Nuremburg In Texas

Trump was in full victim/liar/projection mode at a fairground in Conroe, Texas last Saturday.

He attacked our justice system for prosecuting his terrorist thugs and openly called for more mob violence if he is found guilty of his crimes.

"If these radical, vicious, racist prosecutors do anything wrong or illegal, I hope we are going to have in this country the biggest protest we have ever had in Washington DC, in New York, in Atlanta and elsewhere because our country and our elections are corrupt."

We all know what happened the last time he incited a mob to “protest”. He just added more evidence of sedition to the case against him.

Like all fascist leaders he incited anger, rage and hatred for anyone against him.

He invoked a false sense of victimization in his cult by including them in his persecution delusion.

"In reality, they're not after me, they're after you, and I just happen to be the person in the way."

"They're after you."

Instilling fear and paranoia is vital to the fascist agenda.

He continued to defend his criminal mob, after he made it clear on January 6, 2021 when he said, “We love you. You’re very special.”

“If I run and I win, we will treat those people from Jan. 6 fairly. And if it requires pardons, we will give them pardons, because they are being treated so unfairly.”

He’s still trying to legitimize his putsch.

Since so many fascist Republican cowards have shown they will appease his sedition, incitement for insurrection, violence and destruction, they will not denounce his latest outright stochastic terrorism: “To incite random actors to carry out violent or terrorist acts that are statistically predictable but individually unpredictable.”

To be clear, Trump is a stochastic terrorist.

Trump follows Hitler's example of branding those in opposition as "communists".

Hitler: “The Universities are filled with students rebelling and rioting. Communists are seeking to destroy our country.”

Trump: “Like it or not, we are becoming a communist country. That’s what’s happening...The radical left democrat communist party... "All the Democrats want to do is put people in jail. They are vicious, violent, and Radical Left thugs. They are destroying people’s lives... This is what happens in communist countries and dictatorships...”

See the difference in their rhetoric? I can’t.

It is imperative for fascists and tyrants to destroy journalism in order to implant their hateful propaganda into their followers.

The Orange Fuhrer relentlessly attacked our free press as “fake news”, echoing the original Nazis' demonizing term “Lügenpresse”, or lying press.

So Trump paints anybody who does not praise him as the enemy.

“The press is the enemy of the people. The corrupt media will destroy our country.”

More demonization. More fear. More hate. It is a war on truth.

This is how the dream of democracy dies and a republic is crushed.

Anyone who can’t see the similarities in Trump and Trumpism to the rise of Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini is either a radical Right authoritarian, duped by delusions and lies, incurious, semi-literate, woefully uninformed, willfully ignorant, or simply uneducated in history.

It is the Great American Tragedy that far too many millions of our citizens are among those benighted souls.

Alan Dershowitz went on with Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures today to talk about the upcoming retirement of Justice Stephen Breyer, and Joe Biden’s illiberal promise to exclude thousands of qualified potential replacements specifically and only on account of their race or gender or both.

It’s a litmus test that clearly isn’t keeping with the Constitution and is probably (definitely) legally unconstitutional. Disallowed. You know, un-American.

Look you can brag all the long day that you’re trying to be inclusive, but that won’t change the facts that you’re actually being exclusive, Joe. This is just one more time Biden’s letting the far-left wing control the Oval Office.

Anonymous Vern is at it again with his latest off-topic troll spew.

Whatever bullshit Dershowitz said to Bartiromo is irrelevant to this discussion.

He and Vern are hypocrites who had no issue with Reagan’s “illiberal promise to exclude thousands of qualified potential replacements specifically and only on account of their gender. It’s a litmus test that clearly isn’t keeping with the Constitution and is probably (definitely) legally unconstitutional. Disallowed. You know, un-American.”

They can both stuff their bigotry and hateful double standards.

He cited a Republican poll (for the second time), and he’s mad that I won’t allow him to dump it again. So he whined “CENSORSHIP!” and compared me to Stalin, like any other neo-Nazi would do.

He showed his racism with, “He is a great example of an anti-American racial black liberal”.

He proved my case again and showed his Trumpist fascism with, “Dave for showing us just how close you are to Communism".

He thought he was calling me out in the previous thread on "Myth Busting" with, “Where did the GOP ever say Catholics only?”

It’s not what they say, it’s what they have DONE.

The Supreme Court now features a total of six Catholics on the bench, accounting for two-thirds of its total number of justices. There are seven with Neil Gorsuch, whose affiliation is listed as Anglican/Catholic.

Yeah, what DOES the Constitution say about "no religious test"? What DOES the Constitution require of the Senate for the Black president’s nomination? All disregarded by Republicans.

That’s more than enough of his bigotry, lies, hate and racism.

I do thank him for the irrefutable proof that I have been correct in my assessment of his kind.

TRUMP: "All the Democrats want to do is put people in jail."

I recall the disgraced foreign agent, Gen. Michael Flynn, yelling "LOCK HER[Hillary] UP!" at the RNC convention where they nominated Trump as their candidate for POTUS. And that slogan became a rallying cry for the Trumpistas. Trumpublicans' memories, (like their fealty to the Constitution), are non-existent.

Re: The statement Trump made at his latest rally in Texas, Jan. 30: That he wanted his former Vice President Mike Pence to "overturn the election" is an admission of his treachery and traitorous plan to steal the 2020 election from the legal, rightful winner, Joe Biden.

We are at a perilous crossroads in our democracy. Either the Trumpublicans will support democracy or they'll support the traitorous Trump. They CANNOT DO BOTH!

James and Bragg are investigating Trump for alleged misconduct related to his businesses, including potential fraud. Willis and Thompson are investigating Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. Trump effectively threatened to sic his followers on the officials if they continue their probes, which have been heating up over the past few weeks.

“These prosecutors are vicious, horrible people," Trump complained Saturday. "They’re racists and they’re very sick."

Leftists like this one who writes this blog seems to obsess about terms they don't even understand. For example, when Elizabeth Warren put on her applications that she was part Indian, so that she would receive special perks, what did that mean to her? What did that mean to those who gave her those perks? And when Warren sent in a blood test that showed she was only 1023rd Indian, Indians retorted that the percentage of Indian genetics was not high enough to consider her as part of their tribe. So Warren got all those special perks on a false premise, at least according to the Indian nation. Sure, she made a fool of herself, but does anyone care? Democrats make fools of themselves all the time and no one seems to care, at least, in the media.

Hello Dave, I see Tom ungraciously just shut the the blog down without even a note to people who spent years supporting his site.

Censorship is increasing in the media because of Covid and the vaccines by the day. There is not the smallest story about the Canadian truckers protesting the mandates in the MSM.

Go Fund Me has just stolen 9 Million dollars donated to support the truckers which should be the end of that corporation.

I never thought Truckers would be the ones to end the vaccine mandates but they have immense power, by just doing nothing they can bring any country to its knee's.

Massive convoys are now planned in the U.S. this spring, the MSM will have to cover it when it happens.

Dave Dubya said...

Woody,
I hope Tom is well.

As usual, American media are too busy with sensationalism within our borders. Most Americans have no clue who the Canadian Prime Minister is.

They are not censoring. They are "editing". They are doing what they have done since news became profit-driven, "If it bleeds, it leads".

Thankfully the truckers who are protesting are a small minority. The protests are drawing radical Right extremists. Residents are being harassed and the window of an LGTBQ coffee shop was smashed. On top of that, the city of Ottawa is showing a significant rise of covid.

https://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/truck-convoy-protests-road-closures-continue-thursday-as-frustration-grows

Do truckers realize THEY will be responsible for bringing higher prices to the people due to their fear of a vaccination? Do they care? Or are they too self-centered within their own paranoia?

Do they realize the people dying are those who refused the vaccination? Again, do they care?

Once the Confederate flag made its appearance in Ottawa, and it has, we know where they are coming from. The radicalized Right.

Before the vaccination, one of my friends died from covid and another lost his taste and smell. In the last few months two more vaccinated friends caught it and didn't require hospitalization.

Bottom line: When people fear the vaccine more than the disease, they only invite more death. Why is that so difficult for people? They are misinformed and seek only confirmation bias

Too many points to address at once but you are accepting MSM propaganda about the truck protest too easily.

You Tube has a hundred videos and there is virtually no violence even though there are 100s of thousands involved. It is in almost every Canadian city and they are doing it in 20 and 30 F below weather. Truckers received so much food they are giving it away to the homeless.

A lot of stupid stories out there like Putin is behind the movement. I have no doubt that there will be violence as the police are getting more belligerent all the time.

Dave Dubya said...

Woody,

Sure there are many well-intentioned truckers. They can be decent people, and just operate according to their beliefs. They are NOT medical experts. Do they let epidemiologists tell them how to drive trucks? No. A trucker would tell them to, "Stay in your lane".

None of this would even be happening if not for the massive flood of anti-vax conspiracy theories.

You accuse GoFundMe of "stealing" funds donated to the truckers. That is false.

GoFundMe posted this Tweet: "To simplify the process for our users, we will be refunding all donations to the Freedom Convoy 2022 fundraiser. This refund will happen automatically—you do not need to submit a request. Donors can expect to see refunds within 7-10 business days."

Let me know when you find solid evidence to the contrary. I don't think you will.

Trump and his loyal party of treacherous traitors are all in for the protests. Those are Canada's Right wingers protesting. The Confederate flag is a dead give-away.

If you disbelieve the massive preponderance of evidence that the unvaccinated suffer the great majority of deaths, then you might want to question fringe sources more than hospital records, the AMA, CDC, peer-reviewed research, and the medical community as a whole. They are not all out to kill us.

Most of the evidence of vaccine-related deaths you have cited comes from self-reporting unverified sources and fringe media. I've checked a number of your sources and found this to be the case.

Even the wise and all-knowing Joe "N-Word" Rogan was clearly shown to be wrong.

If you want to believe in the Great Covid Anti-vax Conspiracy, you might be a candidate to believe Trump's Big Lie that demands a belief in another such vast conspiracy. They think poll workers, recounts, city and county boards of commissioners, secretaries of state from both parties, electors, over 60 courts, Trump's Attorney General, DOJ and Homeland Security, as well as corporate and liberal media are ALL lying to them. Only Trump is telling the truth.

But then, nothing is more powerful than beliefs and faith in a demagogue. Anti-vax people dying from Covid have denied the cause of their own demise.

At any rate, I still welcome any thoughts or evidence you'd like to share.

Woody,

Rogan is an actor and interviewer, not an epidemiologist. I don't like censorship, but I also don't like the propagation of dangerous falsehoods and radical Right propaganda. But we’re stuck with it.

I won’t listen to him because he’s just another racist narcissistic ego.

Malone was correct with: “Once again I feel it necessary to make a clear and unambiguous statement. The data strongly indicate that the experimental genetic vaccines, including the mRNA and recombinant adenoviral vaccines, have saved lives. Many lives.”

His questionable assertion was saying natural immunity is better than the vax. I don’t think that has been verified. Worse yet, he compared pandemic policies to the Holocaust.

As for Rogan, although he eventually voted libertarian, he said he would "rather vote for Trump than Biden".

Trump crowed about his “endorsement”. That makes him more a liability than asset to our national discourse.

I got no use for him.

“The second article says vaccinated people catch Covid more than the unvaccinated”.

Not exactly. This did not apply to the fully vaccinated. The article explained why. Only half the eligible at risk people took the boost so they were more vulnerable. (See last two sentences.)

From:
Israel’s rise in Covid deaths is an important lesson for the UK on vaccines
There are several reasons why one of the world's most highly vaccinated countries is now seeing a rise in Covid deaths

The waning of initial vaccinations also helped explain why, of 822 deaths recorded since the start of the year, only 293 were unvaccinated.
“I do not mean to suggest the vaccine is ineffective at all - it is still 90 per cent effective if we normalize by population size. But what I think happened is some attrition in the effect of August’s booster shots”, said Dr Raveh.
Israel was the first to provide them back in August, and their effect may have waned considerably. It was believed at first that this affected only infection rates, but apparently, it also caused more cases of severe disease.
The uptake of the fourth vaccine dose to combat this waning has also been poor.
“Israel was the first country to authorize a fourth dose back in early January to both medical staff and the elderly, but only half of those eligible took it, in part because early reports about its effectiveness were mixed,” said Dr Raveh.
In fact, a fourth dose turns out to be incredibly effective. Recent real-world data from Israel shows it leads to a 4.3-fold decrease in severe disease in the over 60s, compared to a third dose given more than four months earlier.
“Giving the fourth dose to individuals who were at risk of developing severe disease has been instrumental in limiting the burden on hospitals in Israel during the fast and wide-spreading Omicron surge”, said the study’s authors.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/israels-rise-covid-deaths-important-lesson-uk-vaccines/

I know you’d never support Trump, but Ironically he recommended vaccination last summer.

I’ve never been shown the evidence of Trump’s Big Lie (Grand conspiracy) about the stolen election.

Won’t happen. The believers cannot prove their case because it is a lie.

I’m still waiting for the evidence of the Great Covid Anti-vax Conspiracy.

All evidence shows death is weeding out the unvaccinated at an exponentially higher rate than the fully vaccinated.

You’ll have to disprove that body count, the primary evidence against the conspiracy theory, to make your case.

I enjoy your challenges to my critical thinking, and the opportunities to do research.

Too many people are either not curious or just gullible these days. I try to be skeptical of the skeptics too. We get false information on every front, some due to malevolent political intent and some due to insufficient information.

Constant vigilance, brother.

Same old cold war crap. We avoided WWIII then and hopefully can do so again. There's no lust for war here like back in 2003 when most Americans were duped into thinking Saddam was involved with al-Qaeda and 9-11.

The root of all this goes back to the dominance by the Military/Industrial complex Eisenhower warned us about.

And this takes us to the problem of corporate personhood, FEC v Citizens United, and other decisions that eroded our democracy.

We're stuck in a corporatized oligarchy being subsumed by authoritarian nationalism.

Not exactly what the founders had in mind. But thanks to the Electoral College, corporate judges, the powerful Right wing media complex, and unrepresentative senate, here we are.

Only some serious Constitutional amendments can begin to clean up this mess, and that won't happen because, as George Carlin put it, "You don't have rights, you have owners."

The basis for all the U.S. - Russia problems started with Obama's coup in Ukraine in 2014. You have never acknowledged that as far as I remember.

The U. S. did not anticipate that, they stupidly thought they were going to move the Navy into the warm water ports that Russia has used for centuries!

That was the start of all the blame Russia for every thing that is going on to this day.

Not sure what your last line meant.

I take it you agree with the "Nuremburg in Texas" piece.

Shaw is the only person to mention anything about it.

Yes the coup was backed by the US because of corporate dominance of US policy. They own our government, which was my point.

There were a number of coups before that one as well.

The corporate oligarchy in the US naturally wants to absorb and exploit Ukraine.

So does Putin. His incursions into the Donbas make that clear.

He first needs to remove the possibility for Ukraine to join NATO to make that happen.

He wants all of Ukraine under his control. He's no saint.

Russians did indeed try to hack into our election. Putin wanted Trump in office. He told us as much. Anyone who thinks his hands are clean is pro-Russia, naive or uninformed.

Look up Reality Winner. She was locked up for sharing a classified document — one that described Russian military efforts to spear-phish dozens of local election officials ahead of the 2016 election.

The ONLY sane solution in Ukraine is the complete removal of Russian military assets from the Donbas and the end of US military intervention and escalation.

BOTH have to happen. But Ukraine is trapped between two powers that want to dominate it.

This is what I mean by Biden and Putin being in a geopolitical cold war pissing match.

Back in June, during a nationally televised call-in show, Putin pronounced that Ukrainians and Russians were a "single people." He then elaborated on the subject in a 5,000-word article that lamented the "artificial division of Russians and Ukrainians."

"Why Putin Still Covets Ukraine"

A 5,000-word essay by the strongman explains his thinking. It pays to listen.

woodenman said...

So far I read the CNN article, it was just a poorly done hit piece. Everybody is coming up with 100 different ways they will punish Russia IF he invades Ukraine.

Almost every thing Russia does is in reaction to the U.S. Bush 2 broke the first nuclear agreement, Trump broke the last three agreements. Biden reinstated one of them.

Obama started throwing Russian diplomats out of the US and Trump did the same and Biden is following Trump. In every case Russia was not the aggressor.

Putin got rid of NGOs, they were anti Russian U.S. funded groups, that is just common sense.

No mention of Obama's coup, the 4 Billion in weapons we shipped to Ukraine for free and all the missile bases in Poland, Rumania, and Ukraine the U.S. is doing and planning.

You have a long uphill road to prove Russia is more of a warmonger than the U.S.

Woody,

By his own words, Putin reveals his feelings and intentions. He wants more than Donbas.

To claim he doesn't want control over border states would be difficult to support.

The MIC and corporate America want their fingers in the Ukraine pie, as does Putin.

The motive of the US is what the corporate media don't want to mention.

I don't recall claiming Russia being more of a war monger than the US, but they have their own bloody history in Afghanistan and Chechnya, and in the Donbas.

The reality is Putin wants Ukraine in his sphere of influence.

Ukraine rightly feels they need to co-exist with Russia, and are doing their best to try to tone down the US corporate/MIC sponsored rhetoric. They would probably see more money aligned with NATO than Russia. It needs to be their choice, not ours, not Putin's.

I went to your link after writing this and found nearly the same words:

From the article:
"But if Moscow is going to push to remove NATO forces from its borderlands, this means an endless series of diplomatic-military clashes or a U.S. recognition of a Russian sphere of influence where NATO does not go."

As I've been saying, neither the US nor Putin want to leave Ukraine alone and let it decide its course.

That makes BOTH of them the problem.

Woody,

A little history on US foreign policy.

Believe it or not, it’s not always about spreading freedom and democracy.

It's too often outright predatory. This has been how the US economic empire expanded globally since The Wars with Mexico and Spain.

There’s a pattern of US and global corporate power in their tendency toward imperialistic, political and economic meddling in other countries.

"Confessions of an Economic Hitman" by John Perkins is an insider account of how neo-liberal corporatists strong-arm poor vulnerable nations into allowing US corporate interests into their country.

First powerful, or multi-national corporations, send in the economic hitmen, to persuade their government to allow US banks and businesses in. They talk them into borrowing money and "investing" in US interests and eventually absorb the country into its sphere of influence.

If the country resists, then a security/military "crisis" is cited to justify supporting insurgencies, coups, or outright military occupation or action.

Historically, countries like Venezuela, Cuba, Panama, and Nicaragua know what I’m talking about. Grenada learned it was unacceptable for Russians to build an airbase there.

Since the Monroe Doctrine the US has constantly expanded and solidified its sphere of influence, especially in the Americas. As you noted, the ugly effects of this are scattered around the globe.

On the other side of the world, the Soviet Union captured the Eastern Block after WWII.

The West created NATO to defend against Soviet expansion.

The collision of these expansionist powers resulted in the Cold War.

Not long after the Soviet Union’s military aggression in Afghanistan, it couldn’t economically sustain itself. A union movement sprang up in Poland and Satellite countries asserted their independence. The Soviet Union fractured, but Russia is still a major power.

Now Ukraine is caught between Russia and the West.

The fact is Putin still wants to control Ukraine. He's already in the Donbas, and is massing troops around Ukraine in a power move to assert his will to dominate Ukraine. So far he's there to intimidate, not invade.

Ukraine knows this, and are trying to tell the US to stop overreacting. But Western Capitalism...THAT's our side of problem. The Big Money boys want Ukraine and would use NATO to get it.

And Putin is a cold-blooded KGB style killer, and an expert in assassination and destabilization. He's the other problem, perhaps to a lesser degree so far, but Putin has no right to march in and take Ukraine. Two wrongs don’t make a right, nor does one wrong make a right either. There are no angels in this mess.

Sadly we are depending on enough of the non-military Big Money players on both sides to understand there’s more opportunities for money in peace than war.

We need more of our better angels to prevent a war. And we also need better angels to reverse the damage wrought by our own corrupt, radicalized, Trump-infected government.

Regardless, none of this give Putin the right to seize Ukraine.

So here we are.

Access to at least three US-Canada border crossings in Michigan, North Dakota and Montana have been cut off by trucker protests on the Canadian side of the border.
The three border crossings are:
• Coutts, Alberta, to Sweet Grass, Montana
• Emerson, Manitoba, to Pembina, North Dakota
• The Ambassador Bridge at Detroit and Windsor, Ontario

Canadian mayor says both sides of the border are experiencing negative effects from protest

The mayor of Windsor, Canada, which is right across the border from Detroit, Michigan, said the protest blocking the flow of traffic on the Ambassador Bridge that straddles the two cities is financially impacting his city and the whole nation.

"For perspective, we're talking 8,000 to 10,000 trucks a day. ... In terms of dollars and cents, we're talking about $400 million per day that crosses at this location," Mayor Drew Dilkens said to CNN's Kate Bolduan.

"In Windsor, we are the auto capital of Canada. The supply chain on both sides of the border has been built up and is tightly integrated. When the border is closed, there is an immediate reaction because of ... delivery schedules. There is an immediate reaction at plants on both sides of the border," he said.

He added that the economies of both the US and Canada "cannot handle this type of impact" for much longer.

"If the protesters don't leave, there will have to be a path forward. If that means physically removing them ... then we're prepared to do that," he said.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer called on Canadian authorities to "reopen traffic on the bridge." She said ongoing closures have negatively impacted Michigan’s economy, including the automotive, agriculture and manufacturing sectors.

Dilkens said there is also a threat of violence in the demonstration, and police have encountered protesters come out of vehicles with tire irons.

Biden is acting like we are already at war with Russia, sending weapons to Ukraine, sending troops to all the nearby countries and making nonstop threats.

Russian troops have been in the same places since April but the U.S. is acting like they are rushing toward Ukraine.

It would be a lot smarter to give Putin what he wants rather than go for an all out confrontation but the U.S. does not do smart.

Dave Dubya said...

Woody,
We're not at war, but the bluffing and belligerent posturing by both the US and Russia make it a real threat.

It would help if Ukraine came out and declared they were not interested in joining NATO and the EU, but the Big Money interests make that almost impossible.

If the West simply backs off from NATO expansion, things would settle down.

The article at the link below was written in 2014. My only criticism is the author blames “liberals” instead of Neo-liberals, the global corporatist interests in the West. It’s not like Bush or Trump alleviated the situation. They were as much in bed with corporatist neo-liberalism as Clinton and Obama. It's one of the ugly sides of global capitalism.

Biden is stuck in the Cold War mentality, and corporate powers are pulling the strings of foreign policy, as always. That's how neo-liberalism works. That's why the US can't "do smart". It is controlled by the greedy economic elites, not progressive liberals.

The author presents the simple case in terms of how the US would not tolerate a Russian/Chinese military presence in Canada or Mexico, as Putin feels about Ukraine.

A neutral Ukraine is the sensible answer. Neither Putin nor the West want that, it seems. But NATO and the EU have to back off.

From Bill Blum, a former administrative law judge and death penalty defense attorney:

”The Republican Embrace of Trumpian Fascism Is Complete—and Now Must Be Defeated”

https://www.commondreams.org/views/2022/02/12/republican-embrace-trumpian-fascism-complete-and-now-must-be-defeated?vgo_ee=TdsLHDdxi2gxIOarG9siE5v5lxZVEqRg78jODsWGbbw%3D

The Republican Party's embrace of fascism is now open and notorious, and impossible to ignore.

"If I run and I win, we will treat those people from Jan. 6 fairly," he declared. "And if it requires pardons, we will give them pardons, because they are being treated so unfairly."

Implicit in the prospect of pardons is the endorsement of political violence and the promotion of alternative realities, both hallmarks of classic and, now Trumpian, fascism.

Trump vowed, "If these radical, vicious, racist(meaning Black)prosecutors do anything wrong or corrupt, we are going to have the biggest protests we have ever had."

The Republican National Committee, on the other hand, responded to Trump's speech with abject genuflection. On February 4, the RNC voted to censure Representatives Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois for serving on the House select committee investigating the insurrection. In its formal censure resolution, the RNC condemned the pair for "joining in a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens who engaged in legitimate political discourse."

There are countless other examples of the GOP's fascist transformation. To cite just a few, there was the party's decision to pledge loyalty to Trump rather than adopt a new platform for the 2020 elections. There were the "coup memos" written by attorneys associated with the Trump campaign. There were the fake Electoral College certifications prepared by party operatives in several swing states. All occurred amid a constant drumbeat of white grievance and nationalism broadcast by Fox News and other right-wing media outlets.

Bernie:

M. President, we should be absolutely clear about who is most responsible for this looming crisis: Russian President Vladimir Putin. Having already seized parts of Ukraine in 2014, Putin now threatens to take over the entire country and destroy Ukrainian democracy. There should be no disagreement that this is unacceptable. In my view, we must unequivocally support the sovereignty of Ukraine and make clear that the international community will impose severe consequences on Putin and his fellow oligarchs if he does not change course.

With that said, M. President, I am extremely concerned when I hear the familiar drumbeats in Washington, the bellicose rhetoric that gets amplified before every war, demanding that we must "show strength," "get tough" and not engage in "appeasement." A simplistic refusal to recognize the complex roots of the tensions in the region undermines the ability of negotiators to reach a peaceful resolution.

I know it is not very popular in Washington to consider the perspectives of our adversaries, but I think it is important in formulating good policy.

I think it is helpful to consider this: One of the precipitating factors of this crisis, at least from Russia's perspective, is the prospect of an enhanced security relationship between Ukraine and the United States and Western Europe, including what Russia sees as the threat of Ukraine joining the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance (NATO), a military alliance originally created in 1949 to confront the Soviet Union.

It is good to know some history. When Ukraine became independent after the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, Russian leaders made clear their concerns about the prospect of former Soviet states becoming part of NATO and positioning hostile military forces along Russia's border. U.S. officials recognized these concerns as legitimate at the time.

One of those officials was William Perry, who served as Defense Secretary under President Bill Clinton. In a 2017 interview, Perry said and I quote, "In the last few years, most of the blame can be pointed at the actions that Putin has taken. But in the early years I have to say that the United States deserves much of the blame… "Our first action that really set us off in a bad direction was when NATO started to expand, bringing in eastern European nations, some of them bordering Russia."

Another U.S. official who acknowledged these concerns is former U.S. diplomat Bill Burns, who is now head of the CIA in the Biden administration. In his memoir, Burns quotes a memo he wrote while serving as counselor for political affairs at the US embassy in Moscow in 1995, and I quote: "Hostility to early NATO expansion is almost universally felt across the domestic political spectrum here."

Over ten years later, in 2008, Burns wrote in a memo to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and I quote "Ukrainian entry into NATO is the brightest of all redlines for the Russian elite (not just Putin)… In more than two and a half years of conversations with key Russian players… I have yet to find anyone who views Ukraine in NATO as anything other than a direct challenge to Russian interests."

So again: these concerns were not just invented out of thin air by Putin.

Clearly, invasion by Russia is not an answer; neither is intransigence by NATO.

woodenman said...

Canada liberated the world! It has spread to many countries and the fight for medical freedom has begun.

Aside from the first paragraph being totally wrong, Bernie at least sees reality clearly.

Invading countries is the job of the U.S. There is no reason for Russia to want Ukraine, the average wage is $6000 a year. They are just about a failed state and Russia would rather the U.S. support Ukraine than them.

If the U.S does not stop the warmongering the chance of a nuclear war is 100%

I was reading an article on AOL about how people that got Covid and thought they were fully recovered suddenly developed very serious heart problems.

This was predicted by Dr. Mercola and others almost two years ago. The side effects of the vaccines is a multitude of horrific health problems.

The insurance agencies are reporting huge losses due to an unprecedented rise in deaths that are not from Covid but from heart attacks, organ failures and cancers.

On a Liberal site Common Dreams, I tried to post a comment about how censorship about Covid and the vaccines lead to people not making informed decisions and I was banned for six months for being anti vaxx.

On AOL I tried to say that if people who are not vaxxed and recover from Covid without long term health problems then the vaccine is the cause. It was deleted.

I am very happy I am in the control group and hopefully the truth will come out if the sensorship gets dismantled somehow.

93000 excess deaths per month! I have read the death rate is very stable in the U.S. and this recent rise is scary.

As this story unfolds the vaccinated will be paying higher insurance rates in the future, it might not be made public but insurance companies do not like losing money.

Dave Dubya said...

Woody,
I won't ban you for being anti-vaxx. It is your choice. When they shut down traffic and choke the supply chain in a tantrum is when I have a real problem with them.

Are you claiming only vaccinated people have long covid?

Unfortunately long covid has shown to present more than heart problems.

You seem to have made the claim that only vaccinated people got long covid. That's not true.

Long covid is certainly present in unvaxxed people. We have known that covid's effects and symptoms cover a wide range, from cold-like, to pulmonary/organ impairment, to death.

AND we know the unvaxxed control group is dying at a far greater rate than the fully vaxxed.

If you contend this is not the case, and there is a vast conspiracy of lies from hospitals, and the CDC, Mayo Clinic, etc. you have an enormous burden of proof ahead of you.

It would be like proving Trump beat Biden.

And if the CDC is bent on deceit, then why do you trust only the self-reporting, un-scientific VAERS?

"VAERS reports alone generally cannot be used to determine if a vaccine caused or contributed to an adverse event or illness. Some reports may contain information that is incomplete, inaccurate, coincidental, or unverifiable. VAERS reports often lack contextual information, such as total vaccinations given or information on unvaccinated groups for comparison. Most reports to VAERS are voluntary, which means they may be subject to biases. Data from VAERS reports should always be interpreted with these limitations in mind."

We can paint ourselves into a corner with over-reliance on conspiracy theories and confirmation bias. We see this in the people who think US policy has nothing to do with military aggression, lies, and corporate interests.

My younger brother told me I was in a cult and brainwashed because I questioned hyroxychloroquine and his claim that "democrats just want us to stay home and die with no treatments".

Then he got furious with me for agreeing with Pelosi's censuring the Detroit Democrat who went to Trump to praise him for pushing hyroxychloroquine.

I asked for his medical expertise to explain she could only have recovered by taking HCQ, and not by her immune system. He got angry.

He also didn't know the difference between censor and censure.

But I'm the "brainwashed and stupid" person.

I learned to beware of debating those with "youtube medical degrees".

woodenman said...

I never said only vaccinated people get long Covid but if unvaccinated people recover and have far less long term problems then vaccines are adding to to problems.

"AND we know the unvaxxed control group is dying at a far greater rate than the fully vaxxed".

That is the funny part Dave, I do believe there is a conspiracy to hide negative effects of the vaccines. The money being made by hospitals and big pharma is unprecedented.

For the first time in America I and others do not have free speech. I am not allowed to question anything related to established Covid medical policies.

I cannot prove my side because any sources I can come up with you say are conspiracies in themselves.

But the wheel continues to turn and I am 100% confident you will be in full agreement with me in the future. I would even bet a large sum of money on that !

Dave Dubya said...

Woody,
Insurance rates ALWAYS go up.

I'm not sure what your point is. Are you attributing all those deaths to the vaccine?

"death rates are up 40% over what they were pre-pandemic"

Obviously death rates are higher from a pandemic. Not to mention those from a spike in opiate overdoses, and people who died from other causes by not going to the doctor or hospital due to the pandemic.

Life expectancy has declined in the US. It has not declined in countries with socialized healthcare that managed covid better, like Japan and Australia.

Who they hell are they?

I find no accreditation nor ownership for it and it is heavily biased to the Right.

And why doesn't their (Malone's) claim apply to countries with higher vax rates?

"Davison’s presentation drew the attention of Dr. Robert Malone, a virologist and immunologist and one of the pioneers of mRNA vaccine technology.

Malone said that, according to Davison’s data, the vast majority of the people who are dying are most likely fully vaccinated and boosted because they work under employer vaccine mandates.

“This suggests that these people that are under the insurance mandates have an enormously increased mortality rate compared to the general population,” said Malone."

"most likely" and "suggests" are neither facts nor evidence.

He admits:
“All you can do is generate hypotheses,” said Malone.

The rest is opinion:

“Nonetheless, there is no question that the federal policies are an abject failure, whether it is due to the vaccines, or it’s due to the suppression of early treatment, we have a massive, massive failure of public policy.”

"suppression of early treatment" is a symptom of our lack of socialized health care. So, yes that IS a failure of federal policy.

He's on the take or corrupted by someone by pushing non-scientific opinion.

They can't show vax related deaths happen more in higher vaccinated countries. That means they are lying to us.

Time to follow the money...

As I keep saying, SHOW THE EVIDENCE.

The Vaccine Scientist Spreading Vaccine Misinformation

And yet he does routinely slip into speculation that turns out to be misleading or, as in the segment on Bannon’s show, plainly false. For instance, he recently tweeted that, according to an unnamed “Israeli scientist,” Pfizer and the Israeli government have an agreement not to release information about adverse effects for 10 years, which is hard to believe given that the country’s health ministry has already warned of a link between the Pfizer shot and rare cases of myocarditis. Malone’s LinkedIn account has twice been suspended for supposedly spreading misinformation.

Malone contracted COVID-19 in February 2020, and later got the Moderna vaccine in hopes that it would alleviate his long-haul symptoms. Now he believes the injections made his symptoms worse: He still has a cough and is dealing with hypertension and reduced stamina, among other maladies. “My body will never be the same,” he told me. In media appearances, he often notes that he has colleagues in the government and at universities who agree with him and are privately cheering him on. I spoke with several of these people—vaccine scientists and biotech consultants, suggested by Malone himself— and that is not what they told me. The portrait they paint of Malone is of an insightful researcher who can be headstrong. They related accounts of him, pre-pandemic, getting booted from projects because he was hard to communicate with and unwilling to compromise. (Malone has acknowledged his penchant for butting heads with fellow scientists.) And they are taken aback by his emergence as a vaccine skeptic. One called his eagerness to appear on less-than-reputable podcasts “naive,” while another said he thought Malone’s public rhetoric had “migrated from extrapolated assertions to sensational assertions.” Stan Gromkowski, a cellular immunologist who did work on mRNA vaccines in the early 1990s and views Malone as an underappreciated pioneer, put it this way: “He’s fucking up his chances for a Nobel Prize.”

It’s only in the curious world of fringe media that Malone has found the platform, and the recognition, he’s sought for so long. He talks to hosts who aren’t going to question whether he’s the brains behind the Pfizer and Moderna shots. They’re not going to quibble over whether credit should be shared with co-authors, or talk about how science is like a relay race, or point out that, absent the hard work of brilliant researchers who came before and after Malone, there would be no vaccine. He’s an upgrade over their typical guest list of chiropractors and naturopaths, and they’re perfectly happy to address him by the title he believes he’s earned: inventor of the mRNA vaccines.

The irony is that, to the audiences who tune in to those shows, the vaccines are seen as a scourge rather than a godsend. No matter how nuanced Malone might try to be, or how many qualifiers he appends to his opinions, he is egging on vaccine hesitancy at a time when hospitals in the least-vaccinated parts of the country are struggling to cope with an influx of new COVID-19 patients. If you want proof of that, scroll through the many comments from his followers thanking him for confirming their fears. Malone has finally made his mark, by undermining confidence

The guy spoke some truth, but left out the basic reality of the US being an empire in decline, but still clinging to the economic imperialism it has exerted through NATO.

The US doesn't give a damn about defending democracy, it's all about the money.

None dare say capitalism is to blame.

Another example of increased death rates that have nothing to do with vaccinations.
~~~
The National Highway Safety Administration reports crashes — and deaths — began surging in the summer of 2020, surprising traffic experts who had hoped that relatively empty roads would cause accidents to decline. Instead, an increase in aggressive driving more than made up for the decline in driving. And crashes continued to increase when people returned to the roads, later in the pandemic.
Per capita vehicle deaths rose 17.5 percent from the summer of 2019 to last summer, according to a New York Times analysis of federal data. It is the largest two-year increase since just after World War II.
It looks like the increase in the death rate is unprecedented, I think you have to go back to WWII to have something similar. 93,000 extra deaths per month is huge, traffic fatalities is a drop in the bucket.
There are three types of VERS systems existing, one in the U.S. one covering all of Europe and one for the military.
The one in Europe and the military is closed to the public. All three have 100s of thousands of deaths and injuries that started with the vaccine rollout. All three have been recording deaths and injuries for decades and the statistical evidence is building by the day and will do so until it is irrefutable.
I read somewhere that the military VERS system showed such an amazing jump in medical problems in the last two years that they just scrubbed all the data and replaced it recently.
Young fit males do not become invalids or die in great numbers but they do now.
Vaccine related deaths may also be a drop in the bucket. No numbers are given.
Anti-vax sites like the one linked is suggesting without evidence that vaccines are the primary cause. It is also interesting they cite epoch times, a Q-Anon ally.
COVID caused about 42% of excessive deaths.
Per capita vehicle deaths rose 17.5 percent. Hardly a drop in the bucket.
CDC reports: Provisional data from CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics indicate that there were an estimated 100,306 drug overdose deaths in the United States during 12-month period ending in April 2021, an increase of 28.5% from the 78,056 deaths during the same period the year before.
Who knows how many increased deaths from home accidents occurred due to the lockdown?
Anti-vax cites have one agenda. Objectivity isn't one. Fear of vaccinations is the dominant theme. Remember, correlation does not imply causation. Anti-vaxxers seem uninterested in this reasoning.
The CDC reports myocarditis is far more likely from covid than the vaccine.
Joe Rogan was proved wrong with that fact during a webcast.
"Young fit males do not become invalids or die in great numbers but they do now."
Obviously you blame the vaccine, and dismiss increased deaths by traffic accidents, overdoses and covid (5,581 age 18-29 in US).
Where is the evidence of over 5,000 deaths by vaccine in ages 18-29 in the US?
If your case is the vaccine is more deadly than covid, you have a lot of work to find supporting evidence.
The Anti Vaxx movement is world wide and then there is the dirty dozen, Mercola and 11 other doctors who publish articles every day documenting the dangers of the vaccines.
You support MSM in discrediting the narrative but millions of people are not crazy. You know the old saying, Where there is smoke there is fire.
Big Pharma is planning many new vaccines for 2022 and 2023 because they are getting incredibly wealthy. Trusting them is crazy as evidenced by all the lawsuits and lawyers going after them for dangerous drugs for decades.
Suing Big Pharma is going to make the tobacco payouts looks like pocket change.
Millions believe Biden stole the election from Trump. Millions deny the fact of global warming. Millions say the vaccine is deadlier than covid.
There's a lot of money in passing lies and misinformation. And Republicans are the reason why.
Millions are wrong. Doctors are wrong. Just because there are doctors who say smoking doesn't cause lung cancer doesn't mean smoking doesn't cause lung cancer. Just because there are scientists who there's no global warming doesn't mean there's no global warming.
And doctors certainly can be wrong, which is why we depend on peer-reviewed science and clear consensus.
Thanks to Republicans and corpo-dems Big Pharma does get away with gouging Americans. The FDA is supposed to regulate them, but it has been infiltrated by corporate insiders, but is not as corrupt as the Big Pharma, yet. We still have to take their word over corporate PR.
This is what needs to be changed. But again, Republicans...
It is a fact ALL drugs can be dangerous. But is that a reason to eliminate all of them?
Shall we tell cancer patients, "Sorry, we'll have to discontinue your pain meds. They can kill you and cause addiction"?
If you are stating the vaccine is more deadly than the virus, show the evidence.
This is all I have been asking.
The White kid was standing over and beating the Black kid on the ground.
The cops intervened and sat the white kid aside, and pinned the Black kid down and cuffed him.
This is exactly what systemic racism in law enforcement looks like.
Video showing police breaking up a fight between a Black teen and a White teen in a New Jersey mall prompts outrage
(CNN )A video showing police officers breaking up a fight between a Black teenager and a White teenager at a New Jersey mall has prompted outrage over the police response.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said Wednesday that the "appearance of what is racially disparate treatment is deeply, deeply disturbing."
...Attorney Ben Crump, who is representing the family, said officials haven't given him any information on why Kye was handcuffed.
"Why is it the Black kid is presumed guilty and the White kid is presumed innocent," Crump said. "The Black kid is put face down with a knee in his back and the White kid was allowed to sit on the couch and observe him being humiliated?"
...The New Jersey Attorney General's office also said in statement Wednesday that they are working closely with the prosecutor's office on the investigation. "The SPCO will follow the Attorney General's Office's strict guidelines and procedures for investigating possible misconduct, and to ensure transparency and accountability," a spokesperson said.
