"The Supreme Court betrayed Black voters, they betrayed America, and they betrayed our democracy."- Barack Obama
Before I proceed with my rant, let’s start with some insight from historian and
fascism expert Ruth Ben Ghiat:
Elections as Tools of Autocracy and White Supremacy
In the 21st century, we have a proliferation of electoral autocracies, or countries with strongman leaders who keep a semblance of democracy going (opposition parties and, sometimes, a degree of independent media), including by holding elections. In a separate essay, I will analyze the bag of tricks autocrats deploy to turn elections to their advantage, including invalidating the will of the people by removing already-elected officials from their offices.
The central point here is that in 2026, the aim of “competitive authoritarianism” is to take away competition: to take the “fair” out of free and fair elections, while redefining freedom as a liberation from the corruption and chaos of democracy. During his 2024 campaign, Donald Trump described the act of voting to his Evangelical Christian followers as a kind of burden he would free them from. “In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote,” he promised them.
Authoritarianism in all its forms depends on people acting against their own interests, in this case seeing the abdication of agency and giving up of rights as something positive, as almost a relief. Let the leader decide for you! Let the leader, who is an agent of divine providence, decide your destiny! Getting people to believe this is one of the main functions of personality cults that depict the leader as infallible.
Of course, propaganda is not enough to “fix” the problem of voting. That is why autocrats work hard to achieve “autocratic capture” and have the courts, the media, and other institutions retooled to reflect the ideologies, priorities, and methods of the autocrat and his partners.
This is where the Supreme Court decision fits in. By striking down a key element of the Voting Rights Act, the Court has once again made itself the vehicle of the crusade to end American democracy as we know it. “Justices” such as Clarence Thomas (“Corrupted by Billionaires, Including Harlan Crow, Who Has a Garden of Dictator Statues”) and Samuel Alito (“Flew Insurrectionist Flags At His Homes”) act like far-right political operatives. Both long ago jettisoned democratic ideas of conflicts of interest and judicial impartiality.
Giving immunity to a head of state who incited a violent mob against Republican and Democratic lawmakers on January 6, 2021, was one blow to our democracy; legitimizing practices designed to disenfranchise Black voters is another.
Undoing Our Multiracial Democracy So That White Supremacy Can Prevail
Every authoritarian state has a central ideological pillar and fixation. In America, the retooling of institutions to serve autocracy and the fanatical desire to remake the country in the image of White Christian nationalism go hand in hand. I have written repeatedly about the ongoing war on Blacks, and how Donald Trump from 2016 on has made himself the protector of every kind of racist, from neo-Nazis to those who hate immigrants and religious minorities to people who never really accepted the end of Jim Crow and the democratic doctrine of racial equality.
This
is why Trump continues his attacks on the Obamas ten years after they left the
White House. The very idea of a Black man as president must be “undone” in the
public mind.
Democracy Docket founder Marc Elias warns: “Not only was the Supreme Court's Callais
decision cynical and wrong, it has now resulted in the Republican governor of
Louisiana declaring state of emergency to cancel the ongoing congressional
election. If you think this ends in Louisiana or with redistricting, you are
not paying attention.”
Reviving Institutional Racism
These are indeed the glory days for 21st Century American racists and “Christian” nationalists. Their white privileged minority rule has just become set in concrete; thanks to the serial criminal they TWICE installed into the Oval Office.
White Christian Nationalists have their racist criminal president. They own Congress. And they own the Supreme Court, abetted by their token black White Nationalist. They have won their decades-long engineered coup by taking control of the legislative, judicial, and executive branches of our federal government. Now their corruption and rampaging abuses of power are overwhelming our ability to even keep track. Every day more cons, grifts, inside deals, extortions, cronyism, and nepotism come to light. But not to justice.
I won’t mince words. Their long-term damage is more than likely fatal to our constitutionally weakened democracy, already undermined by the corrupt Supreme Court, antiquated electoral college, and anti-democratic and disproportional power in the Senate.
This weakness was exacerbated by an American electorate that was too racist, ignorant, misogynistic, and apathetic to vote against a second Trump presidency. A qualified woman of color was spurned in favor of a racist, corrupt, lying, indicted criminal and conman. This isn’t difficult to understand, considering enough racist, ignorant, misogynistic, and apathetic Americans rejected a qualified moderate white woman in favor of the racist pathological liar ten years ago.
Americans opened the door to the formation of a corrupt, highly partisan, white Christian nationalist Supreme Court. Americans didn’t learn from their demolition of women’s reproductive rights. They didn’t learn from the Court’s authoritarian decree of “presidential immunity”, demanded by the indicted Criminal President.
And there’s no reason to think they will learn from the destruction of Roe v Wade, fabricated presidential immunity that eliminated equal justice under law, and now the gutting of the Voting Rights Act. Gerrymandering by white Republicans has been greenlighted. Gerrymandering by Democrats for fair representation for African Americans has been virtually outlawed.
The racist majority on the Supreme Court has all but assured a white Republican Congress and presidency far into the future. The Louisiana v. Callais decision is nothing less than wholesale election rigging for the benefit of the Republican Party.
As the rights of Americans are falling like dominoes, the increasingly authoritarian Republican Party will continue to lock our country down into a white nationalist, antidemocratic tyranny under minority rule.
MAYBE enough Americans will be motivated to vote for a Democratic congressional majority this year after Trump’s recession arrives and bleeds our wallets dry. But remember this. Trump and his evil henchmen will do everything they can to control, disrupt, and deny the next two elections.
Election interference is already well under way. From Reuters:
In January, a DHS agent sought unredacted voter records and voter registration information from Franklin County, Ohio, without explaining the basis for the request. Reuters found similar federal requests for voter data, access to voting machines or revived fraud investigations in at least eight states, including Nevada, Colorado, Michigan and Missouri, often tied to claims previously rejected by courts.
There’s the very real threat of massive voter intimidation by armed ICE agents stationed at Democratic leaning polling places.
I’m afraid I can see this evil dictatorship going for another 10 years at least. The next two elections will face every obstruction and authoritarian measure Trump, ICE, and SCOTUS impose on them, likely including inciting mass disorder and canceling the elections by declaring a state of emergency. He won't leave willingly. Sorry to be such a downer, but the arc of justice has been bent towards an arc of tyranny. If they win the next two elections this coup will extend indefinitely.
The forces of white nationalist tyranny, abetted by corporate and oligarchic interests, are expanding their control over the former mainstream news media, making it even more difficult for American voters to have access to vital information. The post-truth era is upon us and the tyrants and oligarchs are more than adept at using every tool of disinformation it to consolidate power.
President Biden’s plan for Supreme Court reform will never be revived as long as MAGA racists dominate our congress and high court. He knew what needed to be done by suggesting a constitutional amendment to “make clear that there is no immunity for crimes a former president committed while in office.” The court’s recent decision last month in Trump v. United States, Biden wrote, “means there are virtually no limits on what a president can do.” But the United States, Biden stressed, “was founded on a simple yet profound principle: No one is above the law.”
At the behest of the Criminal President the
Alito Court terminated our quaint notion carved into the portico of the Supreme
Court building. “Equal Justice Under Law” is no longer an American ideal.
I don’t want to be the negative grumpy guy at the party, but the chances for needed reform are rapidly slipping away.
It’s come down to this. Democrats can only hope to reverse the destruction of the remnants of our democracy by winning a supermajority, with DC statehood and expanded SCOTUS. This will require unified and disciplined messaging that seems almost impossible for them. It’s reasonable to presume there are always going to be the Sinemas, Manchins, and Fettermans to drag them down.
More than ever, we need younger American voters to turn out in record numbers. We also need millions of older Americans to wake up and smell the tyranny.
I won't hold my breath because I honestly don't expect to live long enough see a free and remotely democratic republic again. I'm afraid the American people will suffer through austerity and privation before real change can happen.
However,
I will not abandon hope that younger Americans will learn from the ongoing
debacle and impending collapse of what we once had, and they realize what needs
to be done. It will be up to them to drive the final stake through the fetid
heart of Trumpism.

So how are you celebrating this most Holy day of liberalism?
Gee, Bob.
That's a STUPID question filled with malevolent insinuation.
IF you read my post, you'd have your answer. I am patriotically defending our republic and warning fellow Americans of the tyranny and racism being imposed on us by the racists and fascists you support.
IF you want to add anything, I suggest you man up and dare to take on what I have written. Challenge your ability to engage in rational discussion.
If all you have is more deflection and bullshit, there's no reason for me to allow it in this discussion.
Capisce?
Anonymous,
I read your MAGA cult bullshit.
Your lengthy comment was deleted because it had nothing to do with the topic I am presenting.
Anyone who posts as Anonymous will have to address what I have written.

This country is finished as a ratonal liberal democratic republic. Unless decent honorable white folks stand with all people of color and all spiritual traditions in defiance of the tyrannical fascist regime and party of trump now in power.
Defiance with the will to fight is what will be neccessry to ultimately defeat the A-holes of the scotus and the MAGA party of Christian Nationalists and white supremacy.
Trump is a racist, the scotus is racist, the republican party is racist and the A-holes now control everything to make America a true third world shithole of fascist tyranny.
With deteriorating infrastructure, education, Healthcare, purchasing ability, and an increase in war spending the better days of this nation finished.
We are a declining and now corrupt empire soon to collapse under the weight of its own ignorance.
Thanks to the ignorant malignant narcissist and the hate of MAGAts he has seeded the government and courts with.
But we'll have a big beautiful ballroom, lots of banners of the malignant narcissist, and a crushing debt that will crush middle America and the working poor going forward.
It's sickening and pathetic.
DD, did i touch a raw nerve when I asked what you were going to do for MayDay? When will you man up and tell us what your May Day plans are? Since you control any and everything posted on this site why should I answer anything you ask? If you don't like what I said you will delete it anyway.
Tyrant!
Bob,
So why should I answer you? Take your double standards and shove them where the sun doesn't shine.
Don't be such an arrogant, rude, and entitled asshole.
Since when have YOU answered any of my questions?
I don't OWE you any answers unrelated to my post. You didn't even understand that I DID answer your stupid question!
IF you read my post, you'd have your answer. I am patriotically defending our republic and warning fellow Americans of the tyranny and racism being imposed on us by the racists and fascists you support.
If you're too intellectually weak to discuss the topic don't come back.
Maybe you should start your own blog, and see how you treat people who deflect from the topic to interrogate YOU.
Liberals saving DEMOCRACY? Really? Who ran against Harris in the Democratic primary for President? She was appointed by the Party. Liberal Democrats saving our democracy is a LIE.
Bob is a real titan of intellectual deprivation. Must have received the same higher education as his cult messiah trump.
Bob,
When will you learn? (Never, I'm sure.)
Trump is clearly attacking voter rights and democracy with his order for states to gerrymander in his favor. His toadies on the Supreme Court just made it virtually illegal for redistricting for African Americans while allowing for white Republicans.
When Blacks lose representation, that's called suppressing democracy, fool.
More information your willful ignorance can't process:
Biden won their primary and endorsed Kamala. She was selected at the Democratic Convention, JUST LIKE EVERY ELECTION UP TO 1972!
Primaries only existed from 52 years ago at the time.
Are you saying there was no democracy from 1776 to 1972?
Got something else stupid to say?
Bob's never been the sharpest knife in the drawer.
But he THINKS he knows more than people far more intelligent and educated than he is.
It's the classic Dunning Kruger Effect. Like Trump saying, "I'm better than everybody at everything".
The idiot actually tried to brag that he could become an astronaut! LOL!
And so could Bob, amirite?
Anonymous wanted show us more ignorance by saying, "Communism/ socialism/ Progressiveism does more harm than good for the Real American working people".
Imagine being so stupid as to not understand those terms and their differences.
He must see "communists" under his bed. LOL!
Doe he know corporations suck up more welfare dollars than citizens?
Corporations, as well as red conservative MAGA states, soak up most of the federal welfare dollars.
Modern American Capitalism is the engine of consummate l greed directed to the welfare if the greediest among us.
Karl Marx, before his utopian side track was absolutely correct. trump and billionaire sycophants prove it daily.
DD, are you really this stupid ? Who ran against Harris in the Democratic primary for President? In a real democracy Harris would have had an opponent for the people to vote for.
But they didn't.
She was appointed, not elected. There was no election. Are you saying Biden appointed her, like a KING?
I'll ask again Who ran against Harris in the Democratic primary for President?
So much for the DNC "saving democracy.
Bob.
What would you beat if you didn't have a dead horse?
Party primaries do not make a democracy. They didn't exist throughout most of our history.
But go ahead, beat your dead horse. Just don't expect me to waste space here for it.
You used the term "real democracy".
Does that mean racists gerrymandering Black districts out of representation so they can have a whiter Congress?
I'll assume that's what you mean, unless you make the effort to use your brain and tell us what you think real democracy is.
If you define that term, I'll share it. Otherwise we don't want to hear from you.
America has NEVER been a true democracy. We are, at least in principle, a Democratic Republic. We elect 535 representative and 100 senators that represent the people and states.
Of course, given the plethora of lobbying groups who buy the votes of our elected representatives and senators, as well as the undemocratic gerrymandering of districts we are not even a true Democratic republic anymore.
Billy of course bob, in his infinite wisdom likely doesn't understand this either.
Bob... what would any party do if the candidate who won the primaries, in this case, Biden, became incapacitated? By law, the parties have a right to choose their candidates any way they choose. That's what the DNC did.
A better question is this... The GOP had a chance to get a smart, reasonable and coherent candidate in Nikki Hayley in the primaries. Yet they, and I assume you, chose a candidate swiftly failing and who frequently posts racist memes, started a war with Iran with no stated coherent reason for doing so, lied about reducing gas and food prices and is indiscriminately bombing people in the Atlantic.
To say nothing of his of deportations which a majority of Americans do not want to see when it involves regular everyday people living peacefully next door.
So I ask you... which party ran an incoherent candidate in failing health who has to be administered cognitive tests to assure his sanity? And which party ran a candidate who says it is okay for people to brutally beat US Capitol Police Officers and does not know who won the 2020 election?
Just a few simple questions Bob... can you answer them?
I'll give you a hint... just rearrange the letters... POG
Dube, This whole racist issue is a standard response from the left to deflect and question they don't like.
Maybe if the left picked a reasonable, competent candidate they could have won. Instead the pick someone who was massively defeated in a democrat primary and they expected her to win. Now that she lost against a convicted felon the dems cry racism. The democrats traded an incompetent candidate with an incompetent candidate.
Skud,
Obviously you believe the white nationalist lie that racism is not a problem anymore is this country. (Unless the "victims" happen to be white.)
This country was built on racism, from agriculture to slaves used to build the White House and Capitol.
Slavery was a racist institution.
Jim Crow was racist suppression of African Americans' right to vote and equal justice under law.
What makes you think a systemic effort to deny representation and disenfranchise ONLY Black voters isn't also a racist tactic?
The "left" didn't pick the candidate. Democrats did. Of course racists, bigots, and misogynists would never accept a woman of color as competent, would they?
By every standard the Criminal President has proven to be incompetent, evil, corrupt, immoral, dishonest, and cruel.
It's not Kamala's fault millions of Americans are just too gullible, ignorant, immoral, and racist to vote against a criminal who tried to overturn an election he lost and pardons his thugs and henchmen.
They reveal the darkness of the American soul. The same darkness that allowed slavery and genocide of indigenous tribes in the first place.
This is a country in regression, vainly trying to return to white dominance. This is exactly why a policy of barbaric mass deportation with concentration camps is cheered, no matter how non-violent and productive immigrants and their children have been.
Dube,
I never said racism is not a problem anymore. What I did say is the left deflects to the racism argument whenever they don't like something being said. BTW, Jim Crowe was a law put through by democrats and yes it was intended to stifle black voters.
I have yet to see evidence that anyone is being denied the right to vote. I do support ID to vote but anyone can get a valid ID at no cost so that argument is the "racist" argument that isn't valid.
In case you hadn't noticed people on the left are democrats so yes the democrats picked Kamala. The democrats must have been racists because in a democrat primary she didn't get one candidate. She was such a great candidate she dropped out of the presidential race a few weeks into the run. As VP she was assigned to head up the border. She did such a great job with the border that she was assigned gun violence ad spent over a billion dollars to lose.
Granted trump is a horrible choice and not one I supported and his win shows what an incompetent choice the democrats made. He has accomplished reducing the crossing of uninvited people. We wouldn't have mass deportations if the biden/harris team didn't allow millions in with their open border policy.
We need to have a better choice in 2028 but that probably won't happen because it is all about control and money.
Funny thing about racism, a racist never sees themselves as a racist. And will always attempt to turn the tables on those who see through their facade.
"Party primaries do not make a democracy."
What a crock.
Tell us what you believe makes a democracy.
Skud,
Are you deliberately ignoring my question?
It appears you have no understanding of my post.
What makes you think a systemic effort to deny representation and disenfranchise ONLY Black voters isn't also a racist tactic?
The Democratic Party is no longer the party of Jim Crow, in case you haven't been paying attention. Those were CONSERVATIVE Southern racists. They are ALL MAGA NOW!
"I have yet to see evidence that anyone is being denied the right to vote."
This is telling us you HAVENT LOOKED! But it's just another of your DEFLECTIONS. My point was about Blacks LOSING REPESENTATION!!!
I think you are deliberately DEFLECTING from my points.
And "As VP she was assigned to head up the border" is a 100% bullshit Republican lie.
You can't support this with evidence, but insist on regurgitating it. I understand there's no point in providing the facts about her actual assignment because you will DISMISS and IGNORE them anyway.
And what the hell makes you think Trump wouldn't be deporting thousands had Biden shut down the border? 10 million were already here in 2020! I'm sure you'll IGNORE that number under Trump's first term, too.
It's the CRUELTY you seem to condone.
Bob, Bob, Bob,
Why are you AFRAID of good faith discussion? You demand answers from me, while REFUSING to provide any of your own.
That's just plain RUDE, Bob.
Why are you AFRAID of addressing my request and "tell us what you think real democracy is"? YOU USED THAT TERM! Now DEFINE IT!!
If not, you're just proving you're incapable of forming a rational cogent thought.
In either case, there's no reason to allow more of your bullshit here.
Either contribute to the discussion or bug off.
Les,
Speaking of Skud, have you noticed the similarities between him and Bob?
Folks who religiously support the republican (trumpublican) party's beliefs and agenda are all similar. Truth, integrity, and common decency have become negative attributes to them since their allegiance to a malignant narcissist and pathological liar trump.
well Skud... of course your statement... "anyone can get a valid ID at no cost..." Here are a few facts related to costs...
The SAVE Act requires voters provide Documentary Proof of Citizenship (DPOC) to register for federal elections. While the bill requires states to establish an "alternative process" for those who lack these documents, it does not explicitly guarantee that a valid ID will be provided to everyone at no cost.
Document Costs: A standard U.S. passport costs at least $165, and a passport card costs $65. Replacing a naturalization certificate can cost over $1,300.
Birth Certificates: While many states provide voter IDs for free to those who qualify, the underlying "foundational" documents needed to get them—like a certified birth certificate—typically cost between $10 and $50.
Most common IDs, including standard driver's licenses and even most REAL IDs, do not satisfy the Act's requirements on their own because they do not explicitly indicate citizenship status.
Now Skud... if the ACT provided a simple National ID Card to every US citizen upon their 18th birthday, and that was the sole document needed for voter ID, I'm sure the Dems would support it.
Look, the SAVE Act is designed to solve a non existent problem, perhaps a potential problem. Given it's not a problem yet, but could be in the future, what's the rush? Why can't Congress take their time and get it right? Why sacrifice accuracy and good policy for speed?
I reckon there's a reason there some might not want to hear. Because all the SAVE Act will do in either the 2026 or 2028 elections is rush through a flawed law that will mostly disenfranchise voters of all stripes, Dem and GOP ppl alike.
Democracy is a form of Gov where the power is vested with the people.
Now DD, you've been ducking answering my question from my first post in this thread. WHY?
DD, tell us what you believe makes a democracy.
Bob,
Good for you!
"In a real democracy Harris would have had an opponent for the people to vote for."
To be clear, Harris did have Trump as an opponent, as democracy allows. Unfortunately too many Americans decided a liar and criminal was fit to lead the country. He certainly FAILED in his promises for lower prices and no more wars, didn't he?
Now let's exercise your brain by examining an actual definition of democracy.
Merriam-Webster
Democracy: 1a: government by the people especially rule of the majority
b: a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and
exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation
usually involving periodically held free elections
Here is where the US fails as a democracy. Hey, slave owners at the time didn't want everyone to have the right to vote did they? They wanted an antidemocratic system that gave them an electoral advantage.
The first Trump Administration is the consequence. It was minority rule.
Just as today Republicans and their partisan pals on the Supreme Court don't want Black people to have representation, they are allowing Republicans to gerrymander their districts freely, while prohibiting Democrats to redistrict fair representation for Blacks.
Republicans love to say the US isn't a democracy, but is to the degree a candidate with the most votes wins. But the slave owners in our past didn't want it that way. They wanted an electoral system where they could count slaves for representation, but without the right to vote.
Now Republicans want to deny African Americans the representation they have won. This falls short of being both a democracy and a republic.
It is systemic racism that denies them representation. If you remember, lack of representation is the reason Americans rebelled against King George III.
Republicans HATE democracy. Bottom line.
The US is currently a kleptocracy run by kakistocrats.
We are no longer a functioning successful democratic republic.
The trumptoids of the trumpublican cult have effectively won the day.
For now anyway.
Dube, Over a billion dollars spent to get kamala elected and she looses to a criminal. That does say what a popular candidate she was when even her party turned against her.
Maybe next time the DNC will pick a decent candidate since their last two women candidates we failures and they both lost to the same person.
Skud,
Biden blew it when he broke his promise to serve one term.
It's not Kamala's fault millions of stupid Americans didn't show up to vote for her while millions of racists and duped voters showed up for Trump. Many are deeply regretting that now, as Trump broke his promises and raises the cost of living and started a war.
Hillary lost due to the flawed antidemocratic electoral system. Remember she WON the popular vote, but the will of the people was crushed by rules imposed by slave states. SHE didn't fail, but was FAILED by our weak democracy.
It seems clear that republicans (now trumpublicans) are concerned only about party loyalty and insuring white privilege and racism remain the centerpieces of Amerikan government and culture.
Folks like skud point to it daily in their posts.
Skud... IMO, either one of those women would have run a much better admin than what we have. We probably would not be at war with Iran and we certainly would not have had 130 US officers brutally beaten on J6. I bet the 9 million ppl who now cannot afford health insurance would still be covered under Obamacare, and chances are there would've been no talk of taking over Greenland or making Canada our 51st state.
They were both standard, mainstream candidates. But they were both terrible at campaigning. Trump has been a terrific candidate, but a terrible president.
Were either Hillary or Kamala perfect? Not at all. But either one would have been way better than a proven criminal in the Oval.
Now, who's responsible for putting him in office? It's not the candidate. It's the people who voted in the criminal, voted in people to support him, and the people who to this day, publicly support him day in and day out around America.
Here's the irony Dave... many of the people, religious conservatives, who supported Trump because of one thing, the abortion issue, aren't even aware at this point, other than the SCOTUS, he doesn't even give lip service to that issue. And certainly does not support efforts to ban abortion nationwide.
Why is that?
Dave Dubya's Freedom Rants is now composed of 3 different people Dumb Dave Dubya, hie Puppet Les, and some “Token “ FIGTIVOUS MAGA NAMED BOB.
This blog has turned inu a Shit Rsg
Funny how being call dumb by someone who writes like this is actually a compliment. The perfect example of the poorly educated, semiliterate voice of a MAGA.
Dave,
Since abortion is no longer their motivation for supporting Trump, that reveals the real motivation for "Christian" white nationalists. It's aways been about their uptight bigotry and racism.
After all, Jesus never mentioned abortion, pre-marital sex, homosexuality, sodomy, transgenderism, masturbation, or racial resentments. They have to pretend he condemned everything they hate or makes them uncomfortable.
He DID condemn mistreatment of immigrants, hate, violence, war, capital punishment, hypocrisy, and cruelty, but since they're fans of all of that stuff, they can conveniently and easily ignore all that compassion for the hungry, homeless, poor and sick.
Dube, So it is bidens fault because he didn't quit, it is the republicans fault because not enough democrats supported kamala, it is the system that has been in place since 1787 fault that the -H- lost. Maybe instead of a failed system stopping the DNC you could get the DNC to do what it will take to win the big seat.
Dave, Your opinion that kamala would have been better than trump is your opinion. Trump is not a competent president because he can't run from his ego but kamala, IMHO, would have been worse. After all she supported everything biden did and he was proven to be an incompetent old guy.
Skud,
Yes, Harris blew it when she failed to separate her vision from Biden's record.
He was successful in passing some productive legislation, that you always ignore BTW, but she should have recognized his blunders on immigration and admit it was a problem. That alone could be why she lost, just as Comey's interference resulted in Hillary's defeat.
It's foolish and shallow to dismiss the roots, injustice and built in inequality of the electoral system. It's another poisonous legacy of slavery and needs to go. But amending the Constitution is no longer feasible, which is also a tragic failure in our experiment as a democratic republic.
Conservatism is easier to defend than progressivism is to enact. It's rigged for the Right from the get go. Now we're moving backwards to Jim Crow and its obstruction of Black representation.
Just because you can't criticize Republicans doesn't mean I can't criticize Democrats.
They tend to bring knives to gun fights. They shun their left wing. They embrace corporate and AIPAC campaign funding. In other words they have ossified. They failed to emphasize J6 and Trump's criminality, etc.
I think they're learning they need to listen to people over pundits and lobbyists. They need to work for the people, not for donors. Everybody needs or will need healthcare. If they just keep advocating for universal public healthcare it would be a winning issue. There's no sane reason for insurance CEO middlemen to come between a patient and their doctor.
It wouldn't hurt for them to campaign on ending tax cuts for billionaires at the expense of food and medical care for the poor.
But lies spread faster than facts, don't they?
When one continually sings the praises of the rightwing conservative agenda, with both eyes and ears closed to evidence to the contrary and the truth, it's called unfounded reified beliefs.
MAGAs swim in it daily and with gusto. A cult is a cult is a cult, and MAGA is most definitely the biggest national cult ever.
Dave, maybe the above anonymous person is the living, breathing three fingered vulgarian?
You say, "So why should I answer you? Take your double standards and shove them where the sun doesn't shine.
Don't be such an arrogant, rude, and entitled asshole."
Look in the Mirror once in a while, and you'll see that YOU are exactly what you said above! Including being an ASSHOLE!
Ok, Bob. If you say so.
It's not like YOU have to show any evidence or justification for your bullshit, or be decent enough to answer questions. That only goes one way in your mirror. You disregard and disrespect any answer or point I make. And you want to call me an asshole...
It's called PROJECTION, Bob.
Gotta love them cult enthusiasts. Projection is at the top of their proficiency list.
I can only imagine Kamala dealing with Iran right now!
And by the way Please Stick It WHERE THE SUN DOESN'T SHINE YOURSELF.
Bob,
Do you mean Kamala would have kept Trump's "no more wars" promise, that he FAILED to honor?
Or do you mean something like the way Obama dealt with Iran that provided for them to surrender 90% of their enriched uranium and to shut down weapons program with no cost to human life and $billions of our tax dollars, only to have Trump KILL THE AGREEMENT?
Iran agreed to constrain its nuclear program by limiting fuel cycle activities that could lead to the production of weapons-grade uranium or plutonium. The JCPOA restricted the number and type of centrifuges in operation, the level of uranium enrichment, and the size of Iran's enriched uranium stockpile. Key facilities at Fordow, Natanz and Arak were repurposed for civilian uses such as medical and industrial research. Iran agreed to accept more intrusive IAEA monitoring measures of its fuel-cycle related activities.
Under the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran surrendered or diluted over 97% of its stockpile, reducing it from roughly 10,000 kg to 300 kg of low-enriched uranium. Additionally, Iran shipped approximately 25,000 pounds of enriched uranium out of the country and removed the core from its heavy water reactor
Iran advanced its nuclear program after Trump’s decision to pull out of the agreement in his first term.
Got something smart to say now, Bob?
Come on, Bob. Man up and show us how Trump is dealing with Iran better than Obama's international agreement he CANCELLED.
You DO want to sound intelligent, don't you, Bob? Give it a try. Show us the range of your cerebral capacity.
Response exactly as anticipated.
Iran is winning an asymmetrical war with the ignorant and highly deluded trump.
And America? We'll be paying dearly for the ignorance and hate trump and his sidekick the butcher netanyahu has unleashed on Iran. A nation whi A) never wanted nuclear capabilities in the first place and B) was comply with the agreement it signed with a true president President Obama. Until the ignorant malignant narcissist trump tore up the functioning and effective agreement.
The two greatest evils and threat to world peace, stability, and prosperity are the butcher netanyahu and his malignant narcissist twin trump.
America is a declining Empire and trump, with the help of his sycophant trumpublican party and his gross ignorance and seething stupidity has simply increased the rapidity in which it will happen.
I leave it to you Bobby to prove me wrong. Preferably with credible and substantial evidence to the contrary.
Faux Snooze and OAN does not count as credible sources. They are part of the fascist propaganda network supporting trump's ignorance abd delusions.
It's your turn Bobby, GO!
Dave... here's some of the language from the actual JCPOA to which Iran agreed and which was approved by and backed up by the US, the EU, Russia, China and the UK. Part iii. is the main point Trump hopes to get Iran to agree to... again!
ii. The full implementation of this JCPOA will ensure the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear programme.
iii. Iran reaffirms that under no circumstances will Iran ever seek, develop or
acquire any nuclear weapons.
Now, in my conversations with people who support Trump and other MAGA craziness, when I point this out, they answer with Iran isn't trustworthy and wasn't with Obama. But will be with Trump.
When asked what's different, all they say is Trump is different.
Iran has been, as Sec State Rubio has pointed out, lying for for 47 years. Why will they now suddenly become truthful, trustworthy people?
Maybe Baghdad Bob can tell us.
BTW... for the three fingered vulagarians here, the JCPOA is widely available on US Government and EU websites. Folks should read it. And then ask if they believe Trump will be getting a better deal.
Les,
I'm afraid Bob has crawled back up into Trump's anatomy where the sun doesn't shine.
Dave,
Bob don't need no stinkin' facts. All he needs are Trump's dishonest and hateful social media posts and his sycophantic henchmen's' lies.
List some of "Trump's dishonest and hateful social media posts and his sycophantic henchman's lies." for us since you are the fountainhead of HATE shouldn't be a problem for you.
I come here for comic relief. I guess you want Iraq to have the atomic bomb.
IRAN, not IRAQ, stupid spell check
Bob,
For discussions and numerous examples of Trump's dishonest and hateful social media posts and his sycophantic henchman's lies, go here:
http://www.davedubya.com/
Every example is accurate.
And yes, I want Iran to have the atomic bomb, as much as the Pope does, according your hate-filled lying cult leader. He really is your malevolent, mendacious messiah, isn't he? You LIE and falsely ACCUSE just like him.
Now tell us how Trump is dealing with Iran better, and cheaper, and with fewer American lives lost, and resulting in the same concessions and inspections than Obama's international agreement.
Well?
What's the matter, Bob? Too much brain strain for you? LOL!
I have an idea. Why don't you DEFLECT again? It fools us all the time into thinking you're a rational and informed person. ;-)
Bob,
How about you demonstrate your knowledge and superior intellect to address ANY of the points I made in "Supreme Racism"?
Can you do it without showing your racism?
Come on, Bob. Here's your chance to "own the libs".
If you don't know how to proceed, allow me to offer you this handy format for you to just fill in the blanks:
“Dave, I have to say you are stating falsehoods by claiming (_____) and (_______). These verifiable facts and evidence (_____) and (____) suggest you are quite mistaken.”
I bet you prefer deflection, for some reason... :-)
IDK Dave... Bob sounds very familiar in this comment "I come here for comic relief. I guess you want Iraq to have the atomic bomb."
Very trollish. Very -FJ. And he admits the obvious. He's here for the game, for the sake of trolling.
There will be no honest discussion, no fair exchange of ideas. No give and take. Because that's not the space the trolls inhabit.
Anyone who has not seen hateful and dishonest posts from POTUS Trump is either willfully ignorant/obstinate or one of the stupidest people on the planet.
What do we do?
When America's influence around the globe dwindles to non existent and the Great American Empire is brought to heel by more enlightened and intelligent nations will the cult of MAGA acknowledge what the rest of knew all along.
Bob IS MAGA through and through. Fed daily by the hateful rhetoric of his messiah, the malignant narcissist trump.
Bob is definitely in the running for both "willfully ignorant/obstinate or one of the stupidest people on the planet".
What do we do? We call them out and mock them, of course. They're actually proud of deserving no respect. The Trump Cult bubble is their safe space they go back to when humiliated.
@Dave Miller...
Is it possible that the the MAGA cult is the expression of anxiety and fear? The result of a changing evolving world they feel powerless to control? Possibly because they feel unseen and unheard by a system that by design really does not care about them at all?
I do not mean to imply any of that is actually true because I do not know with any sense of certainty whether it is or isn't. But, where there is smoke there if often a blaze in the offing.
Just food fir thought. Or, an extention of an olive branch to the troll(s).
Well Les... certainly there is a feeling among many that they are unseen and unheard. They feel, as this cohort has since the mid 1960s, power, privilege and status all ebbing away and they are not happy.
All of that is well documented starting with the signing of Civil Rights Act of 1964, which banned public segregation and employment discrimination, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which abolished literacy tests and protected voting rights. Then the Fair Housing Act followed outlawing Red-Lining across America.
Robert Putnam and Shaylyn Garrett present reams of data to make that case in their book The Upswing. So you're not wrong.
That's on the race side. I also think there's an economic part in play also. Many of us DO feel left behind by the economy. We're not millionaires. We don't have tax shelters. Many of work long hours for crappy pay and remember when a decent job, as a nurse, teacher, department store manager meant you could buy a house.
That's not true anymore. The well off are now rich. The rich are as rich as kings and Joe the Plumber is struggling to make ends meet.
And few believe our politicians care or have solutions. Worse, many feel those politicians are not listening. For the MAGA supporter, I'd say go spend a few days in liberal land, talk with people there, eat in their homes and hear their concerns. To the progressive, I'd say go to rural America, shut up and listen.
Both sides have a lot to say and a lot that concerns them. But only if we build give and take relationships with people across the aisle, or geographic divide, and learn to listen in those relationships, will we be able to bridge the current divide.
Dave and Les,
As our trolls keep telling us, unless we talk to them in person, or even if we do, Trump supporters will ignore us.
Yes, Les, they live in fear stoked by racists and authoritarians. That fear converts to hate.
I'm sick of sympathizing with entitled, white privileged, rural voters who have no idea what minorities endure. I'm sick of rich racist oligarchs buying our government and the idiots who cheer for them. The fact they voted in tandem with every neo-Nazi and bigot for a racist criminal over a qualified woman of color is enough.
"I voted for the Christian nationalist racism, not to pay five dollars a gallon for gas and being poor" is what their resentments come down to.
Liberals and Blacks in their same income demographic have nowhere near the representation as those people do. It's past time they sympathize with us, but that's beyond their narrow world view. Remember the authoritarian personality has no sense of compassion for anyone they don't know or is not among their ranks. This is a third of our population.
Pastor Pavlovitz shows us where we are at this point in history:
“Today, we no longer need to ask what we’d have done in the face of evil’s ascension, of Democracy’s destruction, and humanity’s peril; we only need to ask what we’re doing right now.”
Let’s not mince words. Trumpism is evil. Trump and his racist authoritarian party must be resisted. But what of their supporters?
Back in January ’25 he called out Trump voters with points worth remembering and repeating:
https://johnpavlovitz.substack.com/p/to-the-people-i-know-who-voted-for
From “To the people I know who voted for him”
“There’s nothing I could say about him here that you don’t already know.
But as this next chapter of our nation begins, I just want you to know something I feel about you:
I hold you responsible:
for every vile and disgusting thing he says,
for every way he perverts our systems,
for every reprehensible decision he makes,
for every human being whose life he makes a living hell,
for every immigrant he rounds up in hospital beds and churches,
for every legislative assault on the rights of women and LGBTQ people, the poor, and the elderly,
for every economic catastrophe he generates,
for every international conflict he enflames,
every public health emergency he exacerbates,
every natural disaster he weaponizes.
You chose this.
You chose him.
For likely the third time, you had a chance to reject his vitriol, to condemn his criminality, to prevent his lawlessness, to denounce his bigotry—and you flat-out refused. More than that, you celebrated it. That’s not something I can quietly abide.”
Amen!
I don’t care about their whining about the price of eggs. They have condoned all the racism, cruelty, corruption, lies, and hate that have been suffocating our democracy, dividing our people, and destroying our national values and reputation.
I cannot forgive any of them until they wake up, find their conscience, repent, apologize, and atone for their collaboration with the criminals, liars, racists, and fascists and the consequences of their votes.
Liz Cheney had it right when she said, “there will come a day when Donald Trump is gone but your dishonor will remain”.
Both of you are 100% correct. As two things (maybe more) can be right at the same time.
The Dalai Lama like to say, My religion is kindness. Which of course included compassion and empathy as well as wisdom. A sentiment it seems many conservatives, especially MAGAs are lacking in.
You are right Dave M., until both sides of the economic and political aisles decide to actually honesty discuss the issues nothing is going to change.
I believe it was Steven Covey who said, Seek first to understand and then to be understood. He was, and is, absolutely right. But until both sides ditch their egos and reified false beliefs progress and improvement will continue to be out of reach. And the ONLY ones benefitted will be those 1%'s who hold all the wealth and power.
"Fed daily by the hateful rhetoric of his messiah, the malignant narcissist trump."
Got some examples you can share?
Bob,
There you go again.
I have provided countless examples, but you REFUSE to read any of my posts.
Stop being an asshole, Bob. (Actually, I think you LOVE being an asshole for your CRIMINAL asshole president and malevolent mendacious messiah. You want to be just like him.)
Frankly, its obvious that bob loves the filth that is trump and his filthy fascist authoritarian regime.
The trump turd gives examples every single day showing what an ignorant hateful asshole he is.
But bob, like a true cultist willingly closes his eyes to the abject evil that consumes and drives trump to do what he does.
One can only assume, based on bob's grunts, that he not only wholly approves of trump's evil personality but that he wants to be exactly like him. trump is bob's messiah and hero.
Curiosity, reading, and critical thinking are alien concepts for the likes of Bob.
It's so much easier to just BELIEVE every word from their CRIMINAL president and malevolent mendacious messiah. It's all they need to "know".
And I'm sick of you bleeding hearts believing everything you read and hear from the TDS Liberal Media!
Hold on... is Bob Ray? Or maybe RayBob? But not Ray J?
Dave,
Danged if I can tell the difference. They all look and sound exactly alike under those white hoods and none of them read what we write.
I didn't even notice that was you, "Ray". I was assuming it was more of Bob's bullshit. No matter. This reply is for both of you to ignore.
That's right, Bob.
As every cult knows, only Dear Leader and his loyal ass kissers tell the truth.
Do you believe Trump in April 2022 when he stated at a rally in Selma, North Carolina: "I think I'm the most honest human being, perhaps, that God ever created"? (More honest than the Pope, amirite? Because the Pope said he wanted Iran to have nuclear weapons, right? When did the Pope say that, Bob?
Where is the healthcare plan he promised in "two weeks" 10 years ago?
So when did Trump end the war in Ukraine in "24 hours"?
When did he "win" in Iran?
By how many more votes than Biden did he "win" in 2020?
Where is the proof of "massive voter impersonation fraud"?
Where is the evidence they were "eating the dogs in Springfield"?
Remember when he said no taxpayer dollars would go to his ballroom?
And can you tell us how Trump "knows the Bible" better than the Pope?
When, if ever, has Trump lied, Bob? Never, because he's your messiah, Bob?
Still think you have all the facts, Bob?
