ever actually reading it.

Dave Dubya said...

“Pharmacy benefit managers" = "Fleece the sick at every turn".

Republicans will ALWAYS want to protect the insurance companies and other leeches on healthcare. As long as they get government funded healthcare, the rest us can get sick and die.

Dave Dubya said...

Skud,

Dave Dubya said...

Skud is probably avoiding the subject now, but if he cared for any information that wasn't fed to him by the Party of the Worst Liars, he can learn something.

What did Trump accomplish for Americans?

He gave billionaires, foreign born at that, HUGE tax cuts while taking away healthcare and food from Americans in need. What kind of "Christian" approves of that?

He fired hundreds of thousands of Americans without cause.

He' s stealing honor from war hero JFK on his congressionally named monument. He was a draft dodger. What kind of "hero" is that?

We all approve of deporting the violent criminals but his thugs are kidnapping and brutalizing non-violent immigrants and terrorizing children.

What "peace breakthroughs"?

A ceasefire that never happened in Gaza?

Let's look at the FACTS.

Israel and Hamas: A temporary ceasefire and hostage release deal was reached in late 2025, with credit given to US pressure, though ongoing conflict and a lasting peace remain elusive. IDF forces have killed hundreds of Gazans since the "ceasefire". Their war has been going for over 75 years. It STILL IS!

Israel and Iran: Trump has suggested his policies, including bombings of nuclear facilities, helped avert a war, though no direct peace agreement was signed between the two.

Pakistan and India: A ceasefire was announced in May 2025 following a flare-up over the disputed Kashmir region. Pakistan credited Trump, while India disputed his significant involvement.

Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC): The two nations signed a peace deal in June 2025. However, fighting has continued between the Congolese military and M23 rebels (which the DRC accuses Rwanda of backing), and the deal's effectiveness is questioned.

Thailand and Cambodia: A century-old border dispute flared up in mid-2025. A peace deal was signed after Trump threatened both countries with tariffs, but clashes resumed weeks later.

Armenia and Azerbaijan: The leaders agreed to normalize diplomatic relations in August 2025, a diplomatic breakthrough following previous conflicts, though the primary "war" had ended earlier.

Egypt and Ethiopia: This involved a dispute over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam on the Nile River. While military action was a concern, no actual war broke out, and no final agreement on water management has been reached.

Serbia and Kosovo: A 2020 agreement primarily focused on economic normalization. There is no evidence a "big war" was imminent at the time of Trump's claims in 2025, and tensions remain ongoing.

And fools like you BELIEVED him when he lied about ending Putin's war in "24 hours".

The more you believe his lies the more deranged you truly are.

Your “Man of the People”:

$170 Billion for ICE
$117 Billion in tax cuts for the rich
$40 Billion for Argentina
$350 Million for a vanity ballroom
$230 Million in DOJ payments to Trump
$172 Million for Kristi Noem’s jets
$100 Million on golf

IS THERE NO END TO YOUR IGNORANCE?

Dave Miller said...

Anon, you may not believe this but... YOU ARE RIGHT!

President Trump has succeeded where other presidents have failed in regards to the border. He has exercised presidential power in unthought of ways to essentially seal off the US from illegal immigration.

And for that, he should be applauded.

The rest of your examples? not so much, but credit where credit is due.

And his actions show that a president CAN make a difference if he or she desires and takes decisive action. Progressives can learn from him on this.

Let's not forget MOST Americans disapprove of Trump's cruelty in mass deportations. We all want the violent ones deported, but terrorizing children, tearing them from their parents, brutalizing non-violent immigrants, and abducting people out of immigration courts while following the rules isn't what we want.

Anonymous,

Guess who else isn't coming to America because of Trump? Tourists and their MONEY!

“Five years of social media history is not about verifying identity,” lawyer and migration expert Petra Molnar said. “It is about monitoring beliefs and flagging people who may not agree with the current Trump administration’s policies. And once this kind of infrastructure exists, history shows it rarely remains limited to its original purpose.”

There are concerns about harm to the tourism industry, which is already facing reduced international visitors.

For the travel industry, the concerns are immediate: confusion, delays and a strong incentive for foreign tourists to simply choose other destinations.

“International tourism to the U.S. has already experienced an 8.2% declinein 2025,” said luxury travel expert and boutique consultancy founder Sarah Casewit. “This new proposed policy will only cause this number to go even higher in 2026.”

Indeed, the World Travel & Tourism Council previously found that the U.S. was already on track to lose $12.5 billion in international visitor spending this year.

“International visitors are core to U.S. tourism revenue, especially in cities like New York, Los Angeles, Orlando, Miami and Honolulu,” said travel writer Rocky Trifari. “I believe a requirement like this will create a sense of distrust among prospective travelers.”

Many visitors view social media as deeply personal, not as data to be packaged for government review.

“The idea of handing over five years of records to the United States government may feel invasive, less welcoming and ambiguous in how the data could be interpreted,” Trifari said. “Even if a traveler has nothing to hide, it might prompt anxiety and discourage spontaneous, leisurely trips.”

U.S. tourism faces $5.7B US loss as Canadians continue to stay home

Number of Canadians visiting the U.S. has been in steep decline since Trump took office

Many Canadians continue to boycott travel to the United States, and the U.S. economy is paying the price.

A U.S. Travel Association report forecasts a 3.2 per cent decline in international tourism spending in the country for 2025, a loss of $5.7 billion US compared to the previous year.

The association largely attributes the loss to a decline in the number of Canadian visitors — a trend that has persisted since U.S. President Donald Trump returned to office in January, sparked a trade war with Canada and began referring to the country as the 51st state.

In the latest data for October, the number of return trips among Canadians travelling to the U.S. dropped by 24 per cent for air travel and by 30 per cent for land travel, compared with the same time last year.

Canadians traditionally make up the largest group of international tourists to the U.S., totaling 28 per cent of its 72.4 million visitors in 2024.
