Americans wittingly and unwittingly voted for fascism in 2016.
All the tyrant needed was a complicit and corrupt Supreme Court to win again.
So, the tyrant appointed his judicial co-conspirators, lied about a rigged election, and incited an insurrection.
The honorable American tradition of peaceful transfer of power was terminated. The tyrant's violent criminal attempts to steal the 2020 election violated his oath to the Constitution. Under the rule of law he should have been prosecuted, punished, and never permitted into public office again.
The corrupt Justices abdicated their duty to the 14th Amendment in defense of their sponsor's insurrectionist crime spree.

With overwhelming supporting evidence, the Biden Justice Department rightfully indicted the tyrant for his numerous crimes.
Then the corrupt Justices fabricated the unconstitutional absurdity of "presidential immunity". The robed traitors endorsed the tyrant's power to politicize the Department of Justice into his personal weapon to persecute opponents, officials who pursued lawful convictions of his thugs, and even those who dared to disagree with him.
The honorable American ideal of "equal justice under law" was terminated. They may as well sandblast the antiquated inscription of those words from the portico of the Supreme Court building.
This enabled Americans to embrace the fascist criminal again in 2024.
America had lost its moral grounding. Finally the corrupt Justices stripped courts of their ability to wield checks and balances, and their judicial authority of injunction over illegal orders.
The legacy of the brazenly stolen and traitorous Roberts/McConnell/Trump court will rot in infamy as the most destructive in American history.
The end of the greatest experiment in representative democracy was sealed.

Praying, I'm afraid, will not change the trajectory America has chosen for its decline into a second or even third world mentally. Never mind prayer, I'm afraid that even voting can't fix this country. White "Christian" nationalism along with its partners in oligarchic corporate corruption and greed have taken power and will NOT relinquish it.

A last hope will be the midterms. If the Dems can take back the house and senate they can at least put up some roadblocks to this madness.

The midterms are more important this time than ever before. We know the Republicanazis will do their best to suppress voters and rig the elections any way they can. The fascists will do their utmost to steal any close elections.
Dems SHOULD win back both houses, but these are not normal times.
Even in the best case where they win both Houses, so much damage will have been done, with no way to repair it in the foreseeable future.
The evil ones understand it's faster and easier to destroy than to build.
The only thing they want to build is a militarized police state dictatorship, and they've purged nearly everyone who isn't loyal to Trump from federal law enforcement.
And would Democrats have the courage to defund ICE? They won't be able to undo Project 2025. I don't see how they'll be able to restore honor and integrity to the agencies that have been corrupted by Trump loyalists.
I see a bleak forecast even if Dems win the midterms. The tyrant will still be in power. Impeachment would only give us Vance...
One thing for certain is America has lost its leadership in a world that has learned to not depend on it or trust it anymore.
And we did it to ourselves.
Let me add to your malaise...
Let's say the Dems don't figure out how to lose and somehow win both the Senate and the House in the next midterms.
First, the Senate. If the Dems win, expect Thomas and potentially Alito to retire allowing Trump, in a lame duck session to name 2 teenagers to the bench. And for the Dems to cry all day long while clutching pearls. And on and on it will go.
The House. This is where the Dems could do some damage by exposing the SCOTUS rot with public hearings. And they should.
Collectively, if I was in power, and a Dem, I would push a Constitutional Amendment not to term limit the judges, but put an upper age limit of 70 for service. Every American understands ppl slow as they age. Maybe I'm wrong, but I bet the American ppl will go for this. It allows for regular renewal of thought in the SCOTUS and can limit the effects of partisanship, especially because the current average age of nominated judges is at a little over 51, 53 limiting the sample to just post WWII.
Would this fix the rot? Doubtful. Would it flatten the ROT line? I bet it would.

How would this work, even if the House approved it? The Trump admin has already decided that Congress does not have the power of the purse and that the Executive Branch can sequester funds, steal from other funds and otherwise disregard the will of Congress. The WH sees themselves as the branch that decides where money will be spent, after Congress approves the top line amount.
Constitutional? Doubtful, but are you expecting this SCOTUS to slap it down?

While we have our fantasies about what should be done, we know the pattern.
Democrats will want to "return to normal", when "normal" has been in the graveyard for a decade. Never mind that "normal" in the US was essentially corporate power pulling the levers of government, thanks in no small part to corporate sponsored Democrats.
Democrats needed to expand the Supreme Court in 2021 for more balance. They were too meek to do what was necessary to prevent Trump's personal defense team on the bench to gut the 14th Amendment and grant him immunity from justice.
Fascism has merely been latent, lurking in the shadows, for nearly a century. Recall the Jim Crow era, the "Southern strategy", and American Nazi rallies in the '30s.
The chasm between what Dems SHOULD do and WOULD do is wide enough to swallow a republic. The same goes for corporate media.
Amoral corporatists and corporations are never anti-fascist. Corpo-Dems need to be primaried for the cause of democracy. Since the system is rigged in their favor, we can't expect anything besides the same old rotting "normal" at best.
I wish I could have faith in younger people, but their heads are as full of propaganda and bullshit as the rest of the country.

No. He got the best treatment only the rich could afford.
