Not That Different

Here's how the enemies of democracy operate.

First, the fanatic and loyal Trump supporter Patrick Carlineo was charged with threatening to kill Rep. Ilhan Omar. Carlineo told the FBI "that he was a patriot, that he loves the President, and that he hates radical Muslims in our government.”

This is terrorism people. This is the Right-wing terrorism Trump is more than tacitly condoning, by shutting down federal investigation, identification, and classification of domestic white nationalist terrorism.

After the terrorist was arrested, Rep. Ilhan Omar called Trump's authoritarian bigoted adviser Stephen Miller a white nationalist, which he is.

Miller loves serving the racist agenda of a racist president. He has praised Alex Jones, and is a buddy of alt-right racist Richard Spencer. AND he wants to lock immigrant children in cages.

For her calling out Trump’s white nationalist henchman, the racists of the Party of Trump accuse her of being anti-Semitic. This is calculated to inflame more hate, racism, and bigotry towards an innocent black woman.

For the Party of Trump, it is not evil enough for her to be just threatened by a white nationalist terrorist.

Those fascist vermin are basically signaling to their cult of killers to continue targeting Omar.

Understand this.

If it excites them so much to imprison and terrorize brown children, imagine what they'd like to do with their political opposition. "Lock her up!" is more than a hate-filled rally chant. It is their plan.

These cold-blooded, evil-hearted assholes are not that different from Nazis. If not for our Constitution they’d have us all in camps. Unless they are stopped, that is exactly what they would do.

Nice try, liar-in-chief. Your Pinocio nose gets longer and longer.

He's a disgrace to the office of the President of the United States of America.

Only in Trumpistan can we be "anti-American" for being anti-fascist. Only in Trumpistan can we be "anti-Semitic" for being anti-white white nationalist or anti-Netanyahu.

One Fly,
You've revealed my greatest flaw.

Dave Dubya said...

JG,
Too late. They've already been allowed their power. And their abuses of power will get only worse.

White nationalism has fused with corporatism. Fascism has arrived. Corpo-Dems have no interest in challenging their corporatism, and they show little resolve to lead in a different direction. Trump will eventually be gone, but the venom from his racist, greedy, and cruel cult has neutralized democracy and nearly destroyed our republic.

It's quite likely it will never recover. Their poison will continue to rot out our nation's core values and institutions.

That's not what a true Republican Party would do. It is what a corrupt and authoritarian regime does.

There is no Republican Party. It is the White Nationalist/Corporatist Party of Trump.

Now the MAGAts in the DOJ are giving a special blessing to their Fuhrer. The Emoluments Clause no longer applies...but only for him.

This is the most corrupt administration in history, and they are doubling down.

We need to remember they are NOT most of us. Most Americans are not on board with these cold-blooded, evil-hearted, fascist assholes. But most of us will most certainly get royally screwed by the bastards if we don't get it together fast.

If they take 2020, it's all over... if it isn't already.

The American Dream is dead. The American Nightmare is here.

What a spectacle to fill our Golden Years. I also expect to see Nixon exonerated any time, now.

Dave, you've just provided the very definition of fascism. Add a large dose of militarism, a smattering of police brutality, and a huge splash of overt racism, and you've got the makings of old-fashioned Nazism.

This recipe is guaranteed to mask the sweet taste of democracy and equality -- both under the law and economically.

To be sure, it's toxic and poisonous to all living creatures and especially the human spirit.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

Or what will possibly be known to future historians and survivors as, recounting this era, "Trumpism".

JG,
White Nationalist Corpo-fascism has taken fascism to a new level. Not only does it reflect white supremacy, it has invented a new artificial "master race", embodied in corporate personhood. This should work out swell for all the "inferior" sub-human mongrels they see the rest of us being. It's all about "owning" the others by any means available.

The rise of Trump has conveyed one important truth; that moral emptiness, greed, inequality, and cruelty are at the heart of con-servatism.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

Glad to see you're still gettin' into ole' Vern's racist mind and kkkowardly heart. ;-)

Dave, I believe we're both a curious abnormality to Vern. He's probably never come across people who have love and respect for their fellow human beings -- for no other reason than it's the proper and right way to be -- and who will defend them as we would our own families and loved ones.

For this, along with his own personal deficiencies and human failures, he hates us.

Dave Dubya said...

JG,
Yes. He's so thoughtful to personally share what he considers critical information with me. Sadly, his intimacies must remain private for the most part.

His greatest deficiency is in an area of human relations that liberals tend to value far more than con-servatives and authoritarians.

"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

Not on his radar. This is closer to our religion, or even agnosticism or atheism, than to his hypocrisy.

Basic human decency towards the least of us means nothing to him and the millions of hypocrites like him. It's far too important for them to feel superior to the least of us. Feeling superior to others makes it easier for them to hate the others. It is who, what, and how they are.

We recall NRA loudmouth/Con-servative Ted Nugent calling Obama a "sub human mongrel". And of course their fellow racist in the White House grew his cult by insisting the Black president was a sinister foreign impostor.

And there you have it. American con-servatism, endorsed by the vast majority of evangelicals.

I may be a just another lapsed Catholic, but here's what my religion says:

Jesus thinks the "con-gelicals" are all self-righteous, arrogant, ignorant assholes.

That's the message I have received, as a minister of the Universal Life Church. My "career path" has taken me many places. I am also a saint, having received the Divine Knowledge bestowed by a Satguru of a Sikh sect called the Nirankari, "commissioned to expel the darkness of ignorance... a believer of God as spirit, without bodily form". Dhan Nirankar. A beautiful faith that accepts the essential truths of all faiths. Bigotry is emphatically rejected.

This is my mission, my "career path", to expel the darkness of ignorance that is con-servatism.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

"And there you have it. American con-servatism, endorsed by the vast majority of evangelicals." ~~ Dave Dubya

Evangelical Christianity is nothing but a cruel and hideous bastardization of the teachings of love and respect that the Jewish rabbi, Jesus of Nazareth, asked of his apostles and followers.

Being an ex-Christian, former Catholic, myself, Dave, I recognized the hippocracy and unjustness of the Church and its false teachings long ago. It's much worse now. It, also, feeds into the cruel reality of Trumpism, just as it did with the Nazis in the run-up to WWII.

Today, with the ever-exposing pedophilia epidemic, this oldest of the world's institutions is revealing its moral bankruptcy more and more each day.

Jesus was a just and honest and good man. The Church and religion that claims to base its foundation on his teachings, lost its way before it actually got a foothold. It died with the rabbi Jesus.

Today, even its supposed believers don't believe its core teachings anymore. Today's America, as just one example, is the proof in the pudding.

Here’s a recent take on the con-gelical MAGAt cult from a good Christian:

The Terribly Tiny God of MAGA Christians

By JOHN PAVLOVITZ

I feel sorry for professed Christians who support this President.

They have a profound and fundamental spiritual problem: their God is too small.

They passionately worship a deity made in their own image: white, American, Republican, male—and perpetually terrified of just about everything: Muslims, immigrants, gay children, Special Counsel reports, mandalas, Harry Potter, Starbuck holiday cups, yoga, wind turbines, Science—everything.

Their God is so laughably minuscule, so fully neutered of power, so completely devoid of functioning vertebrae that “He” cannot protect them from the encroaching monsters they are certain lurk around every corner to overwhelm them.

This is because the Big MAGAt IS their messiah. They believe in him. They love him. They worship him. And they hate those who do not.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

I've maintained for a long time that conservatives will always manage to see boogeymen behind every bush and tree, around every corner; under every manhole cover.

It's the paranoid and untrusting nature they inhabit and refuse to release. Their professed love of Jesus is always conditioned. Jesus must always answer their prayers and fulfill their requests. Never the other way around -- or if you're not white, and not an Amerjcan.

Their Jesus is treated as another dark-skinned servant, only valuable as a vessel to secure their wish of an eternal life once their incarnate existence on this planet ends.

Jesus was supposed to give hope, and extol love and offer forgiveness. For professed Christians who support Donald Trump, he's just another commodity to help attain a desired end.

I'm curious to hear what ultra-white nationalist Steve Bannon has to say tomorrow night (On Assignment) about the Catholic Church when he takes on the pope.

Apparently he thinks the pope, and the Church, isn't conservative enough for him so he has purchased a monastery outside of Rome to recruit a new generation to see it his way. "Father Bannon" must have big plans. ;-)

Tridentine mass, perhaps? More lace in their liturgical robes, maybe? Will he introduce a borrowed meme from an old and worn tagline, "Make Church Great Again?"

Dave Dubya said...

JG,

It seems like a very long time ago, Dave.

Francis has been effectively neutered of late (pun intended) by the overwhelming sexual and pedophile scandals within his clergy. Again, just like the Republican Party within our corrupt political system, his Curia and congregation of bishops is dominated by a slew of white conservative sick fucks -- not unlike the evangelical protestant leadership in this country.

Do you see a pattern here?

When the current pope assumed the seat of Peter, he rattled the establishment and had everybody lookin'. Maybe I missed something recently, so point me in the right direction. (Sorry...I'm enjoying a great bowl of pho at one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants, so can't easily research it at the moment.)

Good questions...

"Here’s a question for you. Which American politician publicly referred to the terrorists who carried out the 9/11 attacks as 'those folks who committed this act,' seemingly downplaying its horrors? Was it Minnesota representative Ilhan Omar? No. Try George W Bush.

Here’s another one. Which American politician publicly called Benjamin Netanyahu 'your prime minister' while addressing a crowd of Jewish American supporters. Since the statement assumes Jewish Americans carry a dual loyalty to both Israel and the United States, you might assume it was Ilhan Omar, based on all we’ve been told about her. In fact, it was Donald Trump.

Or how about this. Who said that 'the Stephen Miller approach to immigration has no viability', adding that 'Mr Miller is well known...for having views that are outside the mainstream,' suggesting Miller is in reality a political extremist who doesn’t belong in government? Was it Ilhan Omar? Wrong again. It was the Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
" ~~ The Guardian, "Ilhan Omar has become the target of a dangerous hate campaign - Fox News, New York Post and Donald Trump are contributing to a climate of vigilantism that threatens every Muslim in America today", by Moustafa Bayoumi, April 14, 2019

The white nationalist-in-chief is stirring the pot, once again, and creating unsafe and dangerous conditions for all Americans. He stooped so low, although all in a day's work for him ("executive time", ya' know), to tweet an outrageous libelous attack against the congresswoman from Minnesota depicting the burning and falling World Trade towers as her fault.

He's a devisive and evil president; a non-president in my mind, having or holding zero legitimacy in our democratic republic. He's a criminal of the worst magnitude, which will be shown in time.

Dave, it's coming soon. With Trump's continuing proclamations that the press is the "enemy of the people", and the arrest and probable extradition, indictment and ensuing mock trial of Julian Assange, a free press and first amendment rights will soon come to an abrupt end.

What follows is an excerpt from a conversation between author and famed whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg and Sharmini Peries of the Real News Network.

"SHARMINI PERIES: It’s The Real News Network. I’m Sharmini Peries, coming to you from Baltimore.

Whistleblower associated with WikiLeaks Julian Assange appeared to be making a statement as he was shuffled out in handcuffs from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. He was carrying a book, a book published by The Real News Network with Gore Vidal on the history of the national security state. We gather Assange may have been trying to send the world a message, as did the Washington Post. And you can find an interview that Paul Jay, the senior editor here at The Real News Network, had done with The Washington Post in the link below.

On to talk about Assange and the reasons for his arrest is a man that is, perhaps, the most famous whistleblower in history that has experienced this type of arrests and state threats, is Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked the famous Pentagon Papers. Daniel’s new book, The Doomsday Machine: Confessions of a Nuclear War Planner. You will find an interview series related to Daniel’s book here on The Real News Network, and we’ll put a link to that, as well. Daniel, good to have you here.

DANIEL ELLSBERG: Glad to be back with you. Thank you.

SHARMINI PERIES: Daniel, your reaction to what has just happened to Julian Assange in London?

DANIEL ELLSBERG: It’s a very serious assault on the First Amendment. A clear attempt to rescind the freedom of the press, essentially. Up till now we’ve had a dozen or so indictments of sources, of which my prosecution is the very first prosecution of an American for disclosing information to the American public. And that was ended a couple of years later by governmental misconduct. There were two others before President Obama, and nine or so under President Obama, of sources, none of these having been tested in the Supreme Court yet as to their relation to the First Amendment. Hasn’t gone to them.

This is the first indictment of a journalist and editor or publisher, Julian Assange. And if it’s successful it will not be the last. This is clearly is a part of President Trump’s war on the press, what he calls the enemy of the state. And if he succeeds in putting Julian Assange in prison, where I think he’ll be for life, if he goes there at all, probably the first charge against him is only a few years. But that’s probably just the first of many.

In my own case, my first indictment was for three counts, felony counts. That was later expanded to 12 felony counts by the end of the year, for a possible 115-year sentence. So I think this is a warning shot across the bow of every editor and publisher in the country.
" ~~ The Real News Network, "Daniel Ellsberg: Assange's Arrest Is the Beginning of the End", an excerpt from interview of Daniel Ellsberg by Sharmini Peries, April 11, 2019

I suspect the dominos are going to start falling very soon. Don't count on "Constitutional rights" to have any meaning once this escalation has built up a head of steam. Trump may very well be the last president elected in this nation.

My guess is most of them don't do their own taxes, and I certainly don't trust them to look through the decades of success that the President has and determine anything. [This is] a disgusting overreach.

Which begs the question...is Sarah Sanders inferring that Donald Trump does his own taxes?

Sarah Sanders is a moron.

Dave Dubya said...

JG,
I have mixed feelings about Assange. My sympathies are with him as far as he was a journalist. His arrest is certainly an attack on the free press.

In practice, Assange went from being a journalist to a foreign partisan working for Trump's election campaign. Exposing war crimes is entirely different from acting like a FOX(R) partisan propaganda machine. While that has nothing to with his charges, he did real damage to our country. He went beyond journalism. He went full MAGAt.

Ironically, he helped lower the curtain of Trumpism that will darken our free press. For that he can rot. He foolishly and arrogantly empowered Trump's war on the press, and for that treachery, it came back to bite him.

It is tragic that the press, as well as we the people, must suffer the consequences for his MAGAt "journalism".

Jefferson's Guardian said...

Dave, I think the downside of this whole Assange arrest, and what is thought to come, will put the whole concept of a free press - and individuals, like you and me, expressing their political thoughts and ideas - in serious peril. Forget livelihoods, this could become dangerous to people's lives, and it could escalate out of control with a demagogue like Trump in the White House. Really fast.

Assange is apparently a computer hacker, extraordinaire, which is really the only criminality that can be pinned on him. But you know how this will go down. The government will blur the line of distinction - no, wait, erase it all together - between hacker and journalist. Once that happens, and I already see Democrats and the corporate talking-heads wanting Assange's severed head, it's going to be lights-out for free speech right along with it.

Jefferson's Guardian said...

"[Assange] foolishly and arrogantly empowered Trump's war on the press..." ~~ Dave Dubya

Not unlike a certain troll, I've heard he's a real dickhead. (Assange, that is. We already know Trump is.)

I have never understood his commitment to intervene in our electoral process to get Trump elected -- other than like every thinking and rational progressive who gives a shit, he was sick of globalism and neoliberalism.

The alternative, which I'm disappointed he couldn't see coming, would be -- and has been -- even more devastating.

Pick your poison, eh? The corporate state will pour it any way you like.

Dave Dubya said...

Whatever his motives, Assange may as well have wanted the downfall of our nation, and I think that may be a factor, for good or for ill.

That said, I have no respect for the judgment of any person who couldn't see the threat of such a racist and ignorant authoritarian. That makes Assange no wiser than the other dupes and bigots who support the Big MAGAt.

Meanwhile another unctuous political figure oozes. Nancy Pelosi distances herself from the most liberal wing of her party while croaking, "I'm a progressive" through her insincere grimace.

Yup, she's a "progressive" alright, and her friends are all special corporate persons.

When the Democratic Party steps on democracy, and the Republican Party poisons a republic, what do we have left, but pure nationalism and corporatism holding power?

Here's must-see programming for your resident troll, Vern:

"MSNBC PRESENTS 'BREAKING HATE'.
Episode 1 of the Special Premiered on MSNBC on August 12, 2018. The second episode will air on May 12, 2019 at 9 p.m. EDT.

There are more than 1,600 extremist groups operating in the United States right now.

Neo-Nazi skinheads, Ku Klux Klan, anti-government sovereign citizen militias, Islamophobes, homophobes, anti-abortion, fundamentalist Christian zealots, ISIS, Al-Qaeda…

While the number of these hate groups seems staggering, recent data actually points to a decline in membership. But that is not the whole story.

A drop in membership means two things: it has made the remaining active members even more essential to these established hate groups, causing the leaders of each chapter to intensify their deathly grip on members, making it nearly impossible to leave — even if they wanted to. More importantly, it means that that the Internet and social media have made it impossible to measure more mainstream fringe adherence to these same extremist ideologies that are spreading like wildfire from the lips of demagogues and across the web, and infecting an already volatile American fabric.

After years of brainwashing and indoctrination, it can be terrifying to face the world without a shield of hate or prejudice. The current American racial climate is at an all-time boiling point. 'Injustice' on the lips of every American — for good or for bad. The lure of a hate group begins as a siren song and then becomes so suffocating, that having a 'change of heart' is simply not a viable option. Being caught even considering an exit could mean violent consequences for you or your family. What do you do when you realize that everything you've stood for is wrong? That what you believe is actively harming you, your family, and society as a whole, not saving it like you were told it would? How do you leave hatred behind when your entire life might be wrapped up inside of it?

One year after the riots in Charlottesville, Virginia, MSNBC presented Breaking Hate, a special produced by Part2 Pictures following reformed neo-Nazi skinhead Christian Picciolini as he tries to atone for his past while taking on hatred in America. The hour-long episode premiered August 12, 2018 on MSNBC. The second episode is [airing May 12th at 9:00 p.m. EDT].

Breaking Hate follows Picciolini, a former skinhead who uses his own personal journey to help others escape the movement he once helped build. In the first episode, Picciolini brings together a former white supremacist who participated in the Charlottesville riots with the mother of Heather Heyer, the counter-protester killed by the car that drove into the Charlottesville crowd on August 12, 2017. Together, they begin a larger conversation on the issues dividing the country today and discuss how to start healing the wounds left behind by tragic events such as Charlottesville.

'Hate is on the rise in America, it’s emboldened, normalized, and destroying lives,' says Picciolini, 'I’ve dedicated my life to pulling people out of hate. I know how these people think and how to help because I used to be one of them.'

'Breaking Hate' is produced by Part2 Pictures. Executive producers include Amy Bucher and David Shadrack Smith.
