Happy Fourth of July! And happy Fifth of July, and happy Sixth of July...We need to celebrate, and exercise, what freedoms we have left as much as we can. As long as I can still speak my mind to power, I will fly the flag.
BTW, my flag works quite well without a pledge attached.
Belated same to you, Dave.
ReplyDeleteYou mean we should think about the Constitution on other days too, and not just July 4th? Huh.
ReplyDeleteTom,
ReplyDeleteAs credited to the former president and still current war criminal, "Stop throwing the Constitution in my face. It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"
The Liar-in-Chief came close to the truth for a change. That is all our Constitution will be, unless we demand, and exercise, our rights.
Amen, Dave. That's why I'm doing a series of articles on the Constitution.
ReplyDeleteTomCat,
ReplyDeleteAnd many thanks for your efforts!
I don't like the "under God" addition to the Pledge that was a result of McCarthyism.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many rightists know that the Pledge was an invention of a Christian socialist.
libhom,
ReplyDeleteThe Reich Wingers' comprehension of the idea of a Christian Socialist is about as deep as their understanding of quantum mechanics.
