Patriot v Fascist

Here’s now a neo-Nazi would try to smear Democrats as commies, and how a patriot would respond. Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) went after Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) during a House Rules Committee hearing on a resolution that “denounces socialism in all its forms, and opposes the implementation of socialist policies in the United States of America.”

Reschenthaler was one of the 147 Republicans who voted to throw out the results of the election based on Trump’s Big Lie about widespread voter fraud. This lie motivated a violent pro-Trump mob to attack the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. After hours of refusing to order them to leave, Trump PRAISED the mob of thugs saying, “You’re very special. We love you.” (Yes, like Hitler’s 1923 Beer Hall Putsch, this is exactly how fascism raises its ugly head to stoke hate and violence.)

Key excerpts:

Waters: “The American public is going to wonder why Republicans are wasting our time today with this divisive resolution instead of focusing on the real threats to our economy and democracy. What is this all about? Is it about saying you want to cut Social Security? You want to cut Medicare? You don’t care about the debt ceiling? Please.”

Reschenthaler: “You can’t condemn socialism? In your opening remarks, you were talking about Putin, Kim Jong Un and Xi. You know what they all have in common, right?”

Waters: “Trump,” she said flatly to a few laughs in the room.

Reschenthaler: “Trump? North Korea, China and Russia?”

Waters: “He loves Kim Jong Un, who is condemned in the resolution. Regarding North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Trump said Kim ‘wrote me beautiful letters, and they’re great letters and we fell in love.’ You sure you want to hear the rest of this?”

Reschenthaler: “Do you denounce that?”

Waters: “But Trump loves him. That’s your leader.”

Reschenthaler: “Do you denounce the genocide and starvation in communist China?”

Waters: “Trump is your leader. He speaks for you. He says he loves him.”

Reschenthaler: “Stalin. Tens of millions died. Do you want to denounce that?”

Waters: “I’m sorry, I don’t deal with yes or no questions."

Reschenthaler: “Why don’t you explain your support of Stalin.”

Waters: “No, why don’t you explain it? Your Republican leader, Donald Trump, is friends with, supports Putin. Kim Jong Un, he loves him. And he led this country in being basically undermined by Jan. 6, including … telling his supporters to go after our own police officers here and use the American flag. I haven’t heard one denouncement on the Republican side. Nobody has denounced that. Are you afraid of Trump? Do you agree with Trump? Ask him the questions, don’t ask me.”

Reschenthaler:  “Do you denounce the killing fields of Cambodia or not?”

Waters: “Don’t ask me silly questions. I told you, I’m a capitalist. I’m not like Donald Trump. I’m not like Republicans who claim to support this democracy but at the same time refuse to condemn those who attempted to destroy this democracy. You need to talk to your leader, Donald Trump, about what he’s doing, about why he loves Putin so much, why he loves Kim Jong Un so much. You ask him the questions.”

Reschenthaler: “For the record, you’ve refused to denounce Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, Hugo Chavez. That’s amazing.”

Waters: “For the record, you refuse to denounce Donald Trump. You refuse to denounce the insurrection that tried to destroy our democracy. You refuse to denounce the Proud Boys, the Oath Keepers, QAnon, the KKK. You refuse all of that. When you do all of that, then we can talk.”

You are lost Anonymous troll, in more ways than you can imagine. I would post as anonymous too, if I was as confused, disoriented and hateful as you are.

Clashes of political ideology is nothing new in the history of the world, but results show us which is successful, and which is destructive. Those results are so clear it's amazing the debate still goes on.

Dave Dubya said...

Would you care to expound on that conclusion? Where does fair democratic representation of, by and for the people v. unregulated capitalism under an economic aristocracy fall in this ideological frame?

Remember pure capitalism utilized slavery, sweat shops, and child labor before advocates of labor rights, social safety nets, and democracy decided it wasn't in the best interest for all of us.

Can you clear up this debate for us?

There have always been crooked, bigoted people like Trump through our history that used the system for their own selfish gains. As did slave owners even though we had a Constitution that declared all men equal. With all the negatives you mention still capitalism is far superior than communism, socialism, fascism, and other forms of government. And we have not murdered 10's of millions of our citizens as those governments have. Improve the bad and be grateful for the good and the fact that you live here.

Here's the trap. Republicans set out to conflate socialism with communism.

The posturing, pontificating, treacherous, self-righteous House Republicans wouldn’t define socialism, but demanded answers to their leading questions. They implied socialism is communism, following their Fuhrers’ ranting about Democrats being communists. It’s clearly a set up for their plan to dismantle or privatize socialist public programs like Social Security and Medicare, and frame Democrats as commies. It was a trap, and not very clever.

The clever one was Rep. Waters in her responses to their badgering.

In countries called "socialist" people are happier than Americans. They LIKE their public education and healthcare. People are not so happy in communist countries under a one-party dictatorship.

This is the distinction the Right refuses to recognize. Not only that, we have socialism in our Constitution. The provision for the general welfare, taxes, and regulation of commerce.

China has state-run capitalism. Why don't Republicans defend that?

Socialist countries have within their system their own capitalism. This spoils the Right's rigid definitions THEY want to impose on us.

In fact, almost every communist country has a degree of capitalism.

"And we have not murdered 10's of millions of our citizens as those governments have" See how you included socialist countries in that broad generalizations?

We all know communist and fascist countries murdered their citizens. Name ONE "socialist" country that killed millions? In fact the US has killed millions of innocent civilians from WWII to today. That's capitalism, especially in Vietnam and Iraq/Afghanistan.

Our Constitutional provision for the general welfare is "socialism" to them. Anything they hate is "Socialist woke CRT". They will deny their meanings and invent their own definitions for all of them.

They don't want reasonable discussion. They want to demonize and label Democrats as communists.

Anything to dupe voters into giving them power to pursue their corrupt intentions to dismantle our representative democracy while filling their wallets.

This is what made an uneducated ignoramus like Boebert a millionaire. Hate and lies bring in the cash.

Stalin was defined as a socialist and he murdered 40 million of his citizens.

Dave Dubya said...

Stalin was a communist dictator, no matter who tries to define him differently.

Did you read what I said about the Right's propaganda tactic of conflating communism with socialism? That's what you are doing. And that is what Stalin did.

Neither socialism nor communism murdered millions. Dictators did.

Socialism was so popular that dictators would call themselves socialists. North Korea isn't really the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea" by any definition. In reality Stalin was a communist dictator, Hitler and Mussolini were fascist dictators. If definitions have meaning to you, then these are how they apply.

Try as they may, the Republican Party cannot in any honesty or decency dictate the definitions of words and historical facts. But they try and succeed with their true believers. They dupe millions of low-information Americans. Ever wonder why Trump said, "I love the poorly educated"?

Stalin was secretary-general of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1922–53) and premier of the Soviet state (1941–53).

But don't feel too confused. Both socialism and communism have historically been implemented to varying degrees and interpretations. Strict communism is under one party dictatorship, where socialistic countries can be democratic republics. There's no democracy in communist dictatorships.

Countries defined as "socialist", such as in Western Europe, are also democracies. They also have capitalistic economies. China has govt. capitalism.

So all three of these words, capitalism, communism and socialism are on a spectrum of many degrees and can even overlap.

The problem goes back to these guys:

"Marx and Engels themselves didn’t consistently or clearly differentiate communism from socialism, which helped ensure lasting confusion between the two terms." simplifies the basic differences.

Under communism, there is no such thing as private property. All property is communally owned, and each person receives a portion based on what they need. A strong central government—the state—controls all aspects of economic production, and provides citizens with their basic necessities, including food, housing, medical care and education.

By contrast, under socialism, individuals can still own property. But industrial production, or the chief means of generating wealth, is communally owned and managed by a democratically elected government.

The more you learn, the less you fall for ideological framing and partisan definitions.

Only your definitions count no matter what history says. Got it.

Dave Dubya said...

Now you're trolling.
You gave an inaccurate and misleading opinion on Stalin.
" matter what history says."
I quoted HISTORY.COM!!!
Your projection is at MAGA level.
Obviously you're not looking for reasonable discourse, and prefer to be ignorant on the subject.
By your weak display of reason, I expect you to call me a commie next.
It's clear you have some kind of personal problem with me.
Yeah, I got it. And you clearly do not.

Shaw Kenawe said...

You're never going to convince the uneducable. Ever.

They're not interested in reasoned dialog, just "GOTCHA!" and screaming "SOCHALISM! COMMIES!"

Have they ever heard of these countries: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland? And do they know that people who live in those countries (with lots of socialistic policies) are among the happiest people on the planet? Do they seriously not know that a majority of civilized democratic (small "d") countries all have some sort of nationalized health care? Are people like Rep. Reschenthaler complete idiots?

In my opinion people like him aren't interested in discussing our problems. They just want to make points and, as I've said, SCREAM about "sochalism!" and commies. IOW, they contribut nothing to anything, and they're a waste of space.

Biden did not disappoint, he was the same pathological liar that he always is, and Democratic voters are the same Fed Sheep

Dave Dubya said...

Ya think so? Why couldn't you show us facts to support your accusation?

Oh, that's right. You and Boebert, Santos, MTG, etc. are exempt from facts and critical thinking. It's much easier to say "liar" than show evidence, isn't it? Simple minds, simple words.

We understand you're upset that Biden got your gang of idiots to stand in support of socialist Medicare and Social Security, especially after they failed to con Dems into condemning “socialism”.

Won't they look like the liars, tools and fools when they demand cutting them for the debt ceiling? Funny how they weren't bothered about the debt ceiling when Trump jacked up the debt by $7.8 trillion.

Very "principled" of them to be his sheep, amirite?

Is this because they are "very special" and he "loves them", like he loves his 1/6 thugs, and dictators like Putin, Kim Jong Un, and Premier Xi?

"Salvatore DeMarco" is an escapee from the "Who's Your Daddy" blog that has been dark since last September. He/she is one of the trolls who commented there; and now that it's dark, "Sal" and others like that travel around to liberal AND conservative blogs, spreading their drivel.

"Sal" comes to my blog's "comment moderation" frequently. When I see that name, I automatically delete, without reading any of his claptrap.

WYD trolls are not interested in discussions. They have a burning need to have their sloppy, uneducated opinions appear somewhere, anywhere until WYD is up again.

I don't give any of them a platform.

Dave Dubya said...

I usually allow one comment from the kooks, even if they project their accusation that we are "sheep". Their limited capacity for reason compels them to BELIEVE we are loyal cultists worshiping Democrats as they worship Trump.

Errant trolls can only dump their indoctrinated resentments and hate in the simplest of blanket accusations. They lack the critical thinking that enables them to say anything of rational or logical substance.

Just their delicate WITTOW FEEWINGS.

Unless you are living UNDER a Rock , you already Know about the Disastrous Train Wreck.
But do you know this?
A million pounds of dangerous, toxic material dumped out, water contaminated, pets dead, fish floating, animals dying, the 'clean-up' burn created an acid bi-product, pamphlets handed out about the numerous cancers and ailments this disaster will cause for DECADES...and their government says. “ ”If they have any f problems they can call Pete Buttigieg, and he will get right on it.”!

Buttplug the imbecile? Lot’s of Luck with that!
The Bottom Line is that This administration is disgusting. FEMA alleges that there will be no assistance because this isn't a 'TRADITIONAL' DISASTER. Yet FEMA responded to 9/11, which apparently is.... GO FIGURE THAT OUT! . BIDEN, AND HIS ENTIRE ADMINISTRATION IS A DISGRACE TO THE HUMAN RACE

Dave Dubya said...

Mr. "Honest Opinion",

Your opinion is obviously formed by propaganda from pro-Trump media, no doubt.

Do you think the cheapskate RR owners wanted to comply with a better braking system? No. They got Trump to deregulate the requirements set by Obama.

But you need to blame Democrats for the disaster set in motion by corporate greed and Republican deregulation.

Obviously you don't want to learn what you don't want to know.

Like: Scott Deutsch of Norfolk Southern Railway said that "the crews handling the controlled release have done this safely before."

Like Gov. Dewine's statement:

"Following further discussions with FEMA tonight, they will be deploying federal resources to East Palestine."

How big is the rock you're living under? Do you still think Biden stole the election? I'd bet you still believe in that Big Lie, that even FOX privately said was BS, but still aired the liars out of fear of losing ratings from the Trump Cult.

See the Dominion lawsuit. It's legal public record now.

But your closed mind won't ever accept the facts.

As Orwell's Big Brother says in "1984", "Ignorance is Strength".

And thanks for sharing with us how much blind rage and hatred you have to show for your cult indoctrination.

Shaw Kenawe said...

Dave, IMHO is another escapee from the WYD blog. I've been told that the blog is up again and that its usual half-wits are now posting their Fox-induced deliria there.

WYD's trolls still have a burning need to come to liberal blogs to show off their stupidity.

Dave Dubya said...

My morbid curiosity took me over to that blog. What an orgy of racism, ignorance and hate.
Just how their radical Right fascist masters have indoctrinated them.
