Promises Made, Promises Kept

I had a recent twitter exchange with a proud, white, “not racist” Trump supporter. He scorned me for being duped by “fake news”.

He was proud of “white culture”, and what white people accomplished. He praised his fellow white people for all the advances in science, engineering, industry, agriculture, etc.

I pointed out that people of color contributed to all of those fields as well. But, hey, what does it matter?

He blamed Obama for the rise in racism.

He declared he was not a “white nationalist”, even though he admitted he was a Proud Boy.

I informed him of Roger Stone flashing the white power hand sign with some Proud Boys.

His final praise for Trump was “Promises made, promises kept”.

I was happy to show him a few promises not kept. But I went further. It was probably too much for him to process my last message.

1. Racists blame Obama

2. White nationalists flash the white power hand sign

3. Proud Boys flash the white power hand sign

4. Only far Right true believers believe far Right media

5. The beliefs are indoctrinated

6. Racism is not racism to racists

7. You cannot grasp this

He blocked me soon after I posted this.

Rewarding as that was, I thought I’d expand on his theme of “Promises made, promises kept”. A fair standard, as such, albeit less than fair promises were in the mix.

Anyway, here’s a handy guide to those promises.

Promises Kept:

Tax cuts for the rich

Raised import tariffs

More Healthcare for veterans

Stopped TPP

Defunded Planned Parenthood

Cut Education Department

Limited legal immigration

Broke Iran Deal (Brink of war assassination and retaliation)

Canceled Paris Agreement (Deny global warming)

Deregulated polluters

Installed unqualified theocratic/corporate judges

Promises Not Kept:

Showing his tax returns

“Balance the budget fairly quickly”

Repealing Obamacare

$550 billion for infrastructure

“Bring back manufacturing”

Prosecute Hillary

6 months paid maternity leave

Allow deductions for health care premiums

Cuts in food stamps for 700,000 (Blocked by judge)

“Won’t cut Medicare” (Payroll tax cut)

“Won’t cut Medicaid” (Added work requirement)

“Won’t cut Social Security” (Proposed Payroll tax cut)

“Eliminate wasteful spending”

“Better cheaper healthcare” (Downplayed Covid pandemic)

Reducing the debt (“Eliminate in 8 years”)

DACA? (Then: “I love the dreamers.” Now: “Deport the dreamers.”)

"Build the wall"

Mexico paying for the wall

Ending the wars

“Bring back waterboarding”

And last, but not the least promise not kept:

“Law and order”

Hmm. Let's see here...

Admitted history of sex crimes.

Campaign cronies met with and shared info with Russian agents.

Campaign cronies welcomed Russian help.

Cronies lied to Congress.

Pardons and commutation for cronies.

Broke the law by paying off porn star.

Up to 10 counts of obstruction of justice on Mueller investigation.

Witness tampering.

Solicited foreign help for election.(Russia, Ukraine, if you’re listening)

Assault on lawful protesters for photo op.

Vote suppression: 18 U.S. Code § 594: "Whoever intimidates, threatens, coerces, or attempts to intimidate, threaten, or coerce, any other person for the purpose of interfering with the right of such other person to vote or to vote as he may choose".

Obstruction of mail: "knowingly and willfully obstructs or retards the passage of the mail".

(U.S. Code § 1512.Tampering with a witness(b)Whoever knowingly uses intimidation..

52 U.S. Code § 30121. It shall be unlawful— to solicit- from a foreign national--money or other thing of value-- in connection with a Federal election.

The complete "law and order" list would be much longer. We'll probably never know of all the crimes committed by the Trump Cartel.

Dave, the clock is ticking with one day left. " In two weeks, I'll sign an executive order to protect pre-existing conditions. " He said this on 8/7/20. We'll see if he makes his self imposed deadline. I'll bet not based on past behavior and ring it up in the promises not kept category. Bogus executive order anyway. He probably doesn't even remember he said it. We'll see if he makes me eat crow. My dad left me with some words to live by " If a man isn't good on his word, he's good for shit. " I think this is a fair standard to apply to " Don the Con. "

Fear not, all is well.

Like he told CBS’ “60 Minutes” in 2016: “I am going to take care of everybody … Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.”

Sure enough:

On July 19, 2020 he promised, “We’re signing a health-care plan within two weeks, a full and complete health-care plan.”

Those pre-existing conditions are no longer a concern by now, I'm sure.

Woo Hoo! We're all saved! He's the Only One! I'll bet he makes Mexico pay for it too! ;-)

On FOX(R):
"Bannon - Stone - Flynn - Gates - Manafort. What's that say about your judgment & the culture of lawlessness around you?"

Trump: Well, there was great lawlessness in the Obama administration

Victim card, race card, lie card, deflection card, and dismissal card.

Definitely not a full deck.

Hi Dave,

Just checked in on the National Debt Clock. I love to watch the circles of numbers tick off with dizzying speed like a 1960s era adding machine. I don't recall it ever spinning this fast. I think it used to take a day or so to click off $1 billion. So the national debt is at about $26.6915 trillion as of this evening. Look fast. It doesn't stay the same for very long. It looks to me like we are adding something like $2.5 million/minute. This is cranking out an unheard of additional debt of $3.5 billion/day. Conservatively at this rate, we will top $27 trillion by Thanksgiving. The next trillion will take less than 300 days.

It's a bust, right? I mean there's only so much debt even the strongest economy in the world can stand to support?!? Right?

Nice to see you.
Don't worry about the debt. That's only important when a democrat is president. At least that's message we get from the "party of fiscal responsibility".

And don't worry about the Fed's artificial boosting of the market. The Fed and Mnuchin are buying $1,250,000,000,000 (yep Trillions) of corporate bonds resulting in spikes in the stock prices of those companies.

What could possibly go wrong if Biden were to discontinue that fake fix?
